my sliding compound miter is my most dusty machine, i came up with an idea to deal with all the dust and it does a great job without the need for a dustcollector.. i used a second hand box fan and built a cabinet for my saw.. the fan is mounted at the back but is shrouded on the inside so the dust is pulled down and then back up to the fan, the dust is removed by a furnace filter under the fan, all the dust gets trapped in the bottom of the cabinet. i haven't seen this idea anywhere on the internet but i love it
Outstanding build. I'm new to all this and am in process of building my own dust box. I gotta steal some of your ideas here. It's absolutely perfect for what I need. Cheers for posting this dude👍👍👍
I am currently looking for ideas for sawdust containment beyond my current box catchment concept. I am NOT naive enough to think I can get it all. My aim is to just do better! The box was a big improvement. Now Im going to try a curtain on the front. There must be at least 30 Tube videos on this topic. Hope I don't have to relearn their mistakes. I notice that your curtain is plywood. Maybe I'll take try at that. My latest try was a tent affair that looks pretty good for mobile saws. Turned out to be an utter failure for me.You have included other features in your box, as I have, but your needs are different than mine, but a good source of ideas. Thanks for doing far better than most on this very difficult project! Using magnets for removable items is a great idea !
@@Statedwoods DUH. I also can’t believe I watched an 11 minute video on a dust hood for a miter saw. I don’t even think I knew the name of that saw before this 😂 (or would’ve been the “big round one that comes down”) oh but you need SOME red in that shop. C’mon now.
You do have to take the sides off depending on the angle you need. I always keep at least one side on but even without, the drafts is strong enough to pick that fine dust out of your face
@@Statedwoods what if you make separate doors for different miters? With that stroke of genius using magnets you could just snap on and off different doors 👍
Some very nice design! I think you'd be better off removing those slots from that bottom area. It gives the dust a place to bounce off of and avoid getting sucked up.
Do you have plans for this? I also have a DeWalt Mitre Saw and I really like the solution you came up with! Mine is a slider though, so I would have to make adjustments for that but I think the rest of it would work. Thanks Nick! Bev New
Dude awesome project. I checked out a few of your other videos but I did not see one on your air filtration system - was wondering if you had one on that.
my comment is... genius. Can you come to London and make me one? Seriously, great job, I have a smaller saw, much smaller workshop and no logo... but will borrow this idea if that's ok?
I have this same saw and will be attempting to build a dust collection box/hood. Any chance of making the plans/dimensions available? Thanks and great video!
I was glad to see you put on safety glasses, but you should also put on ear protections. I have ALWAYS used ear protections, for 60 years, and my hearing is better than most teen agers, thanks to avoiding loud noises. Please, use ear protection, in your older age you will be grateful that you will maintain good frequency response so you can continue enjoying your music. Please, I'm serious.
Love the whiteboard idea. Definitely incorporating that into my next workstation.
The blast gate opener is genius! Subscribed!
Thanks!
Amazing... and I really appreciate a craftsman who cares about how all the details look. Thanks for all your work to share ideas -- very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for that
this is a great design , like the dryboard , very handy and clever
Thanks. They are used everyday. Very handy

Sounds like its working great. Show it in a video
Good idea with the dry erase and extra tape measure, pencils etc.
nice work...lov3e the dry erase additions...just building out a duct hood now foir a rigid saw.
Awesome!
Great design! You get extra-credit points for aesthetics!
Thanks! I wanted it to look good!

Happy to help. Good luck on your build!
I like the dry erase boards too, tho I usually just end up writing on my workbench or notebook
Really nice build man! Definitely will help with the dust collection.
I think it will help. Works great
Great project dude! Huge improvement. Love all the features
Thanks man. Yea. Huge improvement in DC
Love the set up!!! Lots of great ideas!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks. Hope you find a solution to what you need. Dust is always a problem with these.
You have about 500 followers? Hope you grow fast, because this video is awesome and you seem to be a great craftsman. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!
That made a huge improvement! Great work.
Second time I've watched this build. I really need to get my saw under control. It shits all over my bench and the floor in front of it.
Thanks so much. I hope it helped
My most favorite thing ever are the suicide doors 😂
haha. I love them. did you like the UNC math

There shroud came out great man!
Thanks Mike. I am happy with it
Great video! I’m definitely going to take inspiration from this build when I make a miter station in my next shop
Thanks man. Glad I could help inspire.
Awesome build. Great ideas.
Thanks so much.
It’s really cool buddy! Love it!!
Thanks!
The dry erase did it for me.
Haha thanks. The dry erase is clutch. Im sure you liked my math.
What about when you have to make a miter cut? You have to take the side piece off? Is it only effective if you’re chopping and can have the sides on?

Gotta have a tape measure and pencil at every saw station 😆
Nice job! thanks for the ideas!
You are welcome!
Great project. Nice work!
Thank you!

Thanks! I dont have any plans for it. Maybe I should.
Great build man! The logo looks awesome I like the 4+4=7 is that some new common core math lol
thats that new school math. lol. thought I would throw that in there like an easter egg
Nice job Brother!
Thanks Gary! you are great
Man that is freaking awesome brother nicely done and really great video 👍👊
Thanks my friend!
Great features but does it help with dust???
Absolutely it does. We love it
Any chance of some plans? Awesome job man.
Dude awesome project. I checked out a few of your other videos but I did not see one on your air filtration system - was wondering if you had one on that.
No videos yet. But I will do a shop tour soon. Maybe I will do some on the air filtration.
Did you cut the dry erase boards, are build the doors to accommodate the bought size?
Cut the dry erase boards

I havent drawn up any plans yet but maybe I should
Nice work Nick! Have you noticed a difference in dust with the new hood?
Thanks Mike! It doesnt allow any dust in front of the machine. Everything stays back which i love.
@@Statedwoods nice!
Awesome build man!
Thanks Alan!
0:05 I thought so too. And then I got a drill press.
Haha yea a drill press can be a nasty dust maker
Does this design allow full range of miter and/or bevel cuts?
Yes. It can still cut at full capacity any angle the saw allows
@@Statedwoods Do miter and bevel cuts require full removal of one of the front side cover panels held in place by the magnetic tape?
4+4=7? Man, no wonder none of my stuff turns out, I've been doing it wrong. Lol
🤣🤣
awesome ideas
Glad you like them!
awesome
Thanks!
Oddly, the video doesn't really show the design or how or how well the hood works. Pretty though.
terrific build.. but 4+4 = 7 🤔
😂🤣
whats holding your table saw dust co hood?
its a stock dust hood arm from Sawstop. I believe thats what you are asking about.

We will do that. Thanks!
Pimp my ride!
I like it!
You spend that kind of money on that saw and you can’t use it very smart of you
Can't use it? We use it all the time
