Tho it was beautiful, but this story was really about stupid kind on love. Bai jue love full if sacrifice and longer than the series, he wasn't showed his feeling openly. Always did everything in the shadow. For hundred thousand years. While shang gu when she was found out bai jue loves her and started to love him back,n she was kept silent until evertyhing was to late. It frustating really. Read the novel were way much frustated than watched the series. Their happiness really started after bai jue were reborn.but it wasn't complete because they can't be with their son untuil i don't know, the translatation still not finished. The author really love to wrote angsty novel.

Can I just say that part of me thinks it's crappy what he did. Yeah I know, big true love and he wanted her to live buuuuut you could also say that he did not want to live without her. She had already died, she didn't feel anything anymore. Only he was so hurt that he didn't want to go on. So what does he do? He brings her back and makes her go through the same thing as him only worse cause now there's a kid.
bai jue taking away shanggu's reason of becoming chief was so beyond selfish. we know that the original god favours shanguu and created her to be chief. and one of the most important requirements is the ability to sacrifice oneself to save all. shanguu was prepared to do that and show the world she is wothy to be the chief. but bai jue HAD to take that away from her. basically taking away the reason of why she chose go down the path of chief. we know by the ending that the God is able to bring back true gods so God was most likely going to bring shanguu back like it did for bai jue. and the whole drama of abandoning houchi just really left a horrid taste in my mouth. there was no clear antagonist for him to make a giant scene of leaving his family. all of his actions were based in selfish love for shanguu and not this whole universal love his reputation was based on. and its so frustrating seeing how people don't aknowledge that. that poor child never seeing his father and his own mother doesn't recognise him because baijue took away his memories
But if you want season 2 based on the novel then you will only see bai jue and shang gu one in a while. Because second novel was about their son. While the frst novel as decribed way much better in the series. And there was no more . If they want to made not based on the novel they could tho.
