I saw a young lady that lived on the waterfront in South LA. She said they were going to stay there and ride it out. I hope she and her family decided to leave. This afternoon, she showed the water level had already started to rise and the hurricane was not even close to making landfall.

Well, first, you pay attention to the weather weeks in advance because you know you live in an area prone to getting hurricanes and it's hurricane season. Lime the national weather service advises, you have a plan in place long before you need to enact it. Simple enough?

The sun hasn't risen yet, so its pretty black outside and I can't really see how the clouds might look. Nothing out of the ordinary yet. Thank you for the concern.💗

You know what's funny? The stimulus and unemployment benefit hike showed how many people would benefit from better pay, but more importantly it proved bubble up economics works better than trickle down. The enconmy rebound touted by some is ONLY because of that injection of money into the lower pay classes. The money that went to bail out billion dollar industies? Gone, and they ask for more. When will people realize that using the taxes from the rich to help the poor (get better housing, education, healthcare, PAY, etc.) will in turn save/make money for the economy overall? If we lift the impoverished out of poverty and help them build a solid base and earn wealth we win twice!
First, if there arent as many impoverished people then we dont have to spend as much to fix poverty. Second, if we can get people out of poverty and earning a decent income then we will get more tax revenue. In the end it could balance itself out to where no one is homeless/impoverished and LESS taxes overall.
The same goes with so many of the issues facing our country, like our infrastructure, put the money into building back stronger. Tired of the road work every 3 years to patch the same places ? Stop throwing the little money at it and invest in something that will last for decades.
Fiscal conservatism and progressive reform CAN go hand in hand. Ever bought a more expensive item (car, tool, house, etc) because it would last longer and work better? Invest in the people it's the smart thing to do! (unless you just want to control them, then just keep on keeping on)

7:50 - weren’t they just complaining a month or so a go that they COULDN’T GIVE OIL AWAY?? We didn’t see a single price drop in the real. Now they’re complaining that shutting down production for a few days is catastrophic and will increase prices???
That was because the oil markets operate on futures contracts. The Covid sudden disruption drastically reducing fuel use put a squeeze on the market with contracts set in advance coming due with nowhere for the oil to go. The market has adjusted to factor the Covid situation going forward so this will be a disruption to the new equilibrium. And there were some major price drops for gasoline. US avg about $2.60 mid Jan, $1.74 mid-late April, the low point, that's 33%. Now around $2.21. Info from Gasbuddy.com. They have a nice graph showing 18 month history.

Thankfully, the highest parts of the storm surge went a little further east into the swamp. Still tragically devastating, but from what I’ve been told by Lake Charles residents, it could have been worse.

Gas prices should not be affected do to fracking going on inland well and a global oil barrel prices are at all time lows.

I was in the Army when I was there for Katruna in 2005 "Operation Task Force Gator"...very surreal, going by houses theyd be marked to identify if someone was there or had died. Been searched, I even stayed 2, 3 years afterwards, homicide burglaries, etc hope all my buddies I served with are okay
