I've just finished the F4u-2 rom Magic Factory. It is a fantastic kit outside of two spots that had me slightly irritated. The sprue gates on the pushrods and the ignition ring are in between the push rods and ignition stubs. It is nigh impossible to remove them without destroying the details of the parts. I ended up replacing the lost details with stretched sprue. The wing fold assembly is very sturdy and well detailed. The cockpit is very nice and I don't see the need to replace it with resin or add any photo etch. The fabric ribbing on the rudder and wings could use a bit of sanding to tone it down. I read in a couple of places that some of the rivet lines are not correct. I personally don't care. Will I toss my Tamiya corsairs? Definately not. Is this better than the Tamiya corsairs? IMO yes. The cockpit shows the age of the Tamiya kit. The construction and parts breakdown is very much like the Tamiya 1/32 Corsairs. For some really great insight and tips I'd suggest looking at Tom Cleavers build review at Modelling Madness. I enjoyed this kit so much that I ordered a second.
What a fantastic comment, and thank you so much for sharing a detailed assessment of the kit. Could you possibly link the review video you mentioned, please? Your review has made me want one a lot more, especially after reading your remarks concerning photo etch and resin! Completely appreciated! Thanks again - Jim
I have not made the SeaKing model but I did spend 10 years of my career in the fleet air arm maintaining them. Especially number 23 which was an absolute cow sometimes. My weather vane is also of number 23. Good old days.
Well I’m pretty envious of that- who doesn’t love a SeaKing? If I make one I’ll film it and do number 23 on the strength of this conversation. I haven’t bought one and I have a lot in the stash but there’s no denying the beauty of the kit 👍
I do have the Fairey but not got around to it. The he 111 is so incredibly tempting but the size I’ll have to give serious consideration as to where it goes. It won’t be a cheap model and deserves a pride of place - thanks for commenting helps massively 👍
Thanks for this rundown of what to look forward to. 1/48 is the sweet spot for me as an aeroplanes nut focused on specific history (in my case SEAC/CBI since I'm from there) , taking cost, space, time into consideration. I'm drawn to dioramas and wish more manufactures would focus on 1/48 with a wide range of historical subjects. Kudos, for example, to Tamiya who have produced tanks, artillery, support vehicles, figures, aircraft and more in this scale. Nothing against larger or smaller scales as its fantastic to have so many options. I just don't have the time, space and resources to go nuts. 😊.
Hi There! Thank you for feeding back and such an interesting comment as well. Yes I've started heading towards the diorama path as well as they just set the model off in a better context. You've mastered the art of restraint by the sound of it well done
That $60 price for the Airfix B-24 is intriguing, considering my Eduard (Hasagawa) B-24'S were $110 each. Will be interesting to see the detail comparisons. The Hobby Boss B-24'S in 48th will probably get a few purchases for the stash, my preferred scale and quality of detail known so far. 1 pre-ordered and due anytime now ™
I haven't built the Academy A-10C in my stash as yet but I'm keen to see GWH's, long awaited A-10C, Just wish it was an 'A'. BRRRRRT!! ............................💥
Yes you say it ! Your model wishes are exactly mine too, especially the Do - 217 ! I got the Fw 190 A-6 from Border Models just a few weeks ago and I'm totally impressed of that magnificent model, especially the detailing of the motor, which needs no additional detail sets, it is breathtaking !
That says so much about the kit. I have three Tamiya unbuilt not sure if I should move them on and buy the MF instead or just blitz the Tamiya but them I’d probably have had enough of the Corsair - certainly a 1st world problem. Thanks for feeding this back it’s much apt👍
@@TheScaleModeler there's nothing wrong with the Tamiya kits, but the MF kit is basically a scaled down 1/32 tamiya corsair, and it definitely makes the 1/48 show it's age
Can't wait to get that He 111 from Border Models ! A really fantastic looking kit with some extreme detailing ! Hope it will appear soon ! - The rest of the shown models is "always the same old shit" in different variations. But nevertheless the Airfix kits seem to be interesting, for instance that very good looking Life Boat !
I'm with you on that one. Yes, a lot of Airfix at the moment, probably because they've just announced their new range prior to me putting the video together. Hopefully, things will change in a month or so. Some people, it appears, don't seem to get what trending means.

Anxious to try the He 111 at 1/35, B-24 and the Fairey Banner looks like a magnificent challenge.

@@wernerrunkel5378 yes , i also had Border 1/35 Fw-190A , the detail is trully amazing
Does the RNLI lifeboat come with a dinghy for an authentic diorama?
I don’t think so- I’ve just checked their website and FB page and there is no indication of one
Currently building my 2nd magic factory corsair and theyre hands down the best in 1/48

Kotare should make the Bf-109K in 1/35 scale , Hasegawa and Trumpeter had Made it in 1/32
Very good point- yes give us something we haven’t got 👍
Where's the Link to your referenced channel ...
If you mean beyond the sprue with regular updates it is this channel ie the scale modeler
I am still holding off from going to the bathroom until the 1:1 Westland Whirlwind gets released with 20mm cannon ammo.
😂 That’s a lot of information to take in 👍
Cool models.
Thank you goforitpainting 😃👍

It changes all the time - it’s what’s trending
There’s two actually
Still nothing to get excited about
Thanks for sharing 👍
