What is ESO?
The Elder Scrolls Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) set in Tamriel, the ancient land that includes the provinces of Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Skyrim. ESO takes place during the Age of Heroes, 1,000 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This is the time of the Interregnum between the end of the Second Empire with the assassination of the last Akaviri Potentate in 2E 430 and the founding of the Third Empire under Tiber Septim in 2E 897 (3E 1). The Interregnum was a period of chaotic political change and constant warring between the various provinces of Tamriel as they struggled for dominance over the Imperial throne in the Cyrodiilic heartland. Embark on an epic adventure to save the land from a seemingly unstoppable evil in a sprawling storyline that can be experienced on your own or with friends.
I also made the switch from PC to Playstation years ago, and you took the words right out of my mouth. Without add-ons, I learned to appreciate and acknowledge the exploration of the new zones I would travel to. When I had add-ons, I would completely ignore the lore-filled points of interests, and just do skyshards. When I switched to PS, I explored parts of the base game zones that I never been to, went into delves I never went into, and it was like a new experience.
The PS5 version of ESO is extremely immersive to me for some reason. The controller combined with a slower pacing reels me in. I played the PC version for many years on and off, and I still do. The PC version is obviously superior in many ways for mods, quality of life, and the mouse. But the two versions just feel different at the core. The vibe of PC is much faster paced and to me, I complete content brainlessly. But the PS5 version (looking visually stunning by the way on my 1440p monitor) reels me in. There is something special about it. In my honest opinion, I'd have to agree there is something special about Console ESO from an exploration and experiencing the living breathing world perspective. ESO feels larger on console, again due to pacing. Whereas on PC, it just feels like another MMO. I believe all platforms are booming with players, so it does not matter what you choose (for US NA at least). All versions are incredible, nonetheless.

I have a cp level 2200 account on pc but I haven’t had a pc for over a year now and purchased a PS5. I absolutely hated starting over and find myself strictly power leveling every time I get on just to get somewhat close to what I lost. I miss all the add ons more than I can explain because I’m constantly needing skill points. I’m currently cp 400 on ps5 and thinking about just buying another pc
Get a new pc for sure. Lots of the PS5 exclusive games come to PC anyways. Amazing deals like free Diablo 4 coming now on Xbox game pass, Control and more. I see zero reason to start over on console unless you’re really struggling financially. eSO is not even that demanding honestly.
All the sony originals are on pc now last of us remake god of war and god of war ragnarok this year in september ghost of tsushima u can get alll xbox games on day one including cod black ops six for seventeen dollars a month if u buy xbox ultimate u also have all the xbox games on pc and get them day one u can get for example if you like assassins creed instead of not buying the game and not liking it after a while u get a ubisoft plus subscription for one month for eighteen dollars and play all the new ubi games the premium edition with all dlcs with day one access including the new star wars game game and assassins creed shadows so if u dont like the game or it is not worth eigthy dollars for anstandard version on psfive then u cancel ur subscription and then you didnt waste your hard earned buck
all game companies have a day one subscription service nowadays even ea does so if there comes lets say a fifa or jedi fallen order game u like u pay fiveteen dollars for a month for ea plus premium andu get the most exansive edition of the game day one which is hundredtwenty dollars nowadays on console i have a psfive with a great tv setup vrr and atmos everything but i prefer sitting in my pc chair over it i get so much more and i am able to try before wqsting eighty dollars or more and modding is a big plus
key sites are also a big plus outside of the official store sales i have a ubi plus premium subscription and a xbox ultimate for exaple I also have playstation plus premium for two years and still had to buy every game i wanted or wait a year for it to come to psplus for exact the same price i play everything i want for thirty dollars a month some titles i buy on steam or gog but the ability to play every release on day one which i also had bought if i was on console its much cheaper on year base
For example this year alone i if I would buy it on console I would buy
Cod Black Ops Six Vault edition
Star Wars Outlaws standard
AC Shadows standard
Elden Ring DLC upgrade standard
With psplus standard for online gaming thats fourhundred dollars for one year gaming the games i want tonplay on release
Now lets switch to pc
Cod black ops six vault edition u pay only the month u wanna play seventeen bucks so if the gane sucks i just lost seventeen instead of hundredtwenty i can even play with all my psfive friends due to crossplay and get all other xbox titles day one also included
I bought all ac games on psfive
Payed hundreds of euros
But on pc i buy ubisoft plus premium and get every ubi game the most exensive edition and new titles day one with three day early access thats star wars outlaws and ac shadows included the hundred twenty euro edition and I dont need psplus for online and Its cross platform so instead ofbpaying three hundred which i would for the same content on psfive for just to play two new ubi titles with friends i now pay eigtheen a month and if both games suck i cancell the subscription
games come out two months from each other so thats thirtysix dollars for being able to play the games instead of twohundredfourty
if they fail and i dont like it i spend one tenth of what i would spend on psfive
for me console gaming is unrewarding i have a psfive for years and a great gaming rig for pc both my tv has the power to display the full capabilites of my psfive and my screens have the full capability of getting the most out of my pc with newest pc games
I spend fivehundred on a console and sixthousends the last three year to game on it as well for games and gear upgrades like ssds etc
My pc is two thousand on components eigthundred for the monitor fourhundred for mouse keyboard and headset and mic
Thats a big investment for sure but this is a high end example because im a game and gear freak
but now I will spend the half of what i normally spend then with console gaming these days
And ofcourse these prices are high tech ultra settings examples cuz im a videophile
but a pc also runs for fivehundred dollars same price as psfive and from that point the versatility is all yours and when u game lokey or as much as i do
Please pay hundred more when setting up your setup to save thousends later

