This is what happens when someone proficient in after effects decides to do video essays!
So good, can't wait for the next one....
Thanks man! Next one should be even better
I was thinking the same thing and soon after I read this comment! I totally agree!
Hahaha why I do bother with my film course... I should just watch this guy!!
@Lester Gutierrez you're referring to pigment. Since this video essay concerns film he's talking about light colour theory / rgb systems which are additive and in which black does represent the lack of any light or colour, while white reflects the additive effects of all three colour channels.
The background music, ur voice, the content.. Everything was soo lovely!!
Wow dude. Can't believe this only has 1.5k views. So well put together and informative, you definitely deserve more attention. Keep it up!
Nice work! I'm using this video to teach my teens English as a Second Language class about the psychology of color.
nice videos! im so glad i came across this channel, i needed help with premiere pro but seeing that you do much more than just tutorials amazes me! also great choice in music, i recognized it from majestic casual :o))
I just discovered your channel and it is so helpful. Thankyou!

Thank you so much!
reaaaalllly nice! appreciate your work!
Good one! Detailed info about all colours.
Absolutely loved this!
Genuinely love this channel :D
Was the reason I got After Effects, they should hire you!
Also Blue's my favorite color too :D
5:25 The signs are yellow because yellow + black creates the strongest contrast of all color combinations.
Thank you very much for this excellent video!
AGREED COMPLETELY BRO U REALLY WORK HARD AND LOVE TO DO HARD THINGS THATS WHAT SPECIAL IN YOU N YOUR VIDEO..
Thanks man!
I really like this format and the topics covered.
Thanks!
Thank, thank you so much for this video 👌👌👌
Instant subscribe. Very good info.
great work
Pretty much every color has its own psychology and from the context of movies to real world entities as you said. But colors also inspire us daily to do a certain task or to easily stand out and grab attention to certain details. As conveyed by you the psychology behind every emotional reaction from each color is blended and many a times people tend to mix certain colors to gather a certain emotion from the user in mass media apart from use of single colors as blue to represent a certain emotion as serenity but also different colors to transform an emotion to another like - Using a crowd of color black/violet elements to build a "sophisticated" emotion for the viewer towards those objects and specifically adding a separate object as color Blue to the mix bringing the emotional factor of "Trust" to the new object while doing this it just doesnt separates you from the other objects but also adds a certain emotion to the new object.
Thank you its help towards my psychology body language to read people .
Im a HATER and even I can't thumbs down this video.....THE NERVE...oh and yellow is not the most visible color...it is the most LUMINOUS COLOR...
Awesome! Colors can be so difficult to choose. ;)
Breaking Bad is probably one of the only tv shows that consistently and masterfully used color. It’s also another example of “orange for danger” like The Godfather. Vince Gilligan also uses this in Better Call Saul, although the colorful character personalities overpower the actual color editing in it.
I’d say I Love Lucy was.
Thanks!
great video!
Thanks!
Thank you so much, much appreciated
Thank you for watching! Brand new video tomorrow which should be quite interesting!
KriscoartProductions I'll be waiting sir 🙏🏻
I thought the mixing of light is an additive process while the mixing of paint is subtractive. Therefore black is a color infused with the power of all pigments and white as a color does not exist and can not be mixed or made. When we mix black paint we subtract one or two part of whatever primary we are using. While each primary its essence remains contained within the structured mix. Thanks great video, going to look into the book!
A incredible video, I really like this new type of video and way to present.
But how can you make a video about the use of color in movies without showing Laland ? :)
Thats true, from what I've seen in the trailers it looks like it has an amazing color palette but I haven't had a chance to see the full movie yet :/
CORRECTION: Pure white is the absence of color. In other words, you can't mix colors to create white. Therefore, white is the absence of color in the strictest sense of the definition. Black is the absorption of all colors of light.
Awesome video!
Just wanted to ask if there is a list of the movies that were used! Cheers!
Kris ur dope!
Great video ! :) I was looking to see who the ending song was by, but it's missing in the description! When you can please include it as I was really digging it and would like it know who it's by! :)
UbbyTubby I agree
Hi. I've seen two of your videos so far and just subscribed. I think color is very subjective... for instance, when I see orange, I think of warmth and comfort. That's kind of what tungsten lights are like for me. I'm seeing so many films using magenta in lighting that it's becoming overkill... what does that color symbolize?
Here is an interesting question, You are standing on a hill and you see two horses. One is black as night and the other is white as snow. What diffrent feelings and/or impression ? Is it the same feeling/impression or two diffirent feelings/impressions? and if so why and what?
cool video, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
it might be irrelevant but what name is the song in few last second of the video ?
