We love the conversation happening in the comments so far! For newer viewers, let us know what your most versatile lens is 👇
I do agree. Owning the Canon EF 24-70 F/2.8 II since release in 2012 and it’s still in my bag till today. I can use it natively on Canon DSLRs or adapted to use on my A1 if I want to. Extremely versatile lens along with the 70-200.
Love this man. I can say he guided me through the first steps in photography when I was learning 12-13 years ago.
16-35mm & 24-105mm are very useful.
28mm primes are my fav
24-120mm f/4. I don't mind the slightly less blurry background (you can compensate with a longer focal length in the 24-120 if you have the room) and don't mind the higher ISO in lower light, ASSUMING you can shoot your subject at the widest aperture anyway (sometimes you need f/4, f/5.6 etc for the extra depth of field). For me, the 24-120 makes the most sense. (a high quality one like the Nikon Z version).
For me, a 35-75 f/2 that's in the 900 gram region would be all that I need. 2.8 sometimes requires you to crank the iso up to values that affect noise levels and decreases the dynamic range. F/2 in the focal range would allow me to do practically everything that I need.
I appreciate the transparency about what a professional gallery can look like! I’ve always wondered if I should give a client 25 photos to look through or 75.😅 I don’t want to overwhelm them with too much but I know I’d appreciate being able to have lots of options and variety in shots, even if the only difference between 3 photos might be the angle a subject is facing or the exact expression.
Steve McCurry has used a "standard" zoom for decades. Salgado uses a 24-105 and 70-300.
The 24-70mm GM II is my most used lens. But, I wouldn't say that it's my favorite. Great shot of the bride at Half Dome.
We agree.. the 24-70 2.8 is the workhorse in 25 years of wedding photography.
Yah the 24-70 is wild. Inside the RF mount but good
The RF 24-105 2.8 has replaced the 24-70 for me.
I have a 70d and 5ds don't have the money to switch to mirrorless. Don't see the need. I may be dead wrong. But I'm 66 and shoot once or twice a year. Mostly nature and a family wedding every so often.
The most boring focal length ever.
