Nice. Have you considered mounting a couple of springs on the slide piece one the inside to have "automatic closing action"?

I sure did. Although I got way too carried away with trying to make a coin-operated machine that could pick out quarters before dispensing the candy. It was taking too long and my frustration got the better of me so I hurried up to get the project over with :)

Maybe a dumb question... with the hole in the top under the jar, how do you flip the loaded jar onto the top without dumping out some of the contents? I suppose you can pull the dispenser out so it blocks the bottom hole, but seems like you still have the top hole to contend with.

Hi Jeff - you need to turn the base of the machine upside down while leaving the jar right-side up.
