A friend and I wandered into Heart of Texas Music in Austin many years ago on a business trip, to get a guitar fixed. I had no idea the Texas blues history I was walking into. Was greeted by the owner, Ray Hennig, who knew Stevie personally and sold him his #1 Strat. Chatted about things I’ve only read about, dropped off the guitar and left still not understanding where I was. When we picked up the repaired guitar a few days later, Jimmy Vaughn and his lovely wife, w/ 2 little babies were at the counter! I chickened out from interrupting him and paid for the repair. Coming back out here was still there, so I had to meet him! I walked up a little nervous and introduced myself and said a bunch of idiotic fan stuff. He was nice and said pleased to meet you or something. Turned to go look at other stuff, and I believe his lovely wife elbowed him in the ribs and said “go talk to those guys!” :) He walked into the room where I was testing the repaired Strat and hung out, chatted about Dallas and local musicians, he picked up my Strat and effortlessly noodled some classic blues licks. Then he said y’all be safe and left. Out in the parking lot in the car, we’re still kind of in shock, and realized we didn’t get an autograph. Then out comes the Vaughn family and my friend leaps out and accosts him (very politely) again. Jimmy says, “Lemme just put these babies in the truck”, signs autographs, chats some more, and he’s gone. Thanks Vaughn Family, I’ll never forget your graciousness to us!
@@hkguitar1984 Thanks for the feedback! It’s the kind of story I really find interesting (not my own) But I’m not the norm. Once heard a guy say he was backstage at some random concert, was following a small group of ppl and mentioned he was looking for a light. Guy in front turns and it’s Keith Richards, lights cig for him, says “brilliant” or some British thing. That’s it. Not even my story. I love that stuff.
I can't think of anybody better than Jimmy to handle the whole legacy of SRV. I have no doubt that he is the person who loved, cared, and understood him better than any other human, save their mother, maybe... We will never cease to miss Stevie... Thanks for keeping care of SRV business, Jimmy.
His brother was famous first & the band he started The Fabulous Thunderbirds are still going strong without him. He put his career on the back burner, less shows, tours to focus on handling SRV estate and releasing his music, videos unheard unseen. They played together alot. He isn't using Stevie to get rich.
I see you are guessing. Allow me to help you. Jim did not help start the thunderbirds he just played with them once they had an opening because of a founding members new deal. He was only a member for a very short time. Jim already slowed down from the road and Stevie was the only one who could get him to do a gig. No he is not using SRV to get rich those are trolls....He is keeping him momory alive and rightly so. Jim was not always kind to Steve Jim was not always kind to anyone but he has changed quite alot. Jim gave up his seat in the Thunderbirds to Duke Robalard which took them to star status and then the Thunderbirds started seeing money. Jim def is glad SRV divorced his wife prior to his passing. She was the reason the money was light and SRV parted ways because he was not getting high anymore but she had a habit so out of control it would kill the average person. He was on the road and almost never saw her but once he did he knew then she had to go. That very night if I remember correctly. He sent her packing with suitcases and two laundry baskets. She shows up at events sometimes but not many people like her.
@@russtay The Thunderbirds Were HUGE🔥🔥🔥!! And So Damn GOOD!! Jimmie Is STILL Touring Now @ 71 With His Own Band & I'm So Happy For His Success!! He Never Needed Help Making His Own💲With His Hot 🎸 & Voice!
We all know that but here is what you dont know. The worst day Stevie ever had in his life was letting John hammond sign him. I know this from my fathers expeironce wirth him back in the late 50s. I am just happy he divorced his wife before he passed. She was taking most of what he had and he didnt even know it.
Stevie wasn’t married when he died so who better to inherit his estate than his brother ? They were really very close brothers. And loved one another for certain. It had to be tough to lose his baby brother. Jimmy’s a wonderful talent in his own right.
Obviously whoever made this video knows nothing about the Vaughan Brothers and the enormous loss Jimmie was dealt and the struggle to stop corporate sharks from using Stevies name and likeness for profit, he's protecting the interests of his beloved brother and the image he created for himself. Stevie was so proud of his big brother and he's the best person alive to care for Stevies estate and I guarantee he's not doing it for the money, don't second guess the love of a brother from the outside, and make a video about someone you know about next time. RIP Stevie, miss you
%💯 His Bro knows what’s up Keep SRV legacy STRONG and earn You some $ while doing so . Stevie would want His Bro to be able to live off it as well His Bro take care of any woman he truly loved and or had kids with as well as other siblings & parents and in the order Just would want to leave it the person or persons you know who’d do things the right way .
