I think the best thing I like combat wise, is the ultimate abilities for Necromancy. Specifically Living Death.
Rather than your boring damage bosting ability, it just powers up your other abilties.
And I think that's just more enganging and fun than "stand in circle for more damage". I hope they build on that foundation.
DS/ Shine are fantastic abilities if jagex had more movement-orientated bosses.
Being limited to a location for high DPS could be a nice trade-off but currently this hasn’t been explored enough
That's pretty much all of Necromancy to me. All of your abilities feel like they're actively doing something, and not just different flavors of do damage.
definitely. abilities that alter your other abilities, and not just "continue pressing your highest average damage ability on cooldown" is the way to go. not to mention the standard rotations, with managing necrosis, residual souls and your conjures is fun as hell
@@lolbajset tell me you don't use eoc without telling me you don't use eoc.
@@LukasBlake? the old damage boosting ultis are just that, extra damage with no change in gameplay
I think demonic ashes could be used to increase the amount of ink you get from necroplasm.
So ashes could be the standard 20/1 plasm to ink ratio and increase the amount depending on the ash.
Impious: 20/2
Accursed: 20/4
Infernal: 20/6
Tortured: 20/8
Searing: 20/10
So ashes have value but demon is can be used to increase output.
That's way complex and thinking ahead to modern rs3 devs. Just fly over their heads.
Scape jazz is the best quest reward ever
3:48 I prefer the latter. Discovery >>>handholding
I always feel like Scape Jazz is about to transition into the Family Feud theme.
I think it's the brass.
Yeah if this track hadn't been an absolute banger I would have been really disapointed after all the trouble to get this quest done :)
Former comp cape here. Im lvl 43 so far, I'm feeling burned with rs3 and busy with better hobbies atm, so I won't max for the next few weeks.
Overall the last two years for rs3 aren't the best. I had zero hype for Necromancy, so Im just feeling indifferent.
Anyway, thank you for being the best rs3 content creator.
Something about a new combat style existing outside of the combat triangle, as well as having its secondary training component isolated to a themed area reminds me heavily of how Battleon's Adventure Quest handled new classes back in the day, with class-specific quests and tiered gear existing alongside the primary game content. It worked there, and I must say, it definitely works in Runescape's case, much to my surprise!
Most fun I've had with combat in a long, long time; rituals are great too. I just wish it didn't feel like I've completed most everything by even level 80. Archaeology felt like more of an adventure, with new stuff to discover around every corner with how dispersed its content was in revitalizing old areas. Whatever the case, I'm a big fan, would genuinely love to see other combat styles added in the future should Jagex feel there's a niche to fill (summoning rework, anyone?).
On your point on the depiction of necromancy (not anti-hero, bad for the sake of good malarkey) what immediately came to my mind when unlocking necromancy was Psychopomps! In guiding souls back to the well of souls and borrowing their power with consent, we act as a figure that guides souls to the afterlife and safeguards them. Its neat!
The problem I have with the cloth is that you can’t do anything until it’s past level 90 because you just don’t have enough glyph space in the rituals to make a difference in the output sense it rounds down.
You don't need greater ensouled cloth until 80 necromancy, so it's not so bad to stick with t70 armor until 90. That's what I did.
@@JustBackgroundNoise yes but that doesn’t exclude the 50+ rituals you have to do for the other components for the lower level armor, because you can’t multiply anything until that point
@@JustBackgroundNoise everything else is one imput one output it would make more sense that you could take the robes to a Tailory in kili’s workshop and cut the them into unensouled bolts of cloth.
The damage is not crazy high. It is all the buffs to undead, making it seem high.
I got my fastest kill times at all four of the GWD2 bosses at level 90. Being able to presummon the ghost and cast its empower without costing any adrenaline is nuts.
I wouldn't be surprised if that gets nerfed.
@@JustBackgroundNoise using t80 necro weapons and t70 armour, at level 84 necro, I was getting 38-45 second kills at vindicta.
With magic (elite seasinger + subj + gconc, level 99, biting 4) I get 31-43 second kills
The effort required to reach those 2 points isn't even comparable, but gets similar kill times. It's kinda ridiculous
Pre summon + skulls double/triple/sextuple dipping debuffs is also ridiculous
@@nickman287 The difference is due to how accuracy works. If the others don't "miss" you get the same stuff. Personally using times for these weak mid level bosses does not matter. If there are large differences at the higher end there is a problem.
@JustBackgroundNoise if you are using manual now and not before. That will be a main point of the time saved. Better understanding of the skills goes a long way.
@@killler240 Oh, yeah. That's a good point.
What I like the most about the skill was the skill tree. They should’ve made it to where you can only pick one ability on each tier, and implement the skill tree on all the other combat skills. The skill tree could’ve been one of the most creative and fantastic way to not only fix the balance issue people would complain about but allow people to mix and match different abilities for a more easier or challenging pvm or pvp experience. Just my 2 cents.
I am also not a good pvmer, never done Nex, Telos or the ambassador before. But with necromancy I tried doing them for the tasks and it was not too hard! I did Nex and Amby in duos, and Telos alone, and I was able to get a kill after trying for a bit. I think they did a good job making pvm a bit more accessible with this combat style. I'd recommend you give them a try!
thank you for the info about threshholds, didnt know it worked like that
There are 5 basic adrenaline gaining abilities for this skill. Don’t forget you can still use tuskas slayer ability every 15 seconds in all combat styles along with sacrifice ability. Those are two hp based hybrid basic abilities. Allows for revo plus plus using necromancy.
The necromancy auto attack is stronger and generate more adrenaline. Sacrifice ranges from 20-100%, Tuska from 30-110%, both building 8% adren. The auto ranges from 90-110%, generating 9% adrenaline.
