Well done Nicola, No spend January for me as well. Pantry/Freezer challenge. Have not spent anything so far this month. The weather has been a great help as my car has not moved for over a week. This will mean my petrol will last me until the end of the month. Getting to the stage were some of the basics like bread and yogurt are running low so will need a small food shop later this week. Amazing how many times Lidl have e mailed me showing me the offers. Just shows how they track you via your loyalty cards.
If you're getting petrol from Asda you could put it on an Asda credit card (paying it off in full at the end of the month obviously) and get a percentage of it back towards your shopping. You'd also be a month in hand so could put the petrol money in a savings account until it needs to be paid. It would only be pence but it all adds up!
@@Pocket_Fluff I use the Asda credit card and put all my food and petrol on this, I had over £100 in vouchers to spend at Christmas , saved for a year but all adds up!
@ it is going well, as we are at the start of the new year tax wise, our contributions are up so the take home pay is a bit lower so a good time to be more mindful. I am in Canada 🇨🇦
Definitely definitely give Vinted a try. I thought January would be a quiet month, assuming everyone would have run out of money like me! But I'm up to £30 in sales so far and this all feeds into my savings challenges. And it's all been my daughters old clothes, which are seemingly never ending 😂
This is the first time I am trying. Doing well for me like not going to the cafe but not good for the kids. We have an inset day so going to the farm but kids tickets are 50% off. We have had lots of things like booking halls and bouncy castle for my daughter's birthday and trips for school and beavers coming up but don't want them to miss out.
Hi Nicola well done its not easy I’m having a no spend year as well All going well I definitely want a gas fire and also shutters on the windows Don’t think I will have all the shutters this year but at least I’m focused Hope your week goes well xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Congrats on 14k subscribers. It is definitely a mindset that starting January off strong will translate into a good year, but better to start off thinking positive than dreading the year to come :).
You are doing great! How do you keep track of your sinking funds totals? Try aiming for one vinted listing. I know that for me it is a new process/event/job that is daunting and once I have done one all the mystery goes and I can get on with it!
Well done Nicola, you have made a good start to your no spend year. I have spent £41.07 on food since 1 Jan. Our daughter picked me up a few reduced bargain, I paid her for them and they are in the freezer and store cupboard. We had one planned spend, our dog's annual injection. Unfortunately I have lost one pair of my reading glasses, I have hunted everywhere for them. So sadly I had to order 2 new pairs so £70 spent but more a need that a want. I have not had any new ones since 2017, so good going I suppose. I did resist buying a book in the series I am reading though 😀 My husband has the Biscuit dog walking App on his phone and had earned enough points for a £10 Tesco voucher so we topped up on fruit and veg.
you have done really well with your food budget,I've been doing a low spend since Xmas day , just been totalling up my receipts spent £73.00 on food. Although we didn't really spend much on the lead up to christmas so there wasn't lots of food in the freezer or fridge. Food prices are just crazy
I have bought some beautiful items on Vinted only had one item not as listed and in poor condition so I returned it and got a refund. I have sold a few items and that has gone well. Would use Vinted again to both buy and sell.
