60 years old and first heard Wolf Totem this summer when my daughter came in and said "Dad, you've got to listen to this!" and pointed me to their music on youtube. Never looked back.
I got turned onto them by a guy my age and his wife (both around 60). Now I scare the 20 year olds at work playing it. LMAO. And they think their rappers are badass....none of them would stand a chance against these guys.
OMG the HU!! I'm so glad I discovered them at age 75, love love this music. I was into throat singing, but the HU is a world of its own. THANK YOU for the enlightenment. it will keep all us seniors off the couch.
Totally fuckin cool, authentic, primitive, natural. pulled up the flag from the crowd to represent where their from and their heritage. this is birth of the legends brothers.
Can you imagine the Mongol hoard coming outside a town and using the throat singing sound and war drums chanting before they attack? I would have scare the shite out of the villagers and made them surrender out of pure fear. It is a very primal sound.
I think they have both. There is so much gold and other treasure under the Mongolian soil, and the Mongols have so many horses that nowhere else in the world
I'm a 19 year old girl from Essex, UK most of my mates listen to the likes of stormzy and OFB I listen to this along with bands like Avatar, Jinjer and slipknot.
This performance reveals the beauty & tragedy of our modern existence! So many cultures ignored, yet appreciated without knowing the origins, the layers of emotion that goes into their musici art! LOVE LOVE & many blessings to their well being, In'sh Allah!!
I first heard the song 'Wolf Totem' . It moved something deep inside. I'm 56, I love the feeling even though I can't understand. You can feel the strength in the voice. I started ready more of about the history of your country. I want to learn the language even tho I wouldn't be able to speak it to anyone. And how dare China think to ban such a beautiful language.
That's why I learned Irish - the ancient music affected me so much I had to learn to sing it. I've been listening to ancient throat singing and horsehead fiddle for years. It was hard to find, but finally it's more mainstream!
If ever you have to go to a place or environment which doesn't convey 'pleasant' vibes, make sure you have this band's playlist on your apps or whatever; pop those earphones on, tap play and you'll no longer feel uncomfortable or unsettled. They honestly transport you somewhere else; I listen to all types of music but the HU have this gift of lifting your senses up into another frequency!
I'm a 55 year old female. If I went to one of their concerts I would have to be treated for whip lash from head banging so much and needing a morphine drip for a week from dancing. But I would have a heck of a smile on my face!!!
yes, i have now far off been the same when i seeing nickleback at the NEC in birmingham. im just glad i booked a few days off work after, but yes best thing i hae ever done, if these guys come to the uk im going! not missing it for the world its all about that smile :D
LOL ... I was at that show, just to the left of center stage. I survived and I am 57! The HU rocked the Rave. Great venue and opportunity to see the band in a tight, intimate setting ... before the damn COVID19 shutdown.
omg I hear you. 47, always loved metal, but this takes it to a new level. That thrumming chanting just does it for me. I'd probably leave in a coffin after seeing them live. Metallica was our dream come true and they were truly incredible, but we were about 15 years younger or so. At this point I think hubby and I might not survive this level of moshing.
Good record! I was right on the spot where you were...at both concert in nj and brooklyn. It brings back all the feeling and memory. My records are too short.
I'm 68 and right there with you. There's something in their music that speaks to so many people regardless of age or ancestry. Now, where are my horse and bow!
Outstanding musicians. Can't fault them. Their style, their amazing fashion, their fascinating instruments, and their unique sound. And that gorgeous hair. OMG Love them💜
J.R. Vasquez well, if you look, they don’t really have the regular instruments you’d see in heavy metal OR hard rock. They’re literally traditional Mongolian instruments turned into electrical instruments. I think there’s an argument to be made that this is a category all by itself
These guys are more interesting and more rocking and "metalic" than some of the European symphonic metal bands I have been listening to, including Nightwish, Within Temptation and Epica. Now they add throat singing to the grunts, growls, belts, screams, wails and howls in rock and all its subgenres. Mongorock is here.
It's actually called overtone singing, many cultures do it as well. Most of the viking war chants had a lot of overtone singing and so do the Gaels. It's beautiful and extremely hard to do.
@BLUE DOG I live in Houston Texas now but I am from northern California then lived in Washington State for 25 years. Panama Red was our jam or Thai sticks.
aka Enkush's solo was perfect
60 years old and first heard Wolf Totem this summer when my daughter came in and said "Dad, you've got to listen to this!" and pointed me to their music on youtube. Never looked back.
61 here and THE BEST music ever! Makes this old girl dance!🤗
makes one want to mount up and go pillage and plunder!! ROOOOOCK OOOONNNN HU
I got turned onto them by a guy my age and his wife (both around 60). Now I scare the 20 year olds at work playing it. LMAO. And they think their rappers are badass....none of them would stand a chance against these guys.

Dude has a awesome voice!!!
They are b0ss
Totally unique. I wish them gold and horses.
And women
I think they have both.
There is so much gold and other treasure under the Mongolian soil, and the Mongols have so many horses that nowhere else in the world
Well said,Conner!!!!
Well put blessings
How about golden horses?
i love THE HU they are awesome
I think I just found true love at first sight. Been listening to them for a bit. But I swear I'm in love.
Through my cheap speakers, their drums rattle my bones and ignite ....life!
Now THIS is real music!
I'm a 19 year old girl from Essex, UK most of my mates listen to the likes of stormzy and OFB I listen to this along with bands like Avatar, Jinjer and slipknot.

I love their video where they are playing in Mongolia, so impressive and the country is awe inspiring.
These guys are kicking some serious asses!!
Authentic Mongolian throat singing with a heavy metal spin... blends well
J.R. Vasquez well, if you look, they don’t really have the regular instruments you’d see in heavy metal OR hard rock. They’re literally traditional Mongolian instruments turned into electrical instruments. I think there’s an argument to be made that this is a category all by itself
