I'm often shocked and saddened by the hateful comments on UA-cam. Jimmy Martin is an outstanding performer. I'm sure he'd be ashamed of the comments here.
I'm 30 and listen to Jimmy Martyn daily. Hope this brings a little bit of comfort to you. I think he's a legend. If it were me, I couldn't hope for much more than that. And if I have the pleasure someday of having children and grandchildren, you better rest goddamn assured that they will listen to this stuff too.
Made my hair stand up, give me goosebumps then the words took over made me cry like a baby. Thank you father for everything you’ve done for little me….praise you praise you
We are all small in comparison to G-d. The fact that He would sacrifice Himself in the Son Christ Jesus is a true testament of His love for us poor sinners. Thank you Jesus!
I went to my great uncle Jimmy Martins house growing up and I remember Ol Pete. He had a lot of dogs . He made me cry laughing everytime I saw Jimmy. He was the BEST !!!!!!
Hey Rhonda, I was down on 57 Easter Brothers had his bus sitting on the lot, I talked to someone there, he said go on board take a look, Jimmy was gone I did a walk around and left, I got some good vides just seeing it.
Back in the day there was'nt many any better than Jimmy Martin. This was the best version of this song that I have ever heard I love it could listen to it everyday such a great sound and harmony Kenny Ingram really put his all into his playing and singing.Jimmy Martin was the King of Bluegrass.
It’s no coincidence that the very hat he wears in this video… is the one in the picture on his tombstone. He bought it at Loretta Lynn’s clothing store at the time. It’s a woman’s rodeo hat.🤷♂️ Jimmy thought it would look good on stage. It did.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🥃
I knew Jimmy and he had a kind heart and soul. His voice was the richest and smoothest ever to sing and was God given. Rest in peace Jimmy and God bless you!
Jimmy Martin was a major force in bluegrass music. He could have been a super star in country and bluegrass had it not been for his personality. It's a shame because his recordings are among the greatest ever made.
Better question. Who has watched this video a 100 times (at least) BEFORE seeing the Mike Bub vid and his mention of it? Still waiting on Otis to post that Amazing Grace on the pipes beside Earl’s grave in the twilight tho.
My Dad dated a girl that was a bluegrass station DJ. According to her, Jimmy Martin, upon meeting her for the first time, asked for some trim. My feelings for him are, shall we say, muted.
Well honestly Jimmy was kinda of a rebel in bluegrass he drank smoked cussed and fought all the time that was the reason he didn’t get to the opry but no of that matters he loved Jesus and was the best singer and entertainer of True Grass in history now I love Big Mon(the father of bluegrass)The Stanley Bros and Larry Sparks but Jimmy was the King for a reason
@SOTHISISDEMOCRACY , Carter was very good and I love all His and Ralphs music! But Hands down Jimmy Martin Was the best Singer and and his music had so much drive!! Jimmy's guitar playing and RUNS was second to NONE!!!!!
What a marvelous video of one of the greatest Bluegrass entertainers we've ever known. The impeccable mandolin work by the great Ronnie Prevette defined Martin's music for years. This is such a treat to view. Thanks for sharing!!
(When he reached down his hand for me) Once my soul was astray from the heavenly way I was wretched and vile as could be But my Saviour in love gave me peace from above When he reached down his hand for me When he reached down his hand for me when he reached way down for me I was lost and undone without my God or his son When he reached down his hand for me I was near to despair when he came to me there And he showed me that I could be free Then he lifted my feet gave me gladness complete When he reached down his hand for me When he reached down...

You go bwjr Jimmy was The King and Like Elvis to Rock n Roll, No One can ever bump him from that position. Jimmy had more heart in his little finger than most will ever see. May your soul rest in peace Jimmy and I pray you are sitting at the feet of our Sweet Jesus
You are correct. The Gift of Salvation is something you must accept into your heart. The gift of forgiveness of your sins being bought and paid for by Jesus Christ. Once that gift is receieved, you will live for the Lord.
Jimmy had some good stuff. My favorites: twenty twenty vision walking around blind. I can't quit cigarettes. Ocean of diamonds. Saw him embarrass a player who could not keep time. Stopped the show and told audience to take a good look at this old boy cause he won't be back. Man!
Jimmy Martin was great and always had a great group of musicians. This song here showed how great they were. The banjo player I cant call his name right now played with Rhonda Vincent till just recently and replaced him his first name is Kenny but I cant think right now of his last name.
Bryan Osborne & Fiddlin' Al are right on here as far as who the players are. And listen to that quartet - Jimmy wouldn't want or allow it to be any less. Great pickers - check Ronnie Prevette (mando) when he worked w/ Larry Richardson & Red Barker. Great clip - thanks for the post. Yes, Jimmy Martin DOES rule!
@@amandarhodes9621 Oh, Sorry - Bless His Heart - I thought I had read in Bluegrass Unlimited (mag) at some point that he had passed. Is he still playing?
Beautiful song beautifully done. My mom a Martin. This man is family. Much love and blessings....

Thank you Jimmy and the boys...
Grew up on church music like this. I know Jimmy was a Tennessee boy, but this makes me homesick for my old Kentucky home.
Nobody could sing like Jimmy.
My dad drove Jimmy's tour bus for a while
Cool.... do you have any pics or stories to tell?
Beautiful. Remembering the early days of being saved.
Amen indeed!!

What great music! Remember when my mom would listen to these same songs! Sadly, I do not hear such singing as this.
He wears his hat like a KING. The Greatest singer in Bluegrass

King of bluegrass JIMMY MARTIN
Jimmy Martin was a major force in bluegrass music. He could have been a super star in country and bluegrass had it not been for his personality. It's a shame because his recordings are among the greatest ever made.
Can you expound on his personality? There are truly great men who don't fit the mold of what the world wants. I know this from vast experience!
Another great one from the King of Bluegrass! I miss Jimmy and his music a lot!
Who else is here because of the interview Otis Gibbs posted of Mike Bub?
Yes indeed, and I have been looking at John Hartford and Earl Scruggs too, not to mention Del and the boys…..
🙋🏻♂️yes
