    Here's a couple more ideas that worked for me:
    1) Don't buy new stuff. Image is an illusion. Dressing or driving to impress will put you in the poor house. I drive a 20 yr. old Lexus. Costs me about $200 a year in regular maintenance. Still looks and drives great. Shop thrift stores as they are repositories of anything that didn't sell in stores. I furnished my home completely from thrift stores and it is stunning.
    2) Stay out of the high-priced grocery stores. I found an off-brand store that cut my food budget in half. Use BOGOs and coupons and make a list before you go. I don't buy anything that's not on my list. Use the circulars to plan menus.
    3) Pay cash. I paid cash for the Lexus and my homes from the money I put away every month. No car note and no mortgage.
    4) Sell stuff online that you get at the thrift stores. I make pretty good $ selling books on Amazon.
    5) Start small. Save up for a condo, fix it up and furnish it from the thrift store. Wait a couple years while you save money to upgrade, I did that and now own a gorgeous home on the lake.
    6) Learn to like what you have. I get up every day grateful for another one. I buy stuff I can afford that I want to keep and it feels great.
    BTW, I am on Social Security. It ain't much but I made it work doing this stuff. Good luck to you,

    1. Budget Everything
    2. Debt Snowball
    3. Have 3-12 months of savings as an emergency fund to kept you from debt.
    4. Invest 15 percent into 401k IRA or some kind of investment account.
    5. Marry someone that you're a team with, that you can share everything. Join accounts. If you both work thats 2 salaries to a house hold. Again, someone you willing to give your life too and they to you. Communication is key.
    6. If you can, save for a Health Savings Account for future medical costs.
    7. Try to get the best insurance through brokers and check every year to save on cost.

    I prefer not to automate my bills, I prefer a statement where I can see how much I’m spending. But your credit card tip of not charging more than you can pay off when the statement arrive, is a good tip.

    • @site_is_down
      @site_is_down 2 роки тому

      It can also be a good thing, seeing how much you're spending, but the goal of automating bill can be for a lot of reasons such as earning cash backs, and preventing from accruing any interest just so in case we forgot paying it, but it can also be good if you're not forgetful of your bills. At the end of the day, doing things on our own preferences and our comfort can help us save and invest faster.

    Designer clothes was the biggest psychological trick played on western populations ever. Think about it: Put a postage stamp sized piece of material with the brand logo on it, jack the price up greater than 1000% and oh yeah, you can only wear it for this season meaning virtually brand new clothing has a "wear by date".

      I shop in thrift stores and garage sales. Men's clothes are sturdy, comfortable, and utilitarian. So, My wardrobe is a bit*Ahem* masculine. Women's clothing is usually flimsy, uncomfortable, And frivolous.

      I get a charge out of those labels. If you think about it one must pay for advertising. In fashion you are made to pay for the designers ad and you wear it with pride. I would NEVER put on anything that has somebody else's name on it.

I managed to get a free place at a hostel for a couple hours of work everyday. They even bought me food and got me a whale cruise for free. It was incredible and saved me probably close to $1,000. It would really help if houses wouldn't cost $2,000,000 ,rent $2,500/month yet minimum wage should only be $15/hr .

    • @nemui9654
      @nemui9654 2 роки тому

      It’ll never happen. The only solution is to look for better. Minimum wage positions should only be considered a starting line. Do it as a first job or to start moving up. Maybe even temporarily or as a second job. The more minimum wage or unskilled labor gets paid the more skilled labor will be paid. Prices will go up as a result.
      Or maybe your solution would be to pay both skilled labor and unskilled labor the same? That could lead to even more issues.
      I’m curious, do you have a solution that wouldn’t result in massive economic turmoil?

    Step 1. Look for one thing you spend money on and see if you can do without it. This includes things you like. Cancel that service or stop buying that item. See how it affects you. Happier? Go to step 2. Unhappy? Keep that item.
    Step 2. Repeat step 1.
    It's not complicated.
    All hobbies and fun things should cost no money and have the potential to earn money. There are so many things to do. If you're bored you're not looking and trying. You are doomed to be bored your entire life.

    This is the 4nd(?) Video I've watched. I need this back in my life. Kind of fell off the "make money work for me bus" ! My girl and I hardly go out. Once or twice a month(?) And we go to the nar I work in. Even with my discount we don't drink much. Maybe 4 beers each (?) We also don't go shopping every day/week. We hot the grocery store once or twice a month. Saving time and gas. For example my girls daughter and husband go to the store everyday. My biggest liability is my 31 year old truck. But cheaper than a monthly payment for a brand new p.o s. Again, I can ramble on and on. I'm working on 3 different investments right now. Ones diving another I haven't started yet. (Doing research) and 3th one I'm working on as I type.

    #1 way to get rich and stay rich is to always be employed (at one if not two jobs) and always have passive streams of wealth generation/income, and to NOT get married and NOT have kids. The marriage and kids part is about the fact that divorce and custody including the legal costs is the single most expensive thing that can happen to you.
    [Edit]: Overall 50% of marriages end in divorce, and over 41% of 1st marriages end in divorce. Hence, the odds are that a lot of marriages become a huge mental/emotional and financial sink hole.

I didn't miss a beat during covid either. Most private houses I clean they are lower middle class. Most families have pets and kids and work full time. I come in for 2 hours every other week and clean like a madman and get cash left on the counter. It's a win win. The husbands never really care but they all notice how much happier their wives are. I'm like the cheapest marriage counselor ever. Best part is the businesses pay even better. I'm doing good and haven't worked a 40 hour week in over a decade. Can pay all my bills. No debt. And get to save extra every month. Best part is no boss. And not dependant on one place. I could lose any 4 jobs and be ok. Talk about security.
