He's right though. The student is playing all the correct notes but his playing lacks energy, he just generally needs to be louder. It's something my teacher has had to constantly drill into me since I started studying with him
@@willmorris8198 I felt also like these were obvious things tbh, I think it's a bit weird that this is a masterclass a piece should need polishing when you come to a masterclass not working on obvious things right? Either way I don't really like the teachers playing, weird vibrato, weird dynamics,... and he sounds quite harsh
@@ansmaertens105 I mean, I agree but if some of the "obvious" things are lacking then you need to fix those before attempting more advanced concepts. Student needed more dynamic contrast/attention to phrasing which is what Biron addressed. I also thought Biron's playing was generally fine... my only beef is that he took liberties with the rhythm and added extra notes just for fun. But I actually liked his timbre.