Agree, Jimmy would obviously want his brother back. Have seen vids of him speaking of Stevie and it some are hearth wrenching. Jimmy does have to protect hsi bros legacy, there are too many scum bags out there. And why shouldnt Jimmy benefit? He was part of Stevies work and musical world. Also, Jimmy assuredly released those albums so the world would remember his brother. The live album is awesome. Whats most important, what would stevie want? Think he would want exactly how it ended up, with his brother, who he loved, looking over him and his work. Any critics can GFTs
BTW Stevie was credited with singlehandedly resurrecting the blues from eminent death in the 1980s breathing life into many careers like Buddy Guys. BLUES, get it right, he was played on rock stations but Stevie was pure Blues.
Agreed..These are true facts. Stevie opened up eyes in a generation that had little to offer for the struggling Blues musicians by sharing their music and giving credit acknowledging all of them, even to his last days. He did have help earlier on from some of his friends overseas. The Rolling Stones and others like Eric Clapton held studio sessions in 1970 called London Session with Howling Wolf (which showed true administration and influences for Real American Blues). Howling Wolf made sure Hubert Sumlin was there and participated in the recordings. Many people say it was Wolfs Raspy voice and Hubert's guitar that made Howling Wolfs signature sound. Stevie loved Hubert..lol they were great friends. Eventually within about 13 years all the guys that participated in the session became friends with Srv & Double Trouble. They all loved each other as a musical family. Sorry for the long reply....just passionate about Blues and it's survival.
Pretty much accurate - he brought back TEXAS style like Johnny Winter and T-Bone W; but the 80s also had some roots rock with blues baked in going on before Stevie came to join - others like So Cal's the Blasters and Los Lobos and Stray Cat's boogie blues; we even had a couple Fabulous Thunderbirds LPs before we heard of Stevie. I worked for EMI when Stevie was doing some work for Bowie and the resurrected Blue Note jazz label where Stevie played on Bennie Wallace's LP - look THAT bad boy up - so unknown that they mis-spelled his name (Vaughn) on the LP jacket art and I caught it in time for them to re-print for subsequent pressings. Sat about 10 feet away from him when he and DT did a showcase across the street on Vine at the old Palace. The ozone smell was thick, such that the Marshalls were on 11 before he hit a note. The wild, cocaine 80s, baby. 🎸
@cuda426hemi ,I love Los logos and Brian Setzer and Jimmie and the Tbirds and many more but Stevies playing always stood out to me, I've seen Eddie Vanhalen and Eric Clapton, Muddy waters, BBKing, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Brian May, Dickey Betts, Brian Setzer, and some I can't think of right now but Stevies sound was different from all the rest to me.
@@harryayre9050 Stevie was like an old friend (the Texas Blues) coming back to say Hi! I think he had a real personal "style" although hamstrung into the pentatonic blues idiom (unlike say Jeff Beck who transcends styles - I've seen at least 4 "different" Becks in concert from his early group thru Blow by Blow to the group with the great Tal Wilkenfeld on Bass) and to forge a "style" within the simple Blues idiom is very difficult - I DON'T think Bonamassa is doing it - JoBo is more of a "sampler" of clichés to me (bring on the hate) played very well. I've seen them all (Eddie @ the Starwood before they were signed, a 3 block walk from where I lived in '77 - I thought he was "okay" back then), all the hair bands etc) - but of course you are right that Stevie stood out. For Blues in the 70s I think Gibbons had a unique style, too BEFORE the goofy MTV synth crap. I think Peter Green of the original Mac was an alien from another planet because he not only "got" the blues but he got downright spooky - see The Supernatural, Green Manalishi (with the two pronged crown) and Black Magic Woman which I don't think Santana did any favors to. Used to see THAT Mac and Ten Years After at the Boston Tea Party before I moved West. You save any ticket stubs? That's my book of memories - all I have to do to go down memory lane is look through my box of hundreds of tix stubs and back stage passes - almost better than photos!!! ☮
@cuda426hemi I have alot of stubs that I made a large peace symbol of and framed it, I agree with you on JOBO(no hate) and as for Jeff Beck you're correct again, his ability to morph styles is incredible, Tal Wilkenfeld is one of my favorite bass players ever! lately I've been listening to Eric Gales and Roy Buchanan as well as Edgar Winters newest record "Brother Johnny" which is a great record, Jimmie Vaughans LP "Baby please come home" gets played regularly too but I still listen to Stevie with awe, watching the El Mocombo show occasionally, I sure miss him
I'm 57 from Austin. Saw him a couple of times. About 2017 The Bob Bullock museum in downtown Austin had a Stevie Ray Vaughan exhibit. There were many of his guitars, hand written lyrics, hats, straps, pedals etc. All owned by Jimmy. It was cool to up close to see his #1 up close, front and back. The last time I had seen it was in his hands
Jimmie, Is the proper steward of his brother Stevie’s estate and legacy. Despite their hard times they had love and respect for each other. Jimmie has matured a lot in the years following Stevie’s death and the loneliness he feels with all his family gone has got to be heartbreaking.
