I really like how you read the cards out and what they do. I like to listen to your videos when I’m driving almost like a podcast, so please keep doing so. Love the vids, keep them up!
Absolutely love this. You deserve so many more subscribers. It's someone who's only been playing magic for a few years it's very helpful to have someone explain the cards and interactions. I would have never found this commander or any of them if it weren't for your videos. Fantastic job!
Start playing the other pieces: Planar Chaos, Ice Cave, Nullstone Gargoyle, Chalice of the Void, and Nether Void. Will probably have to proxy those last two though.
I have had my Mishra Deck since 2010 and its my absolute favorite. I use Stax to counter everyones (including mine) spells and preators grasp effects to steal my opponents mana rocks and the cast my own. Fill and protect my board with artifacts than Marionette Master + Cranial Plating + KCI (+Lattice) for the win. Used to be a Lattice + darksteel + wipe wincon.
Really excited to see Brigid on this poll. I just built a Brigid deck this month and it is so much fun to play. Also love the content and keep up the good work!
It doesn't work that way. Only permanents that are on the battlefield are artifacts. Cards that aren't on the battlefield are only colorless and will not work with Mishra.
You outdid yourself today. One of your best videos. Amazing commander choices, great deck ideas, some of the wierdest cards I have ever seen and excellent explanations.
I’ve been toying around with a Mishra/Rat Colony deck. Use Encroaching Mycosynth or Mycosynth Lattice to make your Rat Colony’s artifacts. Dump 40 RC’s on the board and fervor to give them haste. If you can’t give them haste, Gruesome Fate or Impact Tremors will drain opponents without needing to attack. I also understand the world doesn’t need another sweaty rat colony lol.
Song of the Dryads does not remove supertypes. So turning someone's commander into a tree is a second way to enable Ayumi's landwalk. If they ever print a Legendary Forest, Yavimaya Dryad will be a third.
I was thinking the same thing even tho I prefer 1 or 2 color commanders. Currently I have a kataki, slobad, and Glissa Sunseeker deck and currently brewing An atogatog deck. Mishra seems unique and actual challenge and potential sleeper hit for commander.
Another card that might fit the Ayumi land walk theme is Trailblazer Boots. 2 cast 2 equip that gives nonbasic landwalk. I don't think I've seen any commander player only ever run basic lands. I don't know why this card isn't more popular.
Mishra is one I wanted to build for a long time, I searched for ages to see if I could turn my relentless rats into artifacts in the deck but there wasn't a way 😭
Absolutely love the Mishra deck. I made a deck that uses Verdant Succession recently for fun and just really love surprisingly using cards that otherwise don't even look like they're functional in Commander. Definitely want to do a toolbox build with Mishra now.
Lion's Eye Diamond is amazing for Hazoret, although price tag is a bit restrictive unfortunately. It lets you T1 commander and attack, which is ridiculously strong.
With Mishra, your spells aren’t uncounterable. Even though Mishras ability will go off when you cast an artifact, an opponent just has to wait for the ability to resolve and then they can counter the spell. If your opponent doesn’t know how the stack works, then you could get away with it.
If you're putting something into play your opponent never gets the chance to counter it. Same thing with aether vial. It never goes on the stack for them to attempt to counter it
@@bladetb3934 That is true if the ability is already resolving, but for example, let’s say I cast Sol ring. Mishra will trigger while Sol ring is on the stack. If the opponent counters now, I get Sol Ring for free anyway from Mishra. If they let Mishra’s ability resolve, then they can counter Sol ring since it’s on the stack.
@@VirsaTylePlays what are you talking about? The sol ring is already getting countered because of the other stuff in the deck, like possibility storm. Mishra's ability puts the card directly into play, you would have to counter his ability to stop the card from hitting the table
@@bladetb3934 hes talking about if an opponent where to counter an artifact card without the effects of your own spells countering your own artifacts. The guy in the video made the claim that your artifacts are uncounterable which is true if you have an effect that counters your own spells already.
@@aurabullet4128 Okay, but if the last thing on the stack to trigger would be Mishra's ability, as you would always stack it, once your artifact is countered, wouldn't it go to your grave, Mishra resolves, and the card enters play? In what instance would you end up not getting the card, for example?
@EDH Deckbuilding Dont know if youve seen this card before but "Martyr´s cause" is an awesome sleeper card. Its one of the very few cards that say "of your choice" when targeting a creature and therefore gets around hexproof/shroud.
Can you talk about the rare spellshaper cycle from Mercadian Masques? Idk if its a cycle but they both have cool effects on them with a discard outlet built in
I seriously love the Hazoret list. Probably very budget to build as well 😮 What about Crackle With Power for the list? Sulfuric Vortex seems on theme as well.
I run Mishra with Possibility Storm. I also have Sunbird's Invocation. And I run a lot of counterspells and storm cards. Then I have lots of ways to copy spells and play things like professor onyx. Its fun.
