My favorite pond has grass in 90% of it. You nailed everything I throw except my most effective bait. That for me is a fluke with a 5/0, 1/16 ounce belly weighted Gamakatsu. It works great on top of the mats as well as swims. On the fall when you get a hole, pause and the tail action is a killer. Great video.
I have been so frustrated this summer! idk if its because we had such a mild winter but my favorite spots have become unfishable! Its nothing but thick weeds. Even a weightless senko gets caught. Only thing you could fish it with is a frog. Idk what to do.
Right on, Tyler. I guide on a flooded forest lake. So much timber, it's almost overwhelming. I've gotten to the point where I don't even see the forest for the trees, so to speak. I focus on roadbeds, creek channels, and certain points. Throwing jerkbaits and cranks ONLY where I know I can get away with it. Otherwise, staying weedless is important. Keep doing what you're doing, TB! Nice apparel, BTW! Your hats and sun shirts are good quality. Going to buy your package deal after I hit "send". 👍👍
Our little ponds here are just choke in lilly pads and grass along banks. I dont boat fish, I bank fish. When I first walk up to my choice of fishing spot, 1st thing I do is stop and listen. If I can hear bait fish and panfish smackin the bottoms of lillys, I wait a little longer. Maybe up to 5 minutes. In one pond i go to is just horrendous, but man o man, the bass are huge for its size. If i hear bass in the tall grass, i willl texas rig a creature and a 1/2 oz bullet sinker and cast right into them. Not a clue wear it lands, hopefully water. Like this morning I pulled a couple through the tall grass, pitched and castted into the mits of it. It is amazing and fun to do this.
I want this video!!!! The dams i fish in my home province in South Africa is GRASS GRASS GRASS!! We fish mainly weightless texas rigged soft plastics or top water baits (when possible). Thanks for the advice here Tyler.
I was completely overwhelmed by the grass on Guntersville when I fished it first. I plan to make the trip again at some point.
Thank you for covering topics that wilkíyactually matter to advanced angler’s!
That’s every lake around me, almost year round, in Central Florida lol
How do you fish when you arrive to a body of water full of hipsters lol? My spot has been infiltrated!! Seriously though, thank you for the video!
Vote for Trump 2024, it will fix it
@mattcampbell3876 I stop fishing and start hunting 🤷♂️
I hunt for the specific spots that produce more. Sometimes better than others'-
Fertilizer runoff is the main cause for the thick grass matts in ponds- at least by me.
It’s all caused by Canada geese around me, but same result.
By me , I have big bass lake in Massachusetts that is maybe 200 ft wide and shaped like a channel . 12 -14 ft tops bought livescope figured I'd see the big ones schooling together but nope there in the weeds hiding totally unexpected because the water is hot figured they would be deep chilling