I played on console since launch. Moved to PC to play with irl friends. I’m enjoying pc much more. I have a friend that’s an add on stan… i still don’t use add ons. I’m also not impacted in any way by others using them.
As well, i play with gamepad for the same reasons you state.
End of the say I think it all comes down to your preference. Play this game for you, no one else. If you’re enjoying it more in console, I’m just thrilled you’re playing this game i love so much!

i play on pc and have never installed an addon, but sometimes i do plug in a controller because it gives me the old skyrim vibes
I want to get back into eso and I been trying to decide between pc, Xbox, or ps5 not sure which route I want to go right now I just have a ps4 and gave my account to my son so I’m starting fresh. My main thought was how often I need to upgrade a pc? Consoles last till the next gen

as for "how often i need to upgrade a pc" - well, for a game like ESO you won't need to at all probably because the demand is very low in comparison to newer games.
but generally it will depend on the games you wanna play and what kind of PC you have today.

i can imagine that exzessive addon users play TESO like WOW - Rush Rush rush and get maxed out as quick as possible.
Which is not really the way to play ESO. It’s very much story driven.
i played it simelar 9 years ago two lvl 50s....now i got it again....but PC just did not work for me...playing for 1 hour and than....naa, no fun. Just out of curiousity i checked out the PS5 Version because of the HDR-Mode. And for some reason i found this much more enjoyable. I am still not 100% sure why this is. Just to know, everyplayer has to play by the same rules without any helpers is a good feeling. HDR makes the game look more interessting and i think i prefer the gamepadcontrols aswell.
You could play on PC with a gamepad - but its same with the addons, if you do not use mouse and keyboard -> huge disadvantage in gameplay in PVE and PVP.
So what is the point. It is the same argument from users, that claim the PVE-Difficulty is fine and balanced - and if you want it to be harder, then just do not wear any armor at all or just white stuff.
Again: I would play with different rules & limitations in a game, where i am supposed to play with others together OR against them. I would be useless for them and they would overpower me all the time. And for some reason i start to take more time to read books i find in the game or listen more to the dialogues. Slower gameplay is more relaxing and enjoyable.
So, the PS5 version it will be - also for the next Chapter. Exploration is the King of Fun.
I’m playing ESO on pc for 7 years now and thinking about switching to console for a while.
For me it really fits what you’re saying. One big thing is the feeling of exploration that you lose by using addons, that’s for sure. But it is even more than that. ESO has not the best reward structure itself but its content can be really rewarding by completing it or achieving something with people you like for example. But using these addons which literally tells you what to do on which Boss in which time you just brainlessly walk around and do those tasks. That’s another big point and there are plenty more.
And with all this fast paced stuff burning you out, stuff like questing becomes so meaningless to you cause it’s slow and doesn’t give you the biggest rewards. Eventhough it’s made with so much effort and love.
Atleast that’s what happened to me over and over again.
Will give it a try now on console and hope I can cure my old ESO heart to be able to enjoy this beautiful game for many more years to come!

