    This video is spot on.
    Preventive maintenance and regular service (oil changes) on the motor between 10,000 and say 18,000 miles, depending on conditions, usage and age of the motor. Also, proper and regular diagnostic checkup to see the health of the DPF/DOC/SCR system.
    You can go to eBay and purchase the Cummins Inline 6 reader and Insite software to make these diagnostics a breeze.
    Then the EGR Cooler, it would be best to replace at say 500,000 miles, or at least remove, inspect and clean, before it leaks and takes out your DPF/DOC filters.
    Also, regular EGR Tuneups, clean out the soot in the intake/exhaust side with carb cleaner, and replace the intake manifold pressure sensor along with the exhaust back pressure sensor and any other emission related sensors.
    If a newer Cummins, CM-2250 and newer, the fuel pumps need to be inspected and normally rebuilt every 400,000 miles, as they are still grenading, even in the newest ISX motors.
    Main thing, learn your motor, buy some tools, and get the diagnostic tools so that you can evaluate on the fly. If you think a dealer will maintain your truck for you, break out your wallet, and have a bankruptcy attorney on speed dial. You are the warranty station and mechanic if you want to survive out here.