I have piloted Mishra for 10 years now. Of course, the last two made it disgusting good. Hostage Taker is one of the best ways to steal a Sol Ring from play, and Mnemonic Betrayal can steal any artifacts in the GY. Wishclaw Talisman and Opposition Agent is a great "combo". Void Mirror is the new hotness as well. I want to say that Blood Funnel is easily the most overrated and terrible card in the deck. Do you want a BYO Stone Calendar for noncreatures? Just play Ugin, the Ineffable or The Immortal Sun for a much larger impact. And what about all the nonartifact support cards like Possibilty Storm? You have to sac your creatures to cast it. BF is terrible. Another underlooked facet of Mishra is topdeck manipulation. You can use Mishra to shuffle your deck even if you can't find anything, giving additional value to cards like Brainstorm, Scroll Rack, SDT, and Future Sight effects like Bolas's Citadel.
My buddy had a pretty sick Mishra deck but the problem with it was financial since he got a cheap Nether Void years ago. The table hated him since NV countered everything but Mishra's power returned his own countered artifact spells from the graveyard, in a similar fashion to Possibility Storm (rather than 2 artifacts, your opponents had a soft lock to move around).
Was just looking at the haz and thinking about building a deck around it... and the possibility is absolutely there. Just feels like the possibility and potential really needs some focal points.
I have a Mishra deck! It feels pretty powerful honestly the times i have played with it. You just lock out the opponent while i flood the board with artifacts. Tezzeret Master of the Bridge is pretty sweet in that deck.
I put the infect equipment and some madness cards into my hazoret deck because i thought that would be the only way to go but this is actually quite interesting
Possibility storm is crazy because all of your opponents' removal doesn't work to get rid of it. It can kill people with conditional cards in their deck too, I saw someone get wrecked when he tried to play an enchantment and ended up dropping Transcendence will full life.
well, i was looking for a Grixis deck, can i blame you if my group ends up hating the deck? XD but now for real these are some great ideas and look very fun to build, i might just end up building the Hazoret one as well for how well you made it. Love your work man, please continue the best of contents :)
May I suggest Moonring Mirror for Hazoret as a pseudo "second hand", when compared to Alhammarret's Archive Moonring Mirror is a really budget and underestimated card.
Hazoreth is in my Chandra's Tribal Commander. She's really good especially since I also use all the Exile from the top cards precisely because of Red's running out of gas situation late game
Mishra: What about an effect turning a card into an artifact, that can have multiples in your deck like seven dwarves? Wouldn't that be neat? The dragon spell wouldn't work obviously (I think) because it's not a permanent but seven dwarves, the rat card or persistent petitioners. Actually petitioners would be a strong combo wouldn't it?
Someone in my group wanted to build Urza, so after I saw this I wanted to build the Mishra. Are there any other enchantments that will work like Nether Void and Blood Funnel? Nether Void is expensive, for sure, but I could proxy it. Also, more ways to search his library for more artifacts I can cast?
You can also exchange control of two permanents by activating Avarice Totem targeting your own thing, holding priority, and activating it again targeting their thing.
Is it possible with mishra to bounce an artifact you just cast with an Instant effect like Crystal shard to then get it back into Play? This would be nice to double strong artifact etbs
If only there was a card that made spells you cast artifacts in addition to their other types Mishra could become a great relentless rats or advisors deck. Mycosynth Lattice was so close…
Does anyone have an interesting deck with "Herald of Leshrac" I've been looking through every mtg card ever made by creature, land etc. and I just ended at Black creatures and noticed that alot of Black creatures have some "Sacrifice a swamp you control or else....." I wonder if it'll be possible to use "Herald of Leshrac" as a win condition with those downside cards by stealing your opponents lands. I know it isn't the funnest example of a deck, but I mean it's slow, it's jank. wanted to see what someone thought.
I've wanted to do a "Lands Matter" deck like that for a while now. I always wanted to do Dakkon Blackblade. Basically steal lands and make Dakkon or Korlash huge with a Urborg out. Could also use Unwinding clock with the Herald of Leshrac upkeep trigger choosing not to Gain control of any lands activating the clock and just ending the turn with all of the lands permanently under your control. Theres a few other creatures that check for Swamps as well.
I use it in my gitrog with tomb of urami, sacrificing my opponents land, or using tomb to wipe out every land I stole and get a 5/5 then play 2 lands if I can if not more with land drops
Hey demo I know everyone hates the walking dead commanders but I just threw them all in a humans deck. Wondering how you would build them as commanders.

@@bamby3144 i think Commander's Quarters is the other
It's the direction that UA-cam has been heading recently and I am also very happy it was well.
I can’t agree more! He’s a great presenter.
Song of the Dryads works well with Ayumi. Enchant one of their legendary creatures with it, and now they have a legendary forest. :)
that's a really clever way to give them a legendary land
Was just thinking that, glad I read it.
You can arcane denial your own artifact to draw three and play the artifact anyway
2 mana draw three, seems good
