- The South Coast, Where the weather effects every living thing.
Hey everyone, this episode we are at a new spot called Haldane, freedom camping at Weirs beach, which is only several kms drive to Slope point, the most southern point of mainland New Zealand.
Luckily for us we had some good weather for down these ways, enjoying some sunshine and light winds, the Haldane camp is pretty sheltered from the Dominant, south westerly winds.
This area it's worth looking at the trees, and soaking up the vast, empty spaces, which speaks of a wild area, that not to many people can live in, it gets wild.
But we explore, the local beach and rocks. Visit, the Waipapa Light house, a trip to Porpoise bay, and to the living forest.
We hope you enjoy this adventure in the deep deep South.

Thanks Leopards for your great videos of your travels. Brings back many memories when my wife and I travelled all over NZ in our 6 metre motor home, yes even stood on the petrified wood at Curio Bay and many other great spots experienced by you guys . I always felt those were the greatest years of our lives even in our 70’s but unfortunately my wife died in 2016 but I still reminisce of those great days. Your travels have brought back so many memories,Well done, Barry Roach
Awwww what a lovely comment. We live in such a unique country aye. I'm sure you carry some incredible memories with you.
Waipapa Lighthouse a magic spot. My daughter and I did a motorbike around the lower South Island she loved Waipapa Lighthouse. We were ther late afternoon early evening as the sun set over the sea - magic.
Great video again guys, watching it in our caravan. Looking forward to the next one . Cheers

I so envy you all travelling around. Due to damaged vertebrae and nerves I can't go too far. We do go to a brighton beach but that's it for now. Have had one surgery and might soon have another

@GeekFreak-vv1vb the audio is well adjusted from our end.
Tent camped there a few times now, always happy to get the spot you got for shelter and not to be crowded. Fortunate with your timing as it gets extremely busy over Christmas and New Year.
Yea i imagine, there was a guy setting up for Christmas even brought his lawn mower out, and left his caravan
Hi Leopards. Yet another great episode. Pretty rugged country down south eh.?
Thanks again for sharing. Awesome footage. Thanks.

Great Video to the Leopards!! I've only driven that road once, and I drove from Cromwell to Invercargill in one day! which included a walk into a waterfall, Thanks for sharing
@tonymckeage1028 thanks mate, hearty part of NZ, not really worth stopping when the winds blowing or it's raining, incredible and remote when the suns out
So amassing down there, the weather can certainly make it or break it. We were down there a couple of years ago and the weather was on our side. Your video brings back good memories of the area.
@allantaylor3288 thanks mate, like most remote places in NZ aye, the weather makes all the difference... I like it down here, but too many bad days definitely does my head in
@ 😂
We love Papatowai, our favourite .... well second favourite, Mavora is stunning and hard to beat. We were camping on the same site you were from boxing day till 28th, good spot near the amenities. 😊. We watched your video at Kaitangata and are now planning to head there to camp and for an ice cream and fish'n'chips at the end of the month! Great content, guys, love watching you travel around our local area of NZ.
Oh yeah Papatowai is a pretty special place! As is Mavora... stunning places around our country aye. Enjoy some cheap goodies at Kaitangata
What a stunning area. We were lucky there with the weather but I can totally see how things can go bad pretty quick…
Yeah man, you're right, the weather can go sideways real quick, but when it's settled it's so so lovely
I thought I drove past you on my way back from Purakaunui to Dunedin.. Must have been you guys seeing now where you ended up 😊
Oh cool, we were here mid December so if it was then, then yes!!!!
Great to see you back down my neck of the woods. Just remember look out for a Fonterra driver waving at you.

Bummer you missed going to Slope Point, maybe next time 🤷 Southern most point of Te Waipounamu. Incredible views of Antarctica 🤩
It’s pretty breezy down there, so many people have had some really wild stories from slope point
It's a toss up between that burger, and creamed Paua salad,I'll have to have both lol
It's a hard choice alright 👍 easily made when ppl don't appreciate paua

Are you doing a book on your travels?..might make a good English-studies project for your kids..
Too much admin, I think it's well recorded here lol... if someone wanted it to go into book form I'd happily do it as a job
