PS: You even drink my favourite brand of beer, although I’m more of a Crankshaft man myself. Nothing wrong with a Barley Griffen though… especially “river chilled”. 😉
I'm totally blown away by this video. The production value is insane for a one man show! I genuinely hope you put out another video. If our paths cross I'll be sure to buy you a beer buddy
Just love the romance [ a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life ] of the solo getaway to an amazing part of the world with a fly rod etc.......truly magnificent country, expertly captured and skilfully edited. World stage stuff in one of my very own favourite part of this great country. Thanks Josh
Awesome video Josh! The cinematic scenes, sound design, fishing, and vlogging seemed so polished/natural. I think 'dads camping chair' was a win too 😂 Keen for the next one.
A beautiful piece of fishing artistry and clever sequences. The ‘BentSpoke’ took it to the next level. I sincerely hope you will produce more. Congratulations on your high quality production.
Josh what a terrific job you've done here. I fished the Snowy a few years back with my eldest son and we had such a wonderful time. You've captured the experience beautifully here with an elegant combination of scenery, commentary, fly fishing and sound...I don't think I stopped smiling all the way through. Keep these coming mate. We never tire of seeing the beautiful high country of Oz, its beautiful rivers meandering through the valleys and really hope to return soon when we can get back across from WA. This time me and all my boys will come so they can experience this wonderful countryside.
Great quality and great content. I'm currently stuck overseas and just seeing you making the most of our great Aussie fly fishing makes me green with envy. Keep up the good work.
very nice production mate, loved the videography combo of rivers and the general location - good that it's a solid walk in so it discourages the yobbo's that leave their garbage and toilet paper, one fish for the pot would have been nice to do over the fire with your beer too mate - we all love to watch a bit of that. Cheers
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it mate. Personally I don’t eat a lot of trout, mainly because I’ve seen these fisheries in tougher times and I don’t really think everybody killing a 2lb brown every time they come to this particular river is sustainable. In rivers with a bigger population of fish I wouldn’t have any issue doing it, I just don’t really want to be part of promoting that. A lot of people have a blanket “taking one for a feed won’t hurt” mentality and that unfortunately just isn’t true for some rivers.
Superb Josh. Beautifully presented, great shot composition & the narrative is compelling, entertaining and delivered with polish. All in my favourite part of Australia. Congrats.
Awesome Vlog mate.Great to see you're still going that extra mile to fish those epic spots and catching fish is always a bonus. Looking forward to the next Vlog Cheers Chinny🎣🏕🍻
Hey Josh, just discovered you on YT and what a breath of fresh air you are. Beautiful content. We thought it looked like you might have been near 4 Mile, we absolutely love camping in the Snowy. Looking forward to following you and hopefully learn how to successfully fly fish. The underwater footage of the brown trout was magic. Where was the cascading water? Incredible! Cheers Marg
Nice work Josh , great quality video , liked the coffee, beer and dry humour . Tell me if it’s not the upper Eucumbene , the autumn 2022 down there was awesome . Keep up the good work ! Cheers Peter
A trip like this is something I one day aspire to do, with the minimal trout fishing down in SA though, looks like I have a big drive to look forward to.
Awesome work Josh. Keep ‘em coming. I know it’s not good practice to advertise locations for these vids, but I would love to know which river you were on? Stunning surrounds.
You had me until “chocolate powder on your coffee” ;-) But seriously this is so impressive. As a one person production doing all that setup, framing etc. and hate to think how many camera batteries you were carrying. Edited into such a nice aesthetic film. Understated but really well done and possibly the only person on UA-cam who knows how to use music tastefully. Well done mate.
