Bit of a long video this time guys, heaps to fit in. This is part one of a three part build series focusing on the tray of the 79 series. Thanks for watching!
Hey bro, love the videos, wanting to build my own tray on my 75 Series, I based my head board mostly off your design, I hope you don’t mind, with the RHS what thickness is it 2, 2.5 or 3mm? TIA
New follower sir, love the content! Just a thought about the rear window, gonna be a pain to give it a clean when it gets dirty with 20mm to fit a hand or a wiper.
squaring things with a level is a fine way to do it as long as you are making it level to the tray or cab for example if you sit the level on the back of the tray and the bubble is just touching the edge of the line as long as when you put the level on the headboard it is the same theres no harm in doing i that way
Welcome to the party mate haha. I'm using a bossweld mst185 from bunnings, it wasn't much fun with gasless wire but now that I'm using gas and solid wire it goes alright
Hey mate can you do me a favour? I’m making up a tray for mine and been looking for the angles for a head bourd the exact same as yours? What angles is it cut at?
Sure no stress mate. Its a bit hard to explain angles without a pic but the bottom angle is 14 degrees and the top two are 38 degs. Flick us a message on instsgram and I'll send you a photo of my plans if you like mate
Love the tray looks really neat.
Thanks! Its turning out heaps better than I thought it would 👍👍

What size rhs did you use for the chassis rails and the sides of the tray (the rhs above the tray slider)

Thanks mate! Yeah its going to be a bit of a pain I hadn't thought about that haha, who needs clean windows though hey

Mate a level works in a pinch but it’s more difficult and not as accurate as a square
nice mate!
Thanks!
Hey mate, really enjoying the build. I'm doing a tray myself at the moment and am wondering what design software you're using?
Thanks mate! I use a free 2d program called solid edge. It's pretty easy to use and does the trick, hit me up on insta if you need any help
Good job Roy,did you weigh all the steel you used to make the tray ?
No mate I’ll find out what it weighs after it’s all built haha
Whens the the next vid coming? Im about to start my tray build and keen to see how you go
Hopefully next week mate 👍
Hey mate just wandering you probably already said it but what sized rhs are you using for the actual headboard
Hey mate, it's 75x50 around the outside, 40x40 uprights and 32nb tube across
Hey mate, I’m new to your channel 🙌. What model welder are you using?
