  • @bobstewart5262

Plaintiff drove 2 hours to get the boat worked on because all the local mechanics didn't want to mess with it, not just because they're too busy. The defendant should've refused the job regarding the transom issue alone! I think the mechanic was sloppy because he didn't pop off the fuel line 1st to see if the fuel tank was contaminated, which most likely was. That would explain the dirt, thus wiping out any benefit of rebuilding the carb. The spark plug spit out because it was cross-threaded when it was installed. The cylinder threads are aluminum and very delicate.
What the defendant should've done was pull the engine off the boat, done all the mechanical work, and run the engine in front of the plaintiff from a repair stand. If all went well, reinstall the engine on the transom, collect the money and send the plaintiff on his way. As I said, the defendant's mechanic was very sloppy!

Glad the plaintiff won, that repair guy, like many, didn't do the work he claimed was done (obviously) and like many just blows you off when you call them on it.
ALWAYS get your used parts back, every nut and bolt, even if you're going to toss them in the trash.
I had an auto mechanic replace value cover gasket bolts with sheet metal screws when I took a car in for a valve job that I was charge $2800 for and then tell me to my face that those were the "bolts" that were in it when I brought it in - a flat out lie, but there was nothing I could do and it cost another $285 to have another mechanic put in the correct automotive bolts
If I weren't the type to lift my hood and give a look over of everything that was supposed to be done before leaving a shop, as well as get used parts back, I would have never noticed it until a valve cover blew off and blew my engine.
I hate to say it, but mechanics, generally speaking, are the LEAST trustworthy "professionals" we have to deal with.

Sadly bad mechanics are a dime a dozen! I was with my mechanic for my car for over 20 years since my first car I saved up for at 17 then 3 cars later I stayed with him until retirement! Then got a new car… boat wise I was fortunate two of my brothers were boatmen, both worked at wellcraft for a number of years after their service in the military. But between the both of them, my yuppie husband and my handy-dandy step-dad I was covered… either learned or had their help! But in this case, when the repair fella refused to allow the customer the old parts is a red flag, not to mention not standing behind his work … lesson learned for other boating Floridians. Glad the plaintiff was compensated because not everyone is blessed as I have been, having trusted family who know the ins and outs and can offer a helping hand, or eye… or advice. The reason these trades have businesses is because there are novices and no one needs to be a mechanic to drive or boat, valuable service but doesn’t give one the right to rip the other off!

The only ones not busy during a busy season? And on top of that it's weird that he had him sign a waiver that said the boat was not safe and didn't connect the motor lines. Also I feel like he should've gotten endangerment cause he had a responsibility as a mechanic to let him know that those things were a hazard

The boat repair shops nearby did the right thing by refusing to work on that old boat, because they know there would be problems. The defendant felt the same way, but worked on it anyway to be nice, and because the fella came 2 hours. Now all the problems occurring he’s being sued.
Not giving back the old parts sounds fishy. It’s possible they may be core like autos . $2500 repair job sounds like a lot if you look at the cost of auto repairs.

@@derinaries I see that too. She is definitely not doing well. She can’t handle a case on her own. Now she has 2 assistants. I can’t wait for her to be taken off air.

I love Judge Judy! Her new show is just that... a new show. It's meant to be more modern, more thorough, similar to being in actual court. 🤷🏼‍♀️ She can hear a lie, see it in your eyes and hear it in your voice. As an experienced mom myself, I have developed these abilities along the way and have more respect for those who don't tolerate lies either. 😄

to do with being a parent. I don't have any kids but have great powers of discernment and common sense.

There is a common saying in legal circles: "A judge isn't a judge because they're always right, a judge is always right because they're a judge".
Judge Judy makes a mockery of her "legal proceedings" by berating people because she can. She is downright NASTY, disregards litigants statements (if she lets them speak at all) and takes pride and self-satisfaction in belittling litigants when they even stand in a manner that doesn't suit "her highness". She is a bully who hides behind her "authority" as a TV judge.
She may provide entertainment for the room temperature IQ crowd, but she is anything but a representative of an actual, legal judge. Judge Judy is a sham.

Outrageous decision. All based on the testimony of an anonymous Marco, provided no receipt for the repairs Marco allegedly made, provided no proof that Marco is authorized to work on motors. Very shady all around. I believe Millian is prejudiced in favor of any case involving a Latino, whether it's a witness, plaintiff or defendant. She's always playing the Latino stuff hard in all circumstances. She's a disgrace.
