I stayed at a couple Kindness Hotels during my vacation in Taiwan. The service and rooms are very nice. The complimentary breakfast was always great!
A hotel with free ice cream and cake! That is all kinds of awesome!!

You nailed it about American buffets. It’s all about how much they can put out there and how low of a price they can charge. Unfortunately when a buffet does do a good job on quality food it gets very popular which in return makes them lower quality so they can bring more people and money in. Don’t get me wrong you can get good food in the states but unless you travel I highly doubt you’ll ever enjoy great food.
You don't have to travel to enjoy great food. Just learn to cook!
Anna Inspain unfortunately not everyone lives where certain types of foods are available. I also maybe eat out 1-2 times a month. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone else cook and to enjoy something you either don’t or can’t make yourself.
Tony John that is how we were bought up. Most meals were home cooked and then as a special treat we would go out to eat. I think some people do it the opposite way around these days. I cook for my parents at least once a week to give Mum a break and I love to cook.

the "egg donut" is a fried 銀絲卷 ("silver thread bun"). If you look at an entire loaf, the inner layer (the "egg" part) is actually composed of strips of mantou-like bread threads. it's delicious!

We stayed at the Kindness hotel and loved it as well earlier this year.

Mashing things together, that reminded me - there's a Hungarian dish called paprikás krumpli (potatoes with paprika) where the potatoes are sliced up into long segments, and people tend to mush them up with the fork, so it mixes well with the sausages and the paprika broth around it. You should definitely try it one day, it's a pretty cool staple dish :D

If you like mashing things together come to the Netherlands. A bunch of our national foods are basically just mashed together ingredients. Like Potatoes with kale and bacon mashed together served with a kinda salty think sausage and gravy.

Oh my gosh I stayed at the kindness hotel over summer with my grandparents!! It was really nice and they had loads of snacks