I understand the lose. It’s hard losing your brother or sister. I only had my parents and my brother. And he passed early last year. So I know that empty place in your soul.
Yes. That one sentence hurts like hell... Jimmy sure love is little brother. And losing him in that tragical way, and after all that SRV fought to come clean and sober... I can't even grasp the pain. Blessed be both Vaughan brothers.
Nobody with an ounce of sense or integrity has ever questioned JLV's motives or stewardship of his brother's estate or musical legacy. Utterly ignorant to even suggest such a thing.
If anyone wishes to see a true legend performing a blistering style of blues, watch his performance at El Macambo. I've been playing guitar for over 45 years and consider myself quite accomplished. After watching Live at El Macambo years ago, I literally did not play for weeks. I was completely floored and humbled at the same time. I once read that on the night of the tragedy, Eric Clapton was to follow Stevie. Eric said that he literally forced himself to leave or else he would not have been able to play on the same stage. I fully understand Eric's state of mind. Truly an unbelievable talent and human being.
I was at his show at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC mid 80s. I’ve also seen his brother Jimmy a few times who’s also a accomplished guitarist. The brothers were tight so I’m sure Stevie is looking down smiling knowing his older brother is reaping some benefits of his music.
Stevie was the most generous caring person when he was alive and I'm sure that Jimmy would rather give it all back to see his brother again. STEVIE WAS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC NOT MONEY FOR THOSE OF US WHO GOT TO KNOW HIM.
SRV was the best r and b and all around guitar player ever. His timing was excellent. He evn played jazz incredibly well. He was amazing. He was so good GOD HIMSELF requested an audience.
Yes, He Was - But Stevie Would Have You Back Up One On That! He Knew That His Talent, His Opportunities AND His Second Chance @ Life Were ALL GOD GIVEN, & He Was Deeply Thankful & Devout...He Never Wanted To Be Thought Of As More Than He Was... (Still Then) Human! You Are MISSED, You Are LOVED.... God🙏Bless You, Stevie!💞💗😘
I feel sorry for Jimmie having the responsibility for Stevie's legacy. That's a big responsibility and no matter what he does he will be criticised. If he releases something he's criticised for capitalising on his brother's legacy, but more importantly, if he doesn't, he's burying his brother's legacy, and I think that's more important. Stevie was one of the most important and influential guitarists around through the 80s and 90s and his legacy needs to be heard. I have noticed that Stevie's posthumous catalog leans almost exclusively toward his pure 'blues' output. I'm guessing that this is Jimmie's influence - he was always more a pure blues man than Stevie was, and I think that Jimmie believes he is handling Stevie's legacy with more respect by focusing on the less commercial blues material, rather than the more 'popular' (commercially successful) rock material. But I'm going to be honest and say that it was Stevie's incendiary live playing that captured me. His music always came out of him like a freight train, and after he'd exorcised his own demons, when you didn't think it was possible his playing got even better, imbued with a new clarity and nuance and a new level of intensity that raised the bar a few more notches. I'd love to see some of those concerts released; Jimmie, you won't be getting any criticism from me for capitalising on Stevie's legacy, because I know that's not the case. His legacy needs to be heard.
SRVs mom passed in 2020 prior she gave the estate to Jim because she could no longer keep up. Now Jim is controlling it and doing a great job. Jim has a son who is playing and he sounds pretty good. They both lived in my neighborhood which believe it or not is the same hood T Bone walke was born in. The Vaughns grew up in a old black section of town but were cool enough to be kept safe. Jim however was not always that friendly and almost seemed to not like black folks but he did come around once or twice a week until he ran off. No one ever asked why but we all kinda knew how hard it was living in that house. I just dont understand how many trolls are on this page.....

It's a bigger shame that these forms of currency around the world are perceived as being more valuable by some people to pursue, when it's true value isn't worth the paper it's printed on. @@216Numbskull I wholeheartedly agree. I hate money with every fibre of my being because it has become my very being. All of my time is spent to ‘earn a living’ without much time to even appreciate living. It seems in order to enjoy the simple things in life (the love of family and friends) we have to have money in the bank to pay bills to keep the lights on to visibly see them in the first place. I spend the majority of my time trying to think of alternative societal structures to circumnavigate currency altogether and there’s a few methods that could work, but it likely won’t be attained in our lifetime. However I intend to do everything in my power to help pave the way for that dream to come true in the future…
Absolutely not. And if you look at how he’s handled Stevie’s estate, not a lot of material has really been released. Especially in more recent years. If he was only worried about the money, we’d have seen Legacy Edition releases of ‘Soul to Soul’ and ‘In Step’ like Jimmie did with ‘Texas Flood’ and ‘Couldn’t Stand The Weather’. To further that, Stevie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, and yet Jimmie didn’t release a single thing. The last official release was in 2014!