Hey josh, epic vid, love it! I know people dont give away there spots but what region are you in at the snowys? Doing a solo trip round chrissy. Thanks mate, love it
Thanks for watching. It’s the C&F Designs Chest storage system. You can get it in a couple sizes. bwcflies.com.au/product/cf-design-light-weight-chest-storage-large/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkPG18I-0-QIVD5JmAh0PfQUOEAQYBCABEgI0YPD_BwE
Looks like a lovely place to camp and fish! Are there any native fish in there or have trout fully taken over? Do the regs allow you to keep a fish or two for a streamside lunch/dinner? Not too much wood around for a fire-looks like the Scottish highlands.
Thanks Brian, I imagine trout have fully taken over like most of the rivers in the area. You are allowed to keep fish from this river, I just chose not to on this particular trip.
Enjoyed that mate. Thanks for putting that together for us to enjoy. Keep ‘em coming. Did a trip there in jan, vid on my channel if you’re interested. Looking forward to the next. Subbed.
Awesome video, love to know how high up the snowy area you were? I’m in hospital way down Victoria so no chance of me getting up that way to bother you
Hey mate. Firstly, sorry to hear you’re in hospital, hope you’re on the mend. Glad you enjoyed the video. I was fishing the Kiandra end of the park. That’s about as specific as I’ll ever be :)
@@Joshtreds haha! ended up being a top vid also mate. Been a bit of a dream if mine to do that down your way since im a kid. looking forward to more vids from ya. \m/
Because I’ve fished this river in past years where you might only see 1-2 fish over an entire trip. I’d like for it to continue to be a sustainable fishery so I’m happy to release the fish I catch there.
@@Joshtreds I’m all for sustainable, and there are ways to achieve that through restocking, bag limits etc. BUT 9 out of 10 fly fishing channels are showing this catch release business, and there are 100s of them. Challenge would be going there with some salt and oil (ok coffee, beer) and catch and eat. Forage for some edibles/bush tucker vegg. and Bob’s your uncle! No catch, no eat…would perhaps help you grow your channel
@@nikzbiljic I appreciate your feedback mate, but I have no real interest in growing my channel. This video was just a personal goal and challenge that I wanted to tick off this style of videography. I have been on several trips since then but have not filmed them because it’s more important for me to just enjoy being there. Sure I might make another one again at some point, but I’m not thinking about what will appeal to others, it’s just documenting my experience. I personally get more satisfaction out of catching and releasing trout, especially in rivers that I have seen in much bleaker times, so I don’t feel the need to change that because it might earn me some extra views.
Josh, I don’t understand this new fashion / trend where people now are fishing with a 200 kilo backpack strapped on. In your case you already pitched the tent and accessories left in the tent so why the big pack, pissy little raincoat, first aid kit maybe? What happened to the days of wearing the good old fishing vest?
I don’t know about trend/fashion. It’s the convenience of being able to store my camera gear when it rains/river crossings, hold my 1L water bottle + water filter kit, my first aid kit, lunch and snacks, different camera lenses to switch to etc The reason I like this hyperlite bag is because it rolls down to a smaller size pack, suited to when I’ve removed the tent/camping gear. Previously I’d take an additional stash-able bag with me and leave the hiking bag at camp. At this point, wearing a vest would be for fashion in my case, because it certainly wouldn’t be practical…
That’s next level stuff for UA-cam, Josh. Very, very impressive. Gives the rest of us something to aspire to! Lovely pace and great use of music. 👍
PS: You even drink my favourite brand of beer, although I’m more of a Crankshaft man myself. Nothing wrong with a Barley Griffen though… especially “river chilled”. 😉

Very good video Josh well done and keep them coming
Wow absolutely beautiful views mate. 💯💯💯
Another beautifully shot video. I loved the slow mo and the way the sound muted when the camera followed the trout underwater near the start. Thanks
Nice video with beautiful little stream and trout.
Hey Josh, I made it to the end!. Loved it.

Great video. What a nice bit of water too. Love small streams but the tight angling that often goes with it can be testing!
Absolute ripper. Really enjoyed it. The rivers have been superb this year with so much water about.
They sure have mate, not just the snowys thriving at the moment too
amazing production
