    A question I ALWAYS get, "How much does this cost?" Today, we are looking at part 2 of our tour of Recreation Ponds, Swim Ponds, Natural Pools and talking about how much they cost. Also, we'll go through what it's like to live with and take care of one of these recreation ponds with our good friend, Alan Decker from Decker's Pondscapes in Pattersonville, NY

    I’m glad you guys are doing these series of videos. I have been convinced for sometime now that this is the future of swimming pools. As people grow more environmentally conscious they will see The benefits in interacting with a natural ecosystem habitat, not only for personal enjoyment but a satisfaction of giving back to nature.

    I love this one, the thought of swimming without chlorine would be great. Never afford it, but lovely!

  • @Poetessa2
    @Poetessa2 2 роки тому +1

    I love every one of them! I had a huge pool for 5 years, I'm allergic to chlorine and not a big swimmer, so I went in maybe 5 times in 5 years during a heat wave and felt awful after!! It was a pain to constantly clean and maintain and very expensive when things went wrong. And for most of the year it had an ugly black cover and was a total eye-sore so we never used our outdoor space once the cover went on in the fall. And yes, it broke my heart every time I found a dead frog in the skimmer!!! But I LOVE being around water and I love wild life!! THIS would have been HEAVEN!!! I would never waste my money putting in another sterile, chemical filled pool but I would beg, borrow or steal to put something like this in and enjoy it all year round. Especially for those of us up north where we have around 3 months pool time, this makes so much more sense and is so much healthier for humans and the environment!! If I still had a pool I would convert it to a pond!! A++++

Wish you could convince Kenan to use his circulation jets on his pond, it would be so much more clear! I've shown several friends your Rec Pond builds since they want pools...barf, when a rec pond would better suit their needs...! 👍👍👍😄

    You made what I always dreamed of. I had a frog who adopted me. She came from nowhere to live in the flowers on my balcony. No pond at all, not even water around, but she stays here for years. I had a lot of flowers but still nothing for her to get in the water. She let me touch her when she was taking sun on my guardrail. I would have been happy to offer her such a good place. I say her, because Frog is a feminine word in French but maybe it was a boy 😀. She was a cute little green frog singing few minutes every evening.
    I probably won't have that ever but who knows

    These recreation ponds are so desirable. I would love to have one in my backyard but like you mentioned in this video you're bringing nature to your backyard and there are so many things going on unlike a standard pool. Unfortunately for me, living in Newark NJ, I don't want to attract the wrong animals lol. I am hoping in time with enough knowledge and experience I can determine if a recreation pond is something I can pursue. But this video is so enticing and would make anyone consider a rec pond. Love the video !!

    Last one was definitely my favorite. I loved the deeper section with the large jumping-off rock at the edge and the circular seating section around the deepest area. When you talk about having to pay for bacteria for maintenance though... Isn't this just a big fish tank? The nitrogen cycle does the majority of the work keeping the water clean along with a media filter (gravel/sand). All you really need to jump start the nitrogen cycle is ammonia and and enough course surface area to hold the bacteria, then the bacteria will breed and multiply from there. If you add fish to the system, either in the main pool or an attached (much smaller) secondary pond, the fish will add ammonia for you. All you have to do is feed them and they will be a beautiful (or tasty) addition to the pool and save money on additives.