Jimmy taught Stevie how to play. I remember watching the Thunderbirds in Lafayette La at Grant Street Dance Hall, and Jimmy introduced his little brother. You find Jimmy playing with the best artists in the world, so he does well on his own merits.
Stevie Ray Vaughn was opening for Robert Plant in a concert in PA not long before he died and he shocked the audience about how he had given his heart to Jesus. People were pretty shocked but I was so incredibly happy that he had testified to it. It wasn't too long after that I heard about the helicopter crashing. I thought to myself, now he's one musician I'll see in heaven!! Btw, his concert was way better than Robert Plant's.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was NOT a rock & roller. His music was totally Blues from the get go & the one thing he had that few white guitarists have & that was SOUL & was loved & respected by probably every black Blues Artists! He was in a class of his own & missed by all who knew his music, myself included! ❤
It wasn't just Jimmie, Stevie's beloved mom was also part of the estate and next of kin when it came to the inheritance. I believe she passed away in 2009.

When Janna met Stevie, she acknowledged she saw the cocaine and whiskey backstage, but he continued to use substances for another 7 months until he collapsed and made the decision to stop. She enjoyed their excursions together and the lifestyle he provided, but as time passed she shifted her focus off of him and onto her career. She had been modeling in Dallas, but left to share an apartment in NY with other models, until Stevie leased one for her. “Home base” was still Dallas for Stevie, where he got his main sobriety support from daily meetings at the Aquarius Chapter of AA. Dallas Sound Lab recording studio which he frequently used, was located nearby. It’s been well-documented he was uncomfortable being alone, and in a 1990 interview in the Dallas Morning News, he stated “I’m not well”. He admitted it was a daily struggle to stay clean and an author noted he carried a high risk for relapse. More than ever he needed a companion who would be available when he needed one, but Janna made herself less available and was content leaving him to his own devices. She stated he had to learn to not use substances to numb any pain he was feeling, and that it was “Ok to sit in a funk”. However, “sitting in a funk” made him vulnerable to relapse. She acknowledged they had fights and their relationship had its’ “ups and downs”. His prior marriage legally ended in June 1988 and by her own admission, Stevie asked her “many times” to marry him. She relied heavily on his financial assistance and knew it could be terminated, if she continued to delay his proposals. After finally agreeing, she then blamed her refusal to set a wedding date on their busy schedules. But by all accounts, Stevie would have eagerly accommodated. As a courtesy, Stevie asked her father for her hand in marriage, but the real issue had been persuading Janna. He had the apartment lease prepaid through the end of 1990. Pursuant to Texas law, Martha and Jimmie inherited Stevie’s estate in equal parts. Although his family extended the lease for another year after he passed, Janna filed unsuccessful lawsuits to collect more assets from his estate. Since Stevie’s death, she has tried to take credit for his sobriety and seek acclaim for her association with him. Without a doubt, Stevie was clearly committed to her. Problem is, she was more devoted to her career than she was to him.
He's making more money now because the internet wasn't a big thing during his time. Due to youtube and such, people can hear his music and discover just how talented he was. Those are new generation people, even teenagers and 20-somethings who have discovered him. His brother Jimmie was the best person it could have gone to. I remember at least one of the ladies that Vaughan was with...he'd come home and find that she had left, taken his money/drained the account and padlocked the door. Naturally, SRV was one of the biggest names in the world, so naturally all kinds of studios and various people wanted to get their hands on his material and assets to make a profit. Since Jimmie is also a good guitarist and has played with the likes of Eric Claptop, Buddy Guy, BB King (all of which I remember played a show on stage together), it was only fitting that he inherit all of the guitars and equipment. He continues the name for his brother. That helicopter pilot wasn't rated for instrument flight rules and it was foggy, if I remember correctly. Took off and crashed into the hillside, as seen in the video. Odd that a helicopter company like that would have an actual pilot that was not IFR-rated to fly a freaking superstar away from a huge event. That shows how cheap the helicopter company was, as well. $300,000 settlement? That was nothing for their negligence.
Jimmy Vaughn is a legend in his own right. He no slouch on a guitar either. You don't gang around with the Claptons of the world if you don't have a clue! He loved his brother. Hardest thing in life is losing one you love!
