  • The Making of Jungle Book reimagined: Act 1 - The Inspiration.
Akram Khan shares the motivation behind his new dance-theatre production:
“The lens we’re seeing this particular Jungle Book is of the present; the jungle of the world. I want to re-examine the idea of a child in relation to wild animals. There’s a real relationship between climate change and the cities that we live in. The biggest problem is that we chose to ignore it, turn off. That’s what I want to share with my children, and the new generation - I’m not going to ignore it, sugar coat it, Disneyfy it. I’m going to talk about it.”
Also, dancer Thomasin Gülgeç talks about playing Rama, the alpha male of the wolf pack, and exploring different animal characteristics and mannerisms.
Jungle Book reimagined opened at Leicester Curve on 2 April 2022.