🟡5:37 5:13
🟢5:44 6:30
🔵6:39 7:07
🟣7:13 7:32
🟤7:39
⚫8:03 8:33

during the red section of the video, another example would be the little girl in the red in "Schindler's List".
Is the book of symbols your only source? Just asking because you are not mentioning any others and I'm not sure
The ads was epic 😄
If someone say their favorite color is red, I get sceptical xD
my favourite colour is red.. 😅 is it possible to explain why it makes you skeptical?
Can you tell me which color is better for a comedy.
What's the name of the movie under Brown? The one with the kid and the goat.
whats the name of the song at the end , tried shazam and no match ???????????
5:15 what movie is that scene from?
I like how the definition of black and white have reversed. And I'm trying to figure out how to anyone can get white from mixing all colors, since that is physically not possible
Not physically, with paints. With light, yes. Paints don't work because they are made of physical things rather than light.
Nice
This video was really good, but did you plan to release it earlier? since you said "last weeks video"?
I feel like it's a long time since i've seen your content, so i thought i had missed something, and could watch more..
I shot this right after shooting the previous video but I had to travel and work on other project which pushed the edit back quite a bit. Hopefully I can get back on a regular schedule now
CAP-ILL-AIR-EES!
Downtime Media I swear he said “prelevant” right after that.. dude needs to speak better lol
No shit I was about to type that verbatim. Had to check the comments to see how other people spelled it first. Nailed it.
The thing is, he's not the first person I've heard mispronounce capillaries in this way.
I thought white is the absence of colour, while black is a serious conversation of all colours, and therefore, a colour in itself? could be wrong...
It can seem that way since white can be thought as a blank canvas but if you add all the colors together equally, they merge into white. Black is the absence of color since true black absorbs all light.
Kriscoart wait 100 percent of all colors merged together gives you white? That's not what I learned in painting courses.
It's both actually. In painting, black is the conversion of all colors and white is the absence of color while in lighting it's the contrary.
paint is subtractive, light is additive. If u merge paint it will absorb more waves, if u merge all colours equally it would absorb all colors. For light its the opposite, screens mainly combine red green and blue to add the colors together at different amounts to generate all colors. If it uses an equal amount of each u get greytones or complete white :)
ORANGE 🧡😍😍😍😍
What is the Movie in 6:24 ?
What's the title for song at the end
Cocaine
One type of torture is called "white torture" where the prisoner is locked in a single room where everything is entirely white, from the walls, the furniture, the clothes and even the food being white rice. What's the explanation behind that?
Hi, i'm Korean. I often to see your video. I like your video. But.. Can you make another subtitle?
Why is there such little contrast
Lionel Yu (someone who composed a song Colour of the soul) asked what's the colour of our soul and the colour I thought of was dark green.
Now what's the colour of your soul? I wanna know...
Definitely maroon or burgandy
I clicked because I saw the girl from ‘Jennifer’s Body’
you look like the guy from the band/artist EXAMPLE
Great video, but there's an ad after EVERY color.
Video starts at red 1:20
Blue Bros.
A video sponsored by... Everything. Moving on.
AAA.. friend I believe that white is the absence of colour and black is all the colour combined not the other way around
nice video. but use consistent audio. Record everything in the same environment
second this
I anti-second this. It sounds fine. That shit is nit picky.
You mean professional? It's certainly not nit picky haha
blankbrian why so aggressive? He certainly aims at getting better and better AS you can see in the trend of his Videos over the past. Just some constructive advice thats all
Yeah I'm just trolling. However the dual voice record is a style though. If it was all one constant static sound to his voice it might become slightly stale. The change in voice dynamic can help differentiate segments of the video too. It could be improved upon but I don't think it needs to be changed
WHAT ABOUT PINKKKKKKKK
Tryiaan purpl eee😂
The fuck was purple all about? How does it affect us psychologically? We can associate orange with being balance-both fire (danger) and the rising sun (safety), and yellow as yellow spring flowers telling us that it is spring(and the hardships are over) and we can be happy, blue as calm like still water or the sky, red is powerful because it repersents blood, like that of a newly fresh wound that survived the worst- or that of death. All these things can be taken back ro nature's grand design! But what about purple? Why didn't you say anything about how it makes us feel? And I mean deep feelings! Feelings that make sense!? Imagen one of our oldest ancestors finding a purple flower, is that flower piosonus? Does it repersent something negative or positive? And I'm talking about when the colors on our backs were only the color of the animal we slain. What was purple then, before the word royal began, what did it really mean to us? Tell me! Is it just a color we ignore?! You just say it repersents royalty, wisdom, ignorance, but nothing more! You don't tell us why! Sure, purple was a rare dye to come by in those days, but the color was still all around us! In the evening twilight, flowers, sometimes rocks and crystals. Why is this color avoided? It's pissing me off that I wasted my life watching this video, expecting an explanation of how we see purple psychologically and all I get is this shit on how purple repersents royalty, wisdom, ignorance. I want to know the PSYCHOLOGY. Our psychology didn't develop in the days that we thought about dye colors, it developed when we saw the world for the first time, when our eyes told us what each color we saw should mean to us. Get me a fucking video on the psychology of colors, not bull shit like this!