Fun fact: Ned Ryerson from groundhog day movie is real name is Steve tobowowsky, and when in highschool played in a band called *Cast of Thousands was a six-piece band started by Steve Tobolowsky (later an actor), who asked Steve Ray Vaughan to join his band. They perform two tracks on this LP, with Stevie credited as “Steve Vaughan Guitar”. Also included is a rare 24" x 18" poster insert which has photos of each of the bands.*< ---- wikipedia paste. Not many people know about "cast of thousands" high five! his guitar works that age(16 I think) is unbelievable, in 1970 Stevie was in a band called Liberation, then one called Lincoln and after that he was on the cast of thousands record called "a new hi". In the same year(1970) Stevie joined. "pecos" doing Jeff Beck,Free, Eric Clapton etc. 1971 came Blackbird and Deryk Jones party and (Stevie played an Epiphone some in those days) then krackerjack with Tommy Shannon, sorry! I got carried away with Stevie history 😳 you jogged my memory
@Shable, thanks for the info, I have both biographical books about Stevie by Craig Hopkins and the first book "his early years" it goes into pretty good detail about cast of thousands including the accounting of who and when Stevie was asked to participate, band members, recording dates etc. Pretty much covers the whole story and is really good reading, I'll try to check out the podcast you mentioned

I miss you and your music and style Stevie Ray still sad that I missed that show at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. I didn't know it would be my last chance to see you perform. I did see Jimmy perform though and he's really good.
I can't believe the helicopter company paid so little. Jimmy is a good ambassador and I hope he has a clear successor for when he ultimately Joins his brother in heaven.
So sad he had to go so young. They say he wasn't even planning on flying out of the venue. His getting a seat on the helicopter was a last minute thing. Tragic!!
He had Kaal Sarp Yog and Pitra Dosh in his natal chart according to Vedic astrology. Both are known to make people have serious accidents. I've made a video explaining why it happened to SRV.
Jimmie gave the people what they wanted. I’m glad Jimmie got something out of losing his brother. I’m sure he’d rather have Stevie back than some royalties. If he wanted the money, he’d sell off number one.
Jimmy and Stevie loved each other. If there’s money to be made (which there of course is), I believe Stevie would want his brother to have it. I would! Better than a bunch of leaches that didn’t care about him!!
I always thought Jimmie should have shared some of the inheritance with Stevie’s ex wife Lenora Darlene Bailey Vaughan (Lenny). At the very least Stevie’s Lenny Guitar.
Of course he's doing it for monetary gain to I think he's doing a good job with srv legacy if I was famous and died I would want my only sibling to live a great life
His girlfriend, Janna lapidus Leblanc, tried to get SRV estate, but since they weren't married, Jimmie was granted his estate. I read, that Stevie's ex wife got the Caprice.
Stevie's mother, Martha Vaughn, blamed Janna for Stevie's death because they had quarreled over the phone prior to the concert, and Stevie took the helicopter so he could get back to her quickly.
@@cheryellemley-mcroy6758I was going to comment a few things about her but I decided to not even get started on that teen golddigger. @@cheryellemley-mcroy6758A 20yo gold digger. She played on Stevie’s vulnerability and generous heart. Complained about what Lenny received in the divorce. It’s none of her damn business. Lenny supported Stevie financially and emotionally while he struggled. The fact that Janna tried to sue Stevie’s two favorite people in his world, Jimmie and his mom, to try and get money out of his estate is appalling. The gravy train ended. I thought she was supposed to be some great fashion model yet she had no money to support herself, hence why she was with him in the first place, and I don’t see her anywhere that matters. Why do you think Jimmie and Martha had nothing to do with her after Stevie died? This was even before she tried unsuccessfully to sue them. Jimmie is a smart guy. He knew she was taking advantage of his brother. She wouldn’t have given Steven’s the time of day if he didn’t have fame and money. I think she was a manipulator and played on Steven’s vulnerabilities to get what she wanted out of him. She saw gold and she played it to the max. She was probably giving him a hard time before the show. Why else would he not call her from there? He tells his bandmates “I got to go”. I think she played head games with him.
@@cheryellemley-mcroy6758 I live hr away from Dallas, Tx. A LOT of us have discussed this. Stevie was in a BIG hurry to get back to call her & was rattled B4 getting on chopper. We think she was on his case which caused the urgency. Only 3 know for sure. GOD, her & Stevie.
I read that he was worth about 8 Millon and that Tommy Shannon and Reese wyanans and the drummer can't think of his name were all taken care of money wise.
How could people say Jimmy Vaughan did this for monetary gain, he expanded his brothers legacy, what people want in the world for most is to be remembered, this is a great way to remember SRV, monetary gain is just a side note, SRV would have done the same thing for Jimmy and its what he probably wanted for himself.
Jimmy got EVERYTHING. Period. Jimmy was his ONLY next of kin. SRV had about $250,000 in few different banks and he had just bought a nice little house in Dallas. As a matter of fact, the furniture had just been delivered and was all still in it's box. But what Jimmy TRULY got was Stevie's publishing rights to ALL of his music. I don't even think SRV had a will!