I'm 35 years old and have never owned a gaming PC. I've always been a console gamer and always will be. I've played ESO on ps5 for about a year now, and it's turned into one of my favourite games of all time...
Only someone who has never played on PC would say that.
Playstation from day one, i like the fact a good mmorpg is on console and it works great, if im gonna play a mmorpg on pc then ill just play wow.
I enjoy the game more on PS5 than PC. I think it feels very natural with a controller, the UI is nice, and there are no add-ons mucking up the experience. The game looks better on PS5 for me too. I mean, in theory I'm running it at higher settings on PC and getting more frames too, but the colors on PS5 are gorgeous. I can't get my PC ESO to look like it. It's really stunning and brings the game to life.
I'm old(ish) and have been PC gaming for a long time and honestly no longer think it's all that and a bag of chips like I once did. It's good. Great even. But I no longer consider it de facto "the best". I appreciate my PS5 a lot as a medium to game on.
I started on PC but play on Xbox as well, I enjoy Xbox more because my map isn't all cluttered with pins for literally everything, my big beautiful 60 inch screen is so immersive, and I can talk to people without installing an additional, and security compromised program to do it. Trials are just more relaxing and fun on Xbox too. I understand completely about the joy of exploration, when Gold Road dropped on Xbox, I had watched a video where a player ran from Daggerfall to Necrom, I spent a few hours that day doing the run, then I started the scribing grind.
Your point of addons being an upside and downside of PC is a valid one but you completely have the wrong argument of the point. PC addons are a downside due to two major factors:
1) Addons make gold and material farming really easy and automated for certain things which makes the economy on PC worse. You also have the factor of bots and RMT on PC which also degrades the economy. TLDR of this: PC economy is poor.
2) Addons for combat will ruin the experience for some, if not many. You will have sweaty and elite players demanding players run certain addons in Trials to keep track of your dps and most of these players will kick you for being under certain numbers, some very much unrightfully so and are just being snobs. The console experience due to lacking addons is a much more chill environment where you don't have to worry about pigs breathing down your neck about dps numbers.
3) The addon TTC will have a positive effect of traders that don't get visited often will get traffic no matter what due to the addon saying where items are, but this addon forces supply and demand to constantly be on a creep downwards in price for all items due to this tool. It's always a game of "Who can put the lowest price for that item on the market" and it makes flipping as a gold making method a hell of a lot harder on PC due to everyone knowing the lowest prices and where they are at at all times.
What are the main points of playing ESO? Economy, socialization, PvP, and PvE content. Addons ruin 3/4 of these in some capacity. This is a good reason why Console is better than PC ESO. This is what your video should of been talking about instead of being just a 10 minute rant about how exploration is ruined by addons. An argument that is completely nullified by the argument of "Just turn them off then as it's a personal opinion" thing.
I prefer console gaming. I just wanna jump in and start playing games. I don't wanna tinker around with graphics cards and keyboard layouts.
To each his own obviously. Enjoy gaming however you want ☺️

True but as I referred to this in the video, all the other players probably use them. So you’re at a huge disadvantage.

But in a lifespan of years since release - best believe the competition will be gigantic and you’ll just have bad time.
I don't like the fact that on console I had to pay $10 a month for a multiplayer subscription on Xbox. I don't have to do this on pc.
Just make a new xbox account every 14 days and you get xbox ultimate for £1 for 14 days, just keep the account with xbox ultimate logged on too
Great video, I am just trying this game in XBOX mainly because I like the PVP and most of the ppl play with keyword and mouse and it is a great advantage against controller players. So I want to see if I have a better pvp experience where everyone compite under same hardware and rules and no add ons.
I don't like using an entire keyboard to play a game. And literally the only reason people say pc is because the add ons. I have everything on sony. I would never in a million years start over on PC just because add ons. None of the add-ons sound good enough for the switch. A mini map? Skyshards are an easy Google. Who tf has time to restart an mmo? It's ridiculous to even contemplate. I have like 50 actual days on sony. And took forever to understand the game. Imagine maxing out research again? I'd rather take a bath with a toaster. If they did cross progression I'd play on both. But probably mostly sony because It's a chill relaxing game and I want to relax on the couch and not upright in a gaming chair.
How can you play w/ that camera?

