back at the time of this game i honestly thought this was the best game ever made and that nothing could ever be as good or better. And man was i good at this game, i beat everybody at it, and people flat out got annoyed at me and would not play with me anymore because i beat them so bad, i lost friends over this game i beat people so bad at it

There's a lot of creative freedom for sports games, generally all that's rendered is a playing field and the people taking part i.e. the boxing ring and the boxers so there's a lot more headroom to improve other areas such as the animations of the boxers.

I bought a ps 2 just for this game alone. I have a ps 5 but I also have a ps2 when I have those vibes to play old school games like this. Just buy you a ps2 they still sell them and you can forever have this game. They still selling all these old games in malls, video game stores even OTHERS OUTSIDE of gamestop. I just played sugar ray Leonard vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr. It was pretty fun. I was putting a hurting on Mayweather, Jr. for sure......lol.

One of the best Knockout Kings ever my favorite classic from 1999 the childhood days.
How I loved throwing combos and flurries on this game.
It's an excellent game and Knockout Kings 2001 is even better (the differen fighting style are very well rendered : You really see the difference when you fight a boxer, a slugger, a guy with a guard in Crab or a guy who fight in "freestyle").
Good job by EA and the team who developped theses two games.

I used to love this game - my go to player in career mode was a big fat southpaw slugger with clown hair - I'd load up his stats with chin and power, forgetting any speed and subtlety, lead with hooks to the body and fight dirty with low blows and headbutts.
If you could get past the fifth round with him he was toast - but you had to get there first :-)

this is one of my favorite Knockout Kings video games ever classic this came out in 1999 I was in second grade in elementary school this best one.
it was great on how they had the great western forum in ko kings .when the series rebranded to fight night at some point they included the staples center. Still i wish they would have kept ceasers palace for the more current boxing titles

In Germany the Game is called "Box Champions 2000", I played this Game before my first Boxing Fight a lot. I remember, played the Game the whole day and in the evening I had to Box myself.

heres something interesting, I recently looked through the july 1998 issue of Game Informer and in the preview section they had "Fight Night" by EA Sports, while the early entries in this series went by Knockout Kings name until 2004's Fight Night, it would seem they've been holding onto the name for sometime (the article says its a working title at the time)