That estate amount sounds like BS, he became a household name (as we say in Australia), his death was reported on every evening news on every channel that day, that sort of fame and renown earns that amount from a month of gigs let alone record sales... On another note, he was so full of love, and it shone through his playing, the world was a much better place back then, especially with him in it...
If my brother managed my estate after i passed. I would love that he kept me relevant and put out my music. If he were to make lots of money from it Great because he is doing the work...
Yeah, nothing wrong with making money from posthumously released recordings of his brothers music. I'm sure a big percentage is making its way to the record moguls and corps. Besides, his music NEEDS to be heard. Jimmy isn't "taking advantage" of this situation for malevolent purposes.
This whole video cap 🧢 on mothers, Stevie wasn't ROCK his nickname is "The Texas Bluesman" for a reason , he played str8 Blues, at times alongside other blues Greats too BB king , Alfred King , Johnny Copeland , Buddy Guy All blues players bruv... Second off, him tryna throw shade on Jimmy some bullshit , Stevie VERBALLY credited his entire career to his older brother as his main influence Just check out Stevie story them brothers seemed solid with eachother
wow.... yes, i cried when Jimi, Jeff Beck and Gary Rossington died (65 6'3" 240 and pissed all the time). When i got the SF Chron with the news of SRV's passing, i went violent...newspaper in shreds....knew about his story and had In Step and more. Crying shame.
Why would you categorize him as a "rock" musician when he dedicated his life to playing The Blues. At most Rock would account for 15% of his life's work. The Blues short-changed again.
My dad got me into him when I was 9 years old pride and joy, cold shot, live version of little wing I always thought svr was a southern version of Hendrix
I dont think Stevie would have a problem with what Jimmie has done. He has to make some money just to be able to protect the rights to all of Stevie's music from the real vultures.,
Stevie Rey vaughn was not a rock musician! He was a Blues musician, which is why he wasn’t mainstream for much of his career. Eventually his supreme talent shown through. Blues wasn’t in style during that era.
I believe it P is for releasing new music that he made before he died he'd taken an advantage of his brother To me hes making his and brother live on That's more important than mommy
i don't blame him one bit - Better Jim get the $$ than a future ex wife ( as in the case of Ronnie Van Zant - allegedly ) and or the record co excecs as in the case of Jim Croce and Jimi Hendrix - Also - many may not realize these compilation records w/ various artists on them are considered "promotional" - therefore the record co gets 100% of the revenue -
What is your favorite album by Stevie Ray Vaughan?
Texas Flood
All of them.
Wall of Denial is my favourite but I truly love them all.
Texas Flood!❤🎸
you would not know that yourself, calling it rock. wtf.
There is no one better to handle SRV's estate and manage his legacy than Jimmy Vaughan.

Jimmie Had & Still HAS NO Trouble Making His OWN Money....He Was Not Taking Advantage Of Stevie & He Never Would Have!

You are correct, sir.
His brother wanted to keep his brothers music alive and if he makes money off of it that’s ok. Don’t be so critical people.
I agree with you I’m sure he is his closest relative. Stevie was divorced and had no heir. So Jimmy is his closest next of kin.
Totally agree. He's keeping his brother's memory, music and legacy alive. I have no problem with him making money doing it.
We all know that but here is what you dont know. The worst day Stevie ever had in his life was letting John hammond sign him. I know this from my fathers expeironce wirth him back in the late 50s. I am just happy he divorced his wife before he passed. She was taking most of what he had and he didnt even know it.
Elvis' estate is worth more now than when he was alive...
@@cheesetoast8312 What wasJohn Hammond accused of doing?

Always loved Stevie, he was extremely special and continues to change peoples lives for the better. Fantastic !
@cuda426hemi I have alot of stubs that I made a large peace symbol of and framed it, I agree with you on JOBO(no hate) and as for Jeff Beck you're correct again, his ability to morph styles is incredible, Tal Wilkenfeld is one of my favorite bass players ever! lately I've been listening to Eric Gales and Roy Buchanan as well as Edgar Winters newest record "Brother Johnny" which is a great record, Jimmie Vaughans LP "Baby please come home" gets played regularly too but I still listen to Stevie with awe, watching the El Mocombo show occasionally, I sure miss him
I think Stevie Ray was considered more of a blues musician than a rock musician.
He was a most excellent bluesman, but "If the House is Rockin' Don't Bother Knockin'!!"

Well this video was missing the fact SRVs mom passed it off to Jim. She became older and could not keep up with it. That is how he really got it.
SRV AND JIMMIE VAUGHAN ARE BOTH MUSIC LEGENDS .
