As pedestrians my baby and I were almost hit by a runaway trailer once, those things can fly when they aren't hooked up correctly! This video is bound to save lives, thanks How to Dad!
In Europe we have a thin wire instead of that chain. The wire pulls on the trailer's brakes and then gets ripped off. The trailer comes unattached completely but will stop quickly
More like this. This is what we dads want... how to pitch a tent, how to change a lock, how to melt chocolate or how to clean aircon. Some of us didn't have a dad when growing up, and we all had to improvise. You got tons of material and a very loving personality. Keep up the good work and all the best to you and your family!
Bro the level of dry humour in this is absolutely incredible. I went in looking for actual advice I didn't expect to get that good of a laugh on a tutorial about driving. Thank you.😂
I remember getting up real early one time. It was a Friday and I decided to take the trailer with me because we had trailer things to do after work. Well it was dark while I was hooking it up and low and behold as I left the driveway and exited our street, I heard a huge bang and saw sparks flying... The trailer had bloody bounced off the tow ball as it wasn't on completely. Folks, take your time hooking up your trailers and if you do it in the dark, don't just 'feel' it on. Use a torch and make sure it's on properly 😅 I was lucky it was 5am and no one was on the road..except for the neighbors that were woken by the the sound of a trailer scraping along the road and me cursing like crazy as I desperately retrieve trailer and hook it on properly haha
This was actually more informative than you might think. LOL Also, there is turning too wide. People do this all the time. It's a car trailer, not a semi-truck. SO STAY IN YOUR LANE!!!
Well, with trailers it is similar as with caravans. Many people seem to regard them as a status symbol in the sense that size (trailer length) matters. But usually they are totally incapable of driving with such an exceptional load.
@@owPhreak I always recommend that people buy nothing bigger than they need. No sense in getting a 20 foot trailer, when a 16 will do just fine. I would then recommend practicing a little bit in an open area, get used to how it turns and where to tires track. Also learn to back it, including turning while backing. You can get yourself in a pickle real quick if you can't back out when needed.
So basically I have exactly the same amount of knowledge about towing a trailer before and after watching this how to tow a trailer video. Good job mate
Very helpful. I find myself in my trailer, trying to trailer my truck time to time. Trailering a truck by trailer is tricky. Typically one needs tons of testosterone on trips taking tight turns. Turns out tipping is troublesome trailblazing tight trails too. It's terribly time comsuming , and takes tedious talent. Traditional transportation transmissions tend to transend to temperature tragity while trailering trailers too. Technological termination typically tends to tell the tail. Thanks
highly informative!!! Didn't even touch on the turn-ya-wheel-in-the-opposite-of-where-ya-wanna-go bit...clearly I don't have to master that skill. Phew... just gotta look out for sparks and wobbles. Cheers!!
At the end I thought you were going to say, "that means you left your trailer". You've got the right idea, best to blame it on all of those trailer thieves 😂
We're any trailers harmed in the making of this video? I am also going to have my husband watch this before we go camping this summer. (We are in the US). Safety first.
The content was wonderful as it always is, but the editing was top notch! Those transitions were perfect for the video and gave me serious nostalgia for every training and safety video I've watched over the years.
Bros got this covered, it was also interesting to learn more about loading/connecting a trailer to a vehicle. Great vid, Keep up the Great Work & Stay Safe Guys 😎 👊 1:04 Idiot Object (Kekw)
I watched this entire video without sound, thinking that was part of the joke. Then, upon trying to watch a video that wasn’t supposed to be funny, I realized my iPad had secretly attached to a pair of headphones I wasn’t wearing. Pranked by my own equipment. So…. You’re also funny without sound. Good on ya.
I just literally laughed out loud for the first time in a long time!! Haha _If you can’t see your trailer in any of your mirrors, that means your…… trailer fell off and you should go back and get it!_ lmao! That shit was funny! 😄
... should have two safety chains criss-crossed so if it does fall off the ball.. then its doesn't scrape the road and just sits on the chain. BTW.. that single chain is too long
How much of an angle, both uphill and downhill can you go when pulling a trailer with an SUV or minivan? And how do you work that out on not overstressing the engine going uphill? thanks. (I live near mountains.)
Very good, with the holiday times arriving and possibility to go out with the pandemic in a dip! Thanks for informing us, first time or seldom time trailer towers, of the most essential things. 0:45 Wait, hold up you're right. This video is How to Tow a trailer, not How to Attach a Trailer, thought it was one and the same. Well, guess you're just gonna have to make another video😊
If you enjoyed this valuable life skill - then please give the video a like. Cheers.
hahah this video is funny and sort of educating
Cheers
@Henry the banana sup
U-Haul should make everyone who rents a trailer watch this. im sure it's heaps better than what they give people.
Exactly! My people will reach out to their people.
They give people something where you are? Besides a time to return trailer by before you’re charged more…
To quote my Grandpa: "We swore we had the trailer hitched right. Then we hit a downhill and it beat the truck to the bottom."
This cracked me up more than I expected! 🤣 It was both nonsense at times and actual advice, brilliant!
As pedestrians my baby and I were almost hit by a runaway trailer once, those things can fly when they aren't hooked up correctly! This video is bound to save lives, thanks How to Dad!
I’ve seen a trailer sailing down the freeway on its own as well, must be more common that one might expect!
In Europe we have a thin wire instead of that chain. The wire pulls on the trailer's brakes and then gets ripped off. The trailer comes unattached completely but will stop quickly

Special effects in this video were amazing, specialy the sound effects of the sparks and the slow motion :-)
Thank you. The sparks were very hard to reproduce. But to be honest, I'm not sure where the slow motion was? Maybe I'm just a bit slow.
@@HowtoDad yeah there wasn't any slow-mo lol.
oh man this is going to help alot! I've been doing it wrong all this time🤦♂️ thanks how to Dad!
My pleasure.
@@HowtoDad Im a UA-camr myself but this is hands down my favorite channel to watch 😊
This is going to help Alot? Who is Alot?
@@StoneE4 lol Alot is the name of my trailer 🤣🤣
@@midwesternhooftrimmer6735 Well, I hope you absorbed *a lot* of the information in this video so you don't end up losing or damaging _Alot._

Stay tuned...MORE TO COME!

Thank you for the trailer training video. I think I’m ready to tow a trailer now. 🤞
If you find your trailer trying to pass you.... HA HA great video.
Thank you for the additional visualisation of sparks, I needed that :D

I have a 24' fifth wheel machinery trailer, now that's when you need to steer wide!

When did this channel become an actual legitimate educational one??
If this is legitimate to you I am worried 😅
No trailers were damaged or lost in the making of this instructional video. As always, mind your load.
I'm meant to be learning how to do this. I broke the rope. 👍
I don't even know what the rope is for. I'm clearly educated.
it’s so if the hitch fails then the rope keeps the trailer from leaving the car.
also their supposed to be called breakaway chains
Golden 👍🤙🤙
