  • John Irving Bloom uses the pseudonym Joe Bob Briggs. He is a syndicated American film critic, writer and comic performer.
We do not endorse the man but this expose is not only very good, but nostalgic.
This is a clip from his show "God Stuff" recorded in the mid-80's.

“I’m a channel surfin’ religious TV couch potato fool. I once sat in a motel room in Meridian, Mississippi watchin’ a pentecostal revival meeting that lasted 3 1/2 hours and they didn’t even use snakes.” That may be my absolute favorite Joe Bob Briggs quote of all time.

The widow woman wanted something. Sadly that type of scripture twisting is more common today today than it's ever been. Today men can make up their own definitions for words completely changing their actual meaning in order to support a teaching and it's hailed as light from above. God help us.

"She gave out of want for a husband." LOL
I came across this video and just had to upload it.
I also came across an upload today where Kenneth Copeland recently had a high ranking priest preaching to the KC followers. Wow. It is titled "Kenneth Copeland Recants..."
Have you seen it yet? The Romans are infiltrating the cults now.
      Seems fitting, no?

It's sickening isn't it brother. I saw Copeland with the Catholic declaring his new found allegiance to Rome. This is the type of thing that happens when doctrine is deemed unimportant and divisive and every man does that which is right in his own eyes. As it was in the days of Noah....
Even Rome has taken on a conciliatory hyper ecumenical tone. Check out this quote from the Second Vatican Council, Lumen Gentium 16, November 21, 1964
“But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place among whom are the Muslims: these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”
This is a blatant misapplication of John 5:24 where Jesus said "He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life..."
By lifting scriptures out of the bible and viewing them apart from the body of revealed truth men can make the bible teach whatever they like while ignoring what it actually says. That's why Isaiah 28:10-13 and I Cor. 2:13 are absolutely essential to a proper understanding of the word of God.

mwilson70201 Those two verses summarize this perfectly brother,
      Isaiah 28:10-13 and I Cor. 2:13.
I once was told by a Baptist back in the 80's "Pat, you can make the Bible say anything you want to". I was a Pentecostal at the time. I thought I knew everything. Problem was.... I was still in the mindset of Rome as most Pentecostals are. But he was RIGHT and so are you, when you say "This is the type of thing that happens when doctrine is deemed unimportant and divisive, for every man does that which is right in his own eyes, as it was in the days of Noah."
Where is faith? What man knows that which the scriptures teach?
      I will tell you.
The man who knows about salvation by faith in Jesus ALONE is the one who has learned well. The scriptures are very clear. Faith alone, in Jesus alone. Yet religion has gone the way of the Devil and he has hijacked the scriptures from the men who think they know, yet in the end they are destined to eternal separation from everything, and Rome is the main culprit.

Hum, the story of the widows mite. This poor guy. I have never before heard such a misinterpretation of the scriptures. She wanted a man??? Hog wash. There is nothing in this story to suggest she wanted a man. Get some understanding mister.