Jimmie,
Is the proper steward of his brother Stevie’s estate and legacy. Despite their hard times they had love and respect for each other. Jimmie has matured a lot in the years following Stevie’s death and the loneliness he feels with all his family gone has got to be heartbreaking.
“The world lost Stevie, I lost my brother.” JImmie Vaughan.
I understand the lose. It’s hard losing your brother or sister. I only had my parents and my brother. And he passed early last year. So I know that empty place in your soul.
@@danielcombs3207 - So sorry for your loss.

Jimmy deserves everything that comes his way, and Stevie would want it that way.
Jimmy and Stevie were true brothers, that love was abundantly clear - how dare anyone question this arrangement or Jimmy's releasing of the music????
If anyone wishes to see a true legend performing a blistering style of blues, watch his performance at El Macambo. I've been playing guitar for over 45 years and consider myself quite accomplished. After watching Live at El Macambo years ago, I literally did not play for weeks. I was completely floored and humbled at the same time. I once read that on the night of the tragedy, Eric Clapton was to follow Stevie. Eric said that he literally forced himself to leave or else he would not have been able to play on the same stage. I fully understand Eric's state of mind. Truly an unbelievable talent and human being.
At least SRV's money and possessions went to family and not the state.
The state shouldn’t get shit!! It should automatically go to Children’s hospitals and wounded warriors.
Like Duane Allman, didn't live long enough to totally back up that statement, but he was among the best for sure.
Sorry, he had Kaal Sarp Yog and Pitra Dosh. Both are known to make people have serious accidents.
Real blues fan know jimmy vaughan can make his own money

SRVs mom passed in 2020 prior she gave the estate to Jim because she could no longer keep up. Now Jim is controlling it and doing a great job. Jim has a son who is playing and he sounds pretty good. They both lived in my neighborhood which believe it or not is the same hood T Bone walke was born in. The Vaughns grew up in a old black section of town but were cool enough to be kept safe.
Is there something wrong, with Jimmy wanting to make money for himself? Even, in a time of great heartache, and loss?
Absolutely not. And if you look at how he’s handled Stevie’s estate, not a lot of material has really been released. Especially in more recent years. If he was only worried about the money, we’d have seen Legacy Edition releases of ‘Soul to Soul’ and ‘In Step’ like Jimmie did with ‘Texas Flood’ and ‘Couldn’t Stand The Weather’. SRV is not a "Rock Legend" he is a Blues Legend.
There are so many SRV bootlegs out there. I wish Jimmy would clean them up and release them.

I have the great pleasure of meeting Jimmy in Santa Cruz in 2012 I believe at a gig that he played and had Luann Barton sit in with him. After the show he did a meet and greet. I gave him a diecast 1957 Thunderbird model. And he looked up at me and said, I'll cherish this! You could sure tell that the brother Apple did not fall far from the tree :-) I'm glad you have the great pleasure of knowing the Vaughn family. Well God bless and please take care.

@@JeanVaughan-Staley This Breaks My Heart ...People In Recovery Need SO Much Support & Understanding - Not People Who Tell Them To Just "Get Over It!".... Rest In Peace, Stevie! This information is wonderful😃😃
Elvis, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Tupac and biggie. Everyone makes more money after they die.
For their familys
This was a somewhat happy result unlike Jimmy Hendrix The person that ended up with his estate was someone I heard couldn’t stand Jimmy 😢
Frist off Stevie Ray Vaughan was a Blues, BLUES musician OK! He single - handedly saved the blues.
What if Jimmie Vaughan is taking advantage of the artistic output of his deceased Brother???? Hard to take advantage of a dead Man! Go Jimmie Go!!!!! Keep Stevie's memory alive, and well!!
Jimmie Never Did - & Never Would Have Taken Advantage Of Stevie - He Cared Deeply About His Legacy & Body Of Work Being Heard!
I miss you and your music and style Stevie Ray still sad that I missed that show at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. I didn't know it would be my last chance to see you perform.
I did see Jimmy perform though and he's really good.
He's not a rock musician, he's a blues musician and he reshaped the blues.
I can't believe the helicopter company paid so little. Jimmy is a good ambassador and I hope he has a clear successor for when he ultimately Joins his brother in heaven.
I was very lucky to have seen him play four times here in Auckland, New Zealand.
Much love to you Jimmie. I remember watching you & the Tbirds in Corpus Christi in the 80's.
Jimmie is the right man to run Stevie's estate. No questions.
Jimmy deserves it …..he loved Stevie ❤
StingRay was the best to ever do the damn thang 🤘
STEVIE = AWESOME
Jimmy and Stevie loved each other. If there’s money to be made (which there of course is), I believe Stevie would want his brother to have it. I would! Better than a bunch of leaches that didn’t care about him!!
