So coming from a heavier part of the music world, there were times when I experimenting with drop d tuning and other stuff like that...In this video I explore some of what I think are some nice voicings to use if you're playing with drop tunings, and stuff that works well in the heavy stuff...Like djent. Or whatever.

Ok I’m 10 seconds in and the intro of dropping equipment has already won me over.
5:40 what a beauty chord
gone through so many videos on expanding chord progressions in drop d and i swear this one is exactly what i wanted to hear thankyou
8:24 the sweetest lick ever.
2:50 Remined me of 'Mile Zero' by Periphery, they've got some amazing drop tuned chords in their songs
Veil of maya is the anong the best of drop tuned chords
Dude I can't tell you how amazing this video is. I play bass and have started jamming with my friend who plays in drop c#, which is mega confusing and also frustrating since we keep reverting to the open c# as a minor chord, but this has really helped when coming up with new ideas when thinking of the c# open root/chord as a different chord. Anyway...cheers!!
Awesome John! Takes me back to my days of listening to bands like Funeral for a friend. I'll have to dust off my rock chops and give this a go. Thanks as always for the inspiration.
Congratulations uncle John! And thanks for the lesson. You know I love some djenty, proggy, drop tuning stuff. It hadn’t occurred to me to use the D as the IV chord. It should have. I’ll be using that stuff a lot.
Good chords man. Really expands the styles one can play in drop-d. Your playing here had a midwest emo vibe.
I was analyzing the main riff from The Way The News Goes by Periphery-one of my favorite riffs of theirs. The notes fit quite nicely into....A major pentatonic (with just a few other notes sprinkled in: G#, A#, C). The two primary chords implied are the Dmaj9 and F#min7-again fitting nicely into the key of Amaj.
Man, this is inspiring gold! Thank you!
Enjoying your channel...Thanks

I wonder if John Cordy can do metal.. ? 🤘
Hi john, can you tell me how to set the amp to make the tone sound just like you played in the video ?
Would be nice if you showed how to play the chords for ppl like me who can’t find the notes you’re talking about easily
Hey dude, I subscribed to your Patreon but can’t find the tabs to this video specifically. I found the ones for another drop d video but it’s for minor chords. Am I just not looking it up correctly?
Hey Vic! I'll find them and send the link! It's a bit difficult to navigate older stuff on there!
