I love Ursula Le Guin, she's such a skilled storyteller💗'The Left Hand of Darkness' is a great place to start. I think the Earthsea Cycle is good but it was originally written for teenagers. 'The Dispossessed' might be more worth your time. Anyway, just my two cents. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you won't regret it. Ursula always delivers ☺
Petrik I was anxious too when Wind and Truth released because everybody and their mother were releasing review videos in a few days or a week later. I didn't watch any of the videos of course and some channels I unsubscribed from because they were just being so obnoxiously click-baity with their thumbnails and controversial titles (channels like that drive me crazy lol). I decided to slow down and not finish Wind and Truth in December. I'm going to finish now in January. I'm a very scheduled reader and I like to approach Epic Fantasies that I love almost like an academic 😂. I have a Mistborn notebook where I took notes of my thoughts on the story and my predictions about the epigraphs etc. I have a Stormlight notebook too where I do the same. I also write quotes on those notebooks. My Sanderson journey started last summer so that I could catch up for Wind and Truth and live the hype with everyone. I caught up the second week of December because that's when I finished Rhythm of War but then I realized that everyone else was binging the book so quickly to give their thoughts and that was not the way I wanted to go. So appreciate that you haven't read it yet and I can watch your videos safely haha. Take your time Petrik. Enjoy the ride. Journey before destination.
EXACTLY. You understand what I felt. I did that with Rhythm of War. People were finishing it like tomorrow the world will end. This happened again with Wind and Truth. This time, I decided to take a step back. I think it works in our favor. We can just read it in our time when the time is right! :)
Happy New Year, Petrik! I really need to read more Ursula Le Guin books. I've only read Wizard of Earthsea and Tombs of Atuan. I'll add them to my reading list for 2025. Technically I started my new year with Book 1 of the Iliad for my book club, but right now I'm listening to Beyond Redemption by Michael R Fletcher. I'm a massive fan of grimdark, and from what I heard this novel is the grimest of the grimdark, so it went straight to the top of my reading list for the year. Enjoy Hyperion and everything else you read this year. Happy reading! 😊
In 2024 I've read my first work by Ursula K. LeGuin, the Short Story "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas". I hope we both will have the chance to read more from her.
Happy to hear that the few reads you managed to get in were so great for you. Hope you start the year off with a bang and carry that positive energy into 2025. Happy reading!
Hyperion was in my top 2 books last year. A complete surprise as I didn’t really know what it was about. A couple of the stories will stick with me for a long time.
Which one was your favorite? While I love the first four the most, if I have to choose, The Scholar's Tale is my personal favorite. God that story... So heartbreaking. :(

congrats on 40k petrik! well deserved! my january plans are mistborn trilogy and either the veiled throne and speaking bones or ashes of man and disquiet gods. overall plans for 2025 is the cosmere (finishing elantris and starting the hope for elantris and the emperors soul today) and also you and brian lee durfee are the reasons im going to read osten ard sometime this year
So happy to see you thriving Petrik, Bonne et Heureuse Année! I finally finished Wheel Of Time, wrapping up A Memory Of Light right at the end of December 2024, and it ended on a high note overall, so I rode that wave of accomplishment into motivation for The Wars Of Light And Shadow and finally picked up Curse Of The Mistwraith! Looking forward to another long series I will spread over the course of several years, and wishing you many happy and fulfilling readings in 2025!😊📚💖
That choco boy bookmark is gorgeous!! 😍😍 Happy New Year Petrik, here's to a year of full of amazing reads and incredible success for you! 😊 Im very curious what you'll think of W&T whenever you get around to it!
Thank you so much, Zammar! Happy New Year to you, too! May this be the year I read your books! And I will let you and everyone know my thoughts on Wind and Truth! :)
Congratulations on 40k,well deserved it. I hope you will like Wind and Truth more than me,gave it 4 stars. I'm currently at 40% into Lonesome Dove,it's really good and when I'm done with it I will start The Witchood Crown, heard many great things about this sequel series from Tad Williams.
Thank you so much! Been hearing some mixed things about Wind and Truth lately. The overall rating on Goodreads is still insanely high, though. I need to get around to The Lonesome Dove one day. Enjoy The Last King of Osten Ard series. It has been great so far, and I heard the last two books are the best of the series!
Such fond memories as a teenager in the 1980’s reading Raymond E. Feist. Some of my favourite fantasy alongside that of The Dragonlance series & Memory, Sorrow & Thorn trilogy by Tad Williams.
Happy New Year! I'm excited for you to start your Hyperion journey again. I want to hear your thoughts on The Fall of Hyperon when you get to it. My January TBR: 1. The Guns of Empire by Django Wexler 2. The Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons 3. Finish Herald by Rob J. Hayes 4. King Bullet by Richard Kadrey
Yeah! I just finished the Scholar's Tale. Once again reminded me why I loved this book so much! I look forward to The Fall of Hyperion soon! You have a great reading plan, too. Guns of Empire and Herald were great!
Read Hyperion and the fall ... decades ago! I need to read it again plus the 2 Endymion books I bought last year. One of the 3 cycles I want to read shortly with James Ellroy Undercover trilogy and Stormblight archives (just got books 1-3 at Xmas). Should keep me busy several months...
My reread of Hyperion went super well. I look forward to reading The Fall of Hyperion next month and then Endymion books. Time to finish the Cantos this year. I hope you'll enjoy the 2 Endymion books too!
I wanna read My Hero at some point especially now that it is finished. Watched the Anime until S5 so I also need to finish that. LoL! Great video as always!
Congrats on hitting 40k!I I already read Hyperion but wanted to end 2024/start 2025 with another crazy sprawling sci-fi story so I started Peter F. Hamilton's Night Dawn trilogy with the Reality Dysfunction; overall I'd say Hyperion is definitely the better book, but I'm impressed with the scale of what Hamilton is doing...this is a trilogy where the FIRST book is a staggering 1,223 pages on Kindle and honestly past the first 200 it reads much quicker than that, more like a 700 pager. I'm finally 66% in at 850 pages, which sounds like an insane thing to say.
Thank you so much! I'm in the middle of rereading Hyperion and it's even better! I need to try Peter Hamilton's books, too! Also... that IS a massive book! :D
I love that choco bookmark 😍 I will read To Green Angel Tower - Siege next and then probably Blacklight Born, the final book in the Combat Codes by Alexander Darwin.
My year started with rereading Fablehaven for the third time. my favourite childhood series, and it stands the test of time. So that was a free 5 star read i guess :D I also already finished the phoenix Keeper, a cozy fantasy about a zookeeper trying to save the phoenix species from extinction. Very strong reads so far, and already done with the goal for the year I will try my luck at reading one more book, but can´t decide which one just yet. I have like 5 books I have started over the years and not finished, so I want to prioritise those. Probably Bohatier by Juraj Červenák, or Rainwild by Hobb. Both of these have been waiting for me to finish them for over 5 years
Wind and Truth might become my favourite Stormlight book.Favourite flashbacks and so many remarkable moments so far !!! Hope u enjoy row on reread though