I was at Alpine Valley that night.
I always thought Jimmie should have shared some of the inheritance with Stevie’s ex wife Lenora Darlene Bailey Vaughan (Lenny). At the very least Stevie’s Lenny Guitar.
Didn't she get something in the divorce settlement?
The loss of a brother would be foremost on Jimmy's mind. He's just making sure Stevies legacy lives on. The sky was crying when he left us.
Rip SRV. 'Tin Pan Alley' may be my favourite ever song.
Man can’t even enjoy his big night with the greats without her whining and manipulating. She used that man’s vulnerability, kind heart and bank account. Why she thought she was entitled to his estate is astounding. The audacity. 🖕🏻 her
@@cheryellemley-mcroy6758A 20yo gold digger.
@skel760 Martha and I were next-door neighbors and close friends after she moved to Duncanville.
How did you know her?
@@cheryellemley-mcroy6758 I live hr away from Dallas, Tx. A LOT of us have discussed this. Stevie was in a BIG hurry to get back to call her & was rattled B4 getting on chopper. We think she was on his case which caused the urgency. Only 3 know for sure. GOD, her & Stevie.
I read that he was worth about 8 Millon and that Tommy Shannon and Reese wyanans and the drummer can't think of his name were all taken care of money wise.
Jimmie just gave to us, SRV's fans, what we wanted.
What a fkn legacy !
Long live the one and only G.O.A.T. TLC
If my brother managed my estate after i passed. I would love that he kept me relevant and put out my music. If he were to make lots of money from it Great because he is doing the work...
Stevie had bass frets installed on his Strats.
No buddy better to handle his brother then Jimmie
If Jimmy Vaughn wants to make money on Stevie's name than God bless him.
Is Jimmy trying to make money ... hell yes !!! Dosen't mean he doesn't love and miss his brother! RIP SRV 🙏
I inherited his leftover cocaine collection but I blew it all.
The narrator keeps referring to Vaughn as a rock musician. Vaughn self described himself as a blues musician. Period.
Yeah, nothing wrong with making money from posthumously released recordings of his brothers music. I'm sure a big percentage is making its way to the record moguls and corps. Besides, his music NEEDS to be heard. Jimmy isn't "taking advantage" of this situation for malevolent purposes.
This whole video cap 🧢 on mothers, Stevie wasn't ROCK his nickname is "The Texas Bluesman" for a reason , he played str8 Blues, at times alongside other blues Greats too BB king , Alfred King , Johnny Copeland , Buddy Guy
All blues players bruv...
Second off, him tryna throw shade on Jimmy some bullshit , Stevie VERBALLY credited his entire career to his older brother as his main influence
Just check out Stevie story them brothers seemed solid with eachother
Taking advantage of his brother’s estate would be looting and squandering all assets. That’s not what he did.
Steamy Ray Von
wow....
yes, i cried when Jimi, Jeff Beck and Gary Rossington died (65 6'3" 240 and pissed all the time).
When i got the SF Chron with the news of SRV's passing, i went violent...newspaper in shreds....knew about his story and had In Step and more.
Crying shame.
Jimmie has nothing but the best intentions in honouring his brother…guaranteed
Blues rock not rock. He ended up more successful and rich after his death like lots of musicians, artists etc.
Rumoured to be in the ‘gone with the wind’ program like Elvis.
stolen money?
Why would you categorize him as a "rock" musician when he dedicated his life to playing The Blues. At most Rock would account for 15% of his life's work. The Blues short-changed again.
My dad got me into him when I was 9 years old pride and joy, cold shot, live version of little wing I always thought svr was a southern version of Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughan loved his momma, Jimmie and Janna
همیشه به یادت خواهیم بود ، استیوی ❤
I dont think Stevie would have a problem with what Jimmie has done. He has to make some money just to be able to protect the rights to all of Stevie's music from the real vultures.,
Dude .... If Stevie heard you call him a rock musician he'd be absolutely insulted ... period . He was a blues man . Big difference . Just saying .
Stevie Rey vaughn was not a rock musician! He was a Blues musician, which is why he wasn’t mainstream for much of his career. Eventually his supreme talent shown through. Blues wasn’t in style during that era.
I believe it P is for releasing new music that he made before he died he'd taken an advantage of his brother To me hes making his and brother live on That's more important than mommy
i don't blame him one bit - Better Jim get the $$ than a future ex wife ( as in the case of Ronnie Van Zant - allegedly ) and or the record co excecs as in the case of Jim Croce and Jimi Hendrix -
Also - many may not realize these compilation records w/
various artists on them are considered "promotional" - therefore the record co gets 100% of the revenue -
I'm sure that Stevie would want everything to go to his brother. They had a very close relationship.
