    thank you so much Mr. Barrow for all you have done in these several years
    this video is the best way to understand how to coach ourselves for having perfect shot approach
    our dear friend , Francesco , walk through the shot , stops and then start to turn the upper body and I guess this is why he couldn't catch the line of aim in the straight line and his zigzag approaching , in the other hand , you do it as the same step . I mean as you walking through the shot you start to turn your upper body in the same time and you have NOT any kind of error for catching the line of aim and getting offline ( of course you are one of great educators in this sport and you do it perfectly )
    " it's all about timing "
    these Dartfish videos are the one of the great projects you have done ... helped a lot to improve my game from every angle .
    thanks a lot and best wishes for you

      Thank you samx Maybe! I tip forwards from the shoulders so the feet catch up with me as I fall. Hence the vertical head drop and smooth approach like a swan to water

    I hurt my back and knees and could not get down so was looking for a stand up style for snooker (I don't know anybody who uses one professionally). I have been watching Minnesota Fats playing pool. He stands up when he plays a shot. However, I actually improved my aim significantly from the higher position (I am 6 ft 4 in). In this video you ask several times "How can I get down to the shot and stay on the line of aim?" It's easier for me to stay on the line of aim fairly upright. It helps if you have long arms though, which I do.

      You will have better vision, stability and cueing the lower your eyes are to the cue - all things being equal and barring discomfort. BUT we can work around this to some degree. Have you tried bending both knees to get the head and shoulders lower? One ex pro I know with a back condition bends both knees to around 90 degrees to have any chance of getting his chin on the cue - which he does in preference of the head being above and not touching the cue.

    Thanks so much, another question is that every said we should look at the object ball while aiming, to details, we should look at the contact point on object ball, or at the area where white ball supposed to hit and cover. Also please let me know if there is a fee for the Q&A, I will pay then, thank you.

      Bit too soon to find out!
      I completely packed the game up in 1982 (Ronnie gross’s is where I played I was 22) making regular 30/40/50s
      Came back to the game this year in June and started making 30s& 40s again (no 50s...yet!) at the age of 56 by the way a lot bigger breaks in line ups 60s / 70s & 80s even now I can do that but I think that’s standard ?!
      I passed this on to a couple of friends who play at Whetstone Snooker club they 60 plus break players and they have found this BRILLIANT ! Thank you

    Hey nic..a quick question. Here it was a straight shot, so your dominant eye(in your case, your nose as you are even sighted) is right on the line of aim passing through the centre of the cue ball. What if it is the thinnest of the cuts, then the line of aim does not pass through the centre of the cue ball, rather an edge of the cue ball. So the question is, would your dominant eye still be behind the centre of the cue ball or would it be on the actual line of aim which is passing through an edge of the cue ball.
    If I am behind the centre of the cue ball, I have to assume the cue ball is stuck to my tip and accordingly I aim, although my eye is off the line of aim.
    Not the quickest of the questions :D
    Thanks sir!

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  5 років тому

      Every shot is a straight shot - the brain will be aiming in its peripheral vision the line of aim between cue ball and ghost ball.

    Hi Teacher, I find that when I step my first right foot on the ground, my body and weight will be a little rightward, at this moment, only right foot support the body, how to fix it? Thanks.

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  8 років тому

      +Zhang Ken Tip forwards at your shoulders toward table - you will then move right foot forwards after you start falling forwards and stay straight when right foot moves forwards.

  • @zhangken9884
    @zhangken9884 8 років тому

    Another is that I have no problem to ensure my head on the line of aim. But after shot, I find my right (cue)hand is a little bit on the right of my body, sometimes I consciously move right hand a little inside and close to my body to make the cue on the line, is it the right way? Many thanks

    • @TheSnookerGym

      +Zhang Ken the grip hand should finish in the same part of the chest on every shot you play.

    when i walkin to the shot my head stay on line of aim however, the grip hand goes offline once i am down. i bring chest to the cue.

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  9 місяців тому +1

      Just practice going down slowly and noticing if both hands stay on line of aim or not... over time they will get better at their job!

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  7 років тому

      Yes tip forward at the shoulders until the feet have to catch up... then slide the bridge hand onto the table... this will keep your head on line.

  • @Dan_Afriat
    @Dan_Afriat 7 років тому

    hey! wouldn't it be better to form the bridge before approaching?? for better consistency. because i can see that you are holding the cue and then only after you start with the approach you create/form it.

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  7 років тому +2

      Hi good point. Some players do what you suggest when learning the game and it is a good way to play. However, by the time a player reaches pro standard, they can approach in this way that you see on the screen - the most important thing being that both hands (and therefore the cue) get on the line of aim before the bridge hand touches the table.

    My elbow is not above the cue but a little bit outwards but in a parallel line with the shot line. Can you please share some tips on how I can fix this?

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  3 роки тому +1

      The most important is that the cue is moving straight - you can test different elbow positions to see which gives the straightest cueing.
      Depending on body shape and player height, the shoulder over the cue does not always give straightest cueing.

      @@TheSnookerGym Hi and thanks for your answer. I seem to have another odd problem, if you can explain and maybe give me some tips will be much appreciated. So when I am practicing some long straight in shots it seems that everytime im going down I am aiming the object ball to the right (cutting it to the left) and to compensate to this I tilt a little to the left and as a result I apply a hair of left spin to all my shots. If you have any tips or solutions will be much appreciated. Thanks again,

    Interesting vid..thanks for that. Roy chisolm has written a book on approaching from the side aiming at the left edge of object ball through cueball centre, kind of a cte technique.
    Do you agree with this system??

    • @TheSnookerGym
      @TheSnookerGym  7 років тому +1

      No. That is far too complex and mathematical in my opinion, I could not pot a ball trying to read that 'aim' and no pro aims like this - they aim with their peripheral vision, allowing the eyes to settle usually on the ghost ball, the back of the ball, or in some cases something they are not consciously aware of! Ultimately, we don't aim by where we look, we place the eyes to gather data, to give the peripheral vision the best chance possible to absorb the angle.