Hi there, in my very honest opinion you are just making so much fuss about it for no reason really... I agree with you that exploration is somewhat of a big thing in games like ESO but you also need to understand while you missed your oportunity to add the fact that at "lunch" you had no exploration element what soever... Why? Because "back then" every zone had different level scaling so you where "forced" to play by the game rules and explore by the game rules, until ofcource the update "One Tamriel".
Second part, big drama for no reason about the addons I personally played 1 character without addons and one with addons and I absolutelly noticed no big difference what so ever... The games has a way that all the books are shared beetwen all the zones so if you find books in one zone then you will see that said books are already discovered in other regions. Also the game has another way of "holding you hand" finding the books is not such a big deal you always bump onto them in your travels, the majority of said "purple books" are almost 90% of the time near quest objectives , quest givers ect... I can keep going on and on. The point is Addons are not "cheating" You said you played on PC as well as on Console, aight cool I guess but still you are talking about the same game. And if you need a reminder there is not better platform to play games on. Console exists for players who can't efford "A really good PC to run the game at max settings" that's the only reason for real. There is absolutelly no difference whatsoever between PC or Console.
AH and speaking about difference... In case you need a reminder PC's create the games you play on the console. I have literally no problem with anyone playing on console or on mobile I don't care but I also find it funny when said people are trying to give reasons made from "absolutes" on why a specific game is better played on one platform rather than the other. I am not here to bury your explaination or thoughts on the matter, but someone needs to tell you how wrong and unfair you sound to people playing a game how they want. And to step on my own comment Everyone plays the game however they want it's a game for this reason. If I want to use the toggle walk setting in ESO and just walk around the map I can do that, I can also disable the hud in the game and play like that too and take some nice screenshots while I am at it... If you want to speak about immersion "RPwalking and disabling hud" Are not in any way meant to give you immersion they are just there for people who want to use it. Also once again games like ESO have only one element that needs to be taken into account... Replayability... ESO is stated as an MMO RPG - Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying game.
It's in it's core a roleplaying game that's where the immersion starts, the choices you make that defines immersion not the reason if I can't rp walk. Oh a small. Oh a small "addon". ESO in my opinion is not the best MMO RPG. It's for people who enjoy the story of the Elder Scrolls series. The game is not for everyone. Also there are a ton of issues in the game that make it look not playable. Also... And that is the last point I am making... Addons doesn't ruin the exploration aspect in the game, players ruin it. How? Most of the community is aware that most content on the game can be done solo But not every class can solo every content... And not every content in the game is Soloable or to put it better, You need assistance from other players to defeat certain enemies... And if you want to do it solo you are gonna throw in a lot of time to get past half of the dungeon.
So the way players ruin the exploration aspect are the guys who just go and rush the quests while in group, take note that this has been happening since launch, for some people it doesn't matter... But for people who want to take their time and read what the quest giver is saying or if they want to take their time and listen to the conversation the npc's have with each other... Well you can't because people want to rush through the content and be done with it and go do something else which is understandable... I don't hate them for doing it but just like you said "I feel like it ruins the exploration aspect" If I rush through the content in a manner of 3 minutes...Right? So here is a solution for it as well... Play with friends!
OH you don't have friends? No problem join a Guild that suits your playstyle. Problem solved. And just like any problem that we as players can fix by our selfs we can do so without making such a big drama out of it... Don't you think? Well drama is a strong word here but you get my point I hope not just the creator but anyone really who took the time to read the thesis above.

But for everyone else who wants to buy and try the game in case you stumble across the video and wonder what platform should I buy the game for?
Short answer? IT DOES NOT MATTER in the slightest, If you want for all the reasons above take into considaration that you are gonna be in a DISADVANTAGE either way. When you login in the game, you start with NOTHING.
And if you want to get good gear you need to either craft it (easiest option) or FARM IT and it takes a long time. Anyways just buy the game wherver you want it doesn't matter at all just have fun however you want my dudes and don't listen to anyone, hell don't even listen to me as well, do what you want just don't "seek validation" from people especially people who don't know what they are talking about. (No offense creator).
Anyways thanks for reading I guess. We can even make it a thread and talk about it bellow it doesn't matter but let's just keep it civil as much as possible.

The point of the video was to give a voice for console players too as they might not have a lot if any advantages over PC … so giving a video that goes on a little different path and giving some nice benefits of playing via console is nice.

"Slower pace movement with controller" PC's can use controllers too, but also there is a setting that is called toggle walk/run in game. "Feel of exploration without addons" they are optional and they offer no advantage whatsoever. Everything from purple books quest markers ect... You can easily find them in your travels.
These are the benefits that you mentioned am I missing something?
Also how did it come to you that I was mad? I literally took time to listen to everything you said and left my honest opinion as well. Or at least that's how a conversation normally goes at least... I don't see how that makes me mad, to be honest I coudln't care less but by making a video you having a bigger influense over others, people tend to seek validation and insight from others to make a good choice.

@@gertoise Everyone who don't understand how something works always tries to find the easy way to excuse the inability of not being able to adapt or actually sit down for a moment and understand how to make it work. Literally you can craft or farm anything you might need in the game, every item is made by the player.
That means that the economy of the game is made by the player as well. If you want something you can literally craft it, it doesn't need more than 2 braincells active. You learn the recipe you craft the item and then use it or sell it. I don't know where you are strugling honestly... I would love to help you out to understand but you need to offer a bit more information than "bro the economy on pc is trash like wtf."

I own the game on both xbox and pc but most of my dlc, gear, and playing time is on xbox. It's fun as hell but microsoft's gold paywall is sort of pushing me towards playing ESO and other games on pc now instead. I just hate I have to start my progress over.
Only good thing console has over PC is the voice chat, I miss it but overall game runs better on PC. I can actually play Cyrildil in 4K 120 fps no dips in fps or latency.

The socialization is better on Playstation in my opinion, and I’m currently playing on PC again. I miss how chatty PS5 NA was, because PC NA isn’t as chatty.
I went pc to PlayStation as well. I noticed this with arpgs like Diablo 3 too. Even though you can play the game easier on mouse and keyboard. It just feels better with a controller and your feet up on a couch.
Most people I try to get to play ESO quit because the combats too easy/boring. Addons just make it even more brain dead.