colors mean a lot but it takes several colors to get the true meaning of the colors , just think about it
How is "Black the Absence of Color" and "White is all colors combined"? 🤔😕That is all the way backwards. Other than that, it's a decent analysis.
O'Bu Mar'Konash it is what it is🌈🌫🌫🌫🌫🌫
Nah, you have those twp backwards. Lol.
Black is the presence of all colors and White is the absence of all colors.
Hahah ehmm not really
@@Kriscoart : Ha ha, ehmm yes really. Of you put all the colors of the rainbow/visible color spectrum together, you won't get white. You'll get black.
Educate yourself bro.
like why do people even go to college for art and film when individuals such as you are out there :/
My purple shirt was stolen in Saudi Arabia. I saw a Egyptian man looking a me. I assume he was behind this theft.
Correction: Yellow isn't the colour you can see from the longest distance, red is - it has the longest wavelength, and for that reason was always used primarily for all the signal systems: for transport for example. Yellow is the colour you as a human notice the most, because it triggers both the recievers of red and green in your eye the most - two that are the most sensitive. That is also the possible reason for babies crying to it, as it is biologically the most stimulant to your senses. So you can say we are wired to see/notice yellow the most.
There are some other things that I would not agree completely, but I think the most important remark is that you should have diligently specified on the exact cultures you were talking about considering the meanings of colours, now that you decided to talk about them at all. It is not the solution to pile a bunch of meanings from different parts of the world and different contexts together and say "this is baseline of what these mean..." No and many times no! It is the same as to say "the raised hand is a complicated symbol that can mean that and that throughout the globe" - no it isn't! It is instead a form, which is used in different cultures, in different contexts to mean utterly different things - because in each case it is a totally DIFFERENT symbol, just as much as the combination of sounds "b+o+u" is just noise you can make in your mouth, but in each language which accepts and uses this combination in its phonetic system this combination gets a meaning to it, it creates a separate symbol: what it means in english has nothing to do with what it means in chinese. My piont is, you just cannot ultimately dump this all in one pile as if it were one related system, just as much as you cannot say "Oranges were associated with danger in this one film, so from now on danger became a part of universal nature of all oranges and their symbolism." No it didn't. It did so for a SPECIFIC group of people who watched this film, were very inspired by it and decided to take that symbolism out of that context and maybe then used it in their own comunication later own... Do you see my point? :)
yeah i want that book.. I detest RED, hate yellow and green should not be on american (or any) money (it should be red) and cap-you-larry's is how it is pronounced.. bro blue in nature plenty (bell flowers, birds, berries, grass, roses, flies, bugs, fish)
audio is little off
I’m like a baby, I don’t like yellow for some reason.
buddy when we mix all colour ...white won't come ... black only comes ... when we mix vibgyor and other light Ray ...we will get white
DARK MOON Late reply!
You're thinking in the wrong way. Pigments have a tendency of absorbing certain wavelengths of light and reflecting what remains, that being what we see. So when you combine pigments, you combine their collective absorption patterns until they absorb all light and reflect little to nothing. Hence: Black is the absence of color, as no visible light is reflecting out. For a nature example, you can look into the night sky. There is no mistaking that no light is traveling through space to give it its black color. It is simply, without, and therefore: black.
This works with white too, you can combine all the wavelengths of light through refraction, and you will find they form a white.
Pigments are subtractive, light is additive. Black is the absence of color, white is the totality of color.
It's a weird word, because that's not how it is pronounced, lol.
I hate blue !!!
I also don’t like blue as much, it’s so common and I don’t know why I’m not so fond of blue
Skillshare sucks
Poorly titled video stating the obvious. I want PSYCHOLOGY of color not using it in film
This was disappointingly superficial. Sorry, but there was no real information, other than random associations and some aesthetic movie footage...
