oof. Aluminum welding needs 2 things to work well, clean material and spray transferring of material. 1. Brush the oxide layer off the metal (Brush with a SS brush that has never touched rust or any other metal, sharpie "ALUMINUM ONLY" on it) 2. Clean it with Isopropyl alcohol 3. Your weld should sound like a hiss, no spurts or sputters, you may need to adjust distance and/or feed speed. Ideally it'll look like there's a cone of plasma that jumps from the work to the aluminum wire, if that cone touches the tip, it'll jam, if it's too far away, it'll sputter. Good aluminum welding produces almost no spatter. Remember to push into the weld, don't draw away from it like stick welding. Hope that helps :)
Sounds like you are referring more to a dual shielded process. To me, I think your travel angle needs to be improved/flipped around. Pull the bead rather than push it. And why the hell are you welding on a wood table???
This spoolgun is the shit did a big job with it and it worked awesome. Had bought the Lincoln 210mp and man that thing goes. Used it on 110v and 220v worked good , but will be a beast on 220v.
You said the Argon was adjusted to 35 psi. I think you meant 35 CFH (CUBIC FEET PER HOUR). I was hoping it would work on my Lincoln 100 weld pak. I need to download that owners manual. Thanks for posting
Question ❓ I would like to know if you have ever welded steel with your spool gun Or will the spool gun handle such a task as welding steel with either flux core or gas wire Thank you in advance
Jake just sounds like he can git er done, know what I'm sayin', he's the type of dude who's place I want my rig to break down in front - ha ha, good ol' honest video no B.S. thank you sir
You shouldn't have too. Recheck the wiring, and some models require to wire in a switch. Some models already have it. Make sure it is switched to spool gun.
Feed the wire thru first with the trigger and then put spool in slot worked way better. If it kinks reverse the wire spool and then remove the tip amd feed the wire and cut-off the kinked wire and put the tip back on.
Loved the video the reason I bought one however I have found that the gun is seriously a hunk of shit if you have spent any real time using it and I’m sure you have by now you know what I’m saying. Regardless was a great video and got me going quickly when I got mine.
Or, you didn’t follow the instructions, and the roller adjustment has the rollers too far apart. Most likely the reason. Or, you didn’t put the wire in properly.
I wouldn't ever buy another Lincoln welder again over priced junk they are living off the name with poor quality gear now they went from one of the best to over priced crap Miller has Lincoln destroyed as far as quality and dependability!!!
Pal you obviously don't have a clue about mugging aluminum should be 0 spatter fucking 0 so.... It doesn't work worth a shot on a 180 welder doesn't put out enough amperage or voltage rather
only you the indidvidual knows if this is the machine you need and looking for it all depends what you want to do it witih it, my self all i need is a regular mig welder to do auto body work, so i won't even bother viewing this video good luck you all.

Unless you’re using high power for your welds, you are not going to be in spray transfer. You’ll be in short arc mode.
Aluminum oxidizes instantly, you cant brush it off. But yes it needs to be free of other contamination.
Quick tip. When adding new wire to a spool gun or the machine, always remove the tip off of the gun and make sure gas is turned off.
Thanks for the video.
I’m seeing this video 4 years later. How’s the spool gun working for you these days?
This spoolgun is the shit did a big job with it and it worked awesome. Had bought the Lincoln 210mp and man that thing goes. Used it on 110v and 220v worked good , but will be a beast on 220v.
average Joe giving clear explanations folks can understand. thanks
Helps if you straighten about a foot length of wire before sticking the wire into the feed roller

Nice work Thank you Sir. I have a 180 hd weld pack the 100sg will not fit my p6 more homework
Now that you have the "Gun Spooled" it's time to refill the Argon bottle.
You are running to cold turn up the volts
Is this welder 180?
someone was watching Ave./Boltr
The mp210 welds ok ..but you can only use the 100 spool gun
My spool gun is either all or nothing lol. I love it, but can’t weld thin aluminum because it either puts out too much heat or none at all
What size tanks are those???
80 cu ft tanks I believe.
Nice video , very helpful , I have already ordered blades for my sawz all just to open the box ! Thanks
Is there any other way to open boxes?!
Hehe 😜 nice observation
Mine didn’t activate at all I have a 140 hd but I don’t know if I have to put the argon first
You shouldn't have too. Recheck the wiring, and some models require to wire in a switch. Some models already have it. Make sure it is switched to spool gun.
Theres a switch inside the machine where you can switch to spool gun mode.
Use spring only on 5356 wire ..spring not needed on 4043
Feed the wire thru first with the trigger and then put spool in slot worked way better. If it kinks reverse the wire spool and then remove the tip amd feed the wire and cut-off the kinked wire and put the tip back on.
r u still have the spool gun switch ?
Yes
Haha I’m working on a 1968 C10 as well. Fixing all the rust so I’m watching a ton of welding videos.
Does This work on a mig 265? Help me please
Does this work with power mig 210 mp?
I believe so, but can not for 100% for sure.
I believe so, but can not say 100% sure.
100% does
Thank you sir
@@jakesspeedshop You’re welcome 👍
Solid good info
AVE unboxing.
Hello the same spool gun on ebay uk £55 not 200 dollar's
No it doesn’t
Um-no.
Great video! Gratitude.
Add more heat
Thank you, very informative.
Had to have two of these, absolutely not recommend. Lincoln should not put their name on this!
That's very unfortunate. I've never had an issue with mine.
Remove the tip
But just the tip ...

The hose comming out of gun will kink and you will lose the gas ..very bad design
THUMBS(ED) DOWN @ "WHOOO"
🖕
30 PSI Argon...............@#$%^&$
the truth is very bad! it is useless I bought it, it never works well, the rollers are not used to run the wire.
You might have a defective unit. Ive never had an issue with mine.
Or, you didn’t follow the instructions, and the roller adjustment has the rollers too far apart. Most likely the reason. Or, you didn’t put the wire in properly.
This spool gun is junk ..cant believe lincoln made a gun like this
I wouldn't ever buy another Lincoln welder again over priced junk they are living off the name with poor quality gear now they went from one of the best to over priced crap Miller has Lincoln destroyed as far as quality and dependability!!!

Thanks for the useless comment my man.
Lmao
I don't understand why aluminum has to be fed from a spool gun instead of from the welder like a steel wire spool.
maybe it doesn't have the same compression strength as steel and would bind up in the hose over that length