On top of that, the basic is affected by the invigorating perk, making it generate even more adrenline.
@@JustBackgroundNoise The basic necroimancy ability off cooldown will not activate when ready. It cycles through abilities first. Then once no other revolution ability is available, only then it will be used which is bad for revo plus plus. Having a 4th basic helps with this.
Great guide! I'm still figuring out combat with necromancy... I've gotten used to revolution bars and necro is a different thing. Same with augmentation of my power armor etc. I don't play for hours and hour etc. so only level 80 right now. I do want to get back into the max guild pretty quickly and want to max our my character within a couple months (get lv120 so I'm max). I try to keep in the max scores above 35,000and right now I'm well above that. I'm also looking to finish the quests to get my quest cape back up again.
Great video. I'm always working on the tank armour, mostly because I'm lazy and let's be honest... With tank armour the power will be easier, still can perk your gear and get the relevant tiered weapons as you upgrade through tank. So I think short term will be stress free :)
Re: power armor quests being substantially harder than tank armor - I think that's a good thing. Players in general never use tank over power given a choice, the only thing keeping it in use is gano/cryptbloom with animate dead (which we really gotta rename, jagex). Making it so players are going to choose between t90 tank or t70 power is good, and then it means that there's a natural upgrade path for players to go towards without actually making higher tiers of gear.
Deaths head moths are not disturbances. They are their own thing that are attracted to successful rituals. They have a about a 25% spawn chance after a ritual is completed and they stack exp based on the level you were when you caught it. So it's always worth to get them. Currently pick them up for 8,5k exp per
Wow. I wonder if there's an upper limit on them.
@JustBackgroundNoise wiki doesn't say there is. If there is it would probably be what a huge lamp gives maxing out at 120 but I don't think it's been documented.
RS3 gets Necromancy. We over here on OSRS are getting Sailing... We're so screwed.
Necromancy is also rowing boat skill :)
Really appreciate your opinions on this. My smooth brain was super worried about how to get the power armor at 80 before you mentioned being able to get 90 tank armor (and weapons) to then go back and get tier 80+ power armor. Thats the way I'm going to go as well 😊
I never did nex before, I went and did it lastnight with t90 weps & tank set. It wasn't too bad(not enjoyable fight though imo), the health and %dr from tank armor definitely helped carry me lol. So if I was able to do it I'm sure you'll be able to too!
I appreciate the encouragement. Been playing off and on for more than a decade and I've only recently been moving toward higher difficulty bosses :p looking forward to some beat downs 👇
Necromancy, a combat style against the undead. 💀
We need other 2 new combat styles, one for dragon slayer, the other one for demon slayer combat style 🤷🏻♂️
Need more adrenaline abilities.
There's one case I could see where you kill someone and they still consent to being raised by you: A "Viking type" of character. The kind of characters that will take dying to your weapon in a duel to the death as a sign of being bested and decide that, since you defeated them in a fair fight, they are happy to assist you with their skills in the afterlife.

It would be neat if with the elite task set you could get a ritual from Ichlaran for making Ushabti assuming you have the appropriate slayer level
#JusticeForNomad
I have zero plans to go for tier 90 power armour till something is done about the quest. no way am I fighting Ambassador for it.
If it helps, apparently you can use a dart against him. At least, that's what I've heard people say.
@@JustBackgroundNoiseyou cant but someone in your group can
Ghosts will heal you. I found them useful during Nex. For some reason it seemed much easier than before.
The way I see it, due to the elves' abundance of life force (incredibly long lives) and the fact that they 'yield' rather than die outright, we might be getting a 'sliver' of their essence as opposed to murdering them with reckless abandon and taking their souls.
But the elves long lives is because Seren gave it to them, all the elves have a little Seren in them, and its through the presence of her crystals that keep them from getting sick. So if that bit of essence is Seren's doing, does that mean we are adding literal slivers of a goddess to our army?
Also, elves without Seren go completely insane, so if we take enough of those slivers, the elf might just go batshit crazy and start murdering people...
I never solod nex before. I finally managed to do it with lvl 83 necromancy with overloads. It took 1.5 hours or so for 5 kills but i did it. Blood phase is rough.
do i need to upgrade the armor myself or can i jsut buy the t80/t90 power amor myself? Im scared to kill telos, nex, ambassador.
I think it's buyable, but you need to craft it before you're able to wear it. Not sure, though.
I’ve spent like 10 hours trying to upgrade to T70 power gear and then realized you can just buy it?? Hahaha….
I've heard that you can't use it if you haven't created it before by yourself.
@@Mr_Glenn Ohhh ok that makes me feel better. I guess it makes sense to be able to buy it if you've made it and die.
I think the skill is fun when you get to enjoy it, but it feels like it takes so much preparation to actully enjoy the skill.
Im juat getting back into rs3 so excited
I love necromancy! Anything that makes it so i dont have to buy a ranged setup for nex is a win in my book. Ive had a maxed mage set for millennia and really didnt want to spend the money on max ranged and melee. This, however, i can get behind
T80 power tasks is pretty easy. If you've ever done nex before, you're good. Go for T90 tank first, upgrade weapons to T90 and armor to T70 power and you should be good to go.
Since i was only using thresholds and ults on manual with basics on revo. Necro kinda annoyed me. I still found a way to revo some of it but its definitely asking for more manual than i like and might end up dropping it entirely for now till they make it more revo friendly
The skill is very low maintenance since the basic gives adrenaline. You can revo the other two basic (Sap and Touch of death) then use the others skills manually.
@@TrickZ_Retzsame here
@@killler240 I think that's what OP is saying, and that they prefer being able to use everything on revo without halving their dps.
@@killler240 you can revo the skeletons as they don't use adrenaline the issue is its too many abilities for manual to manage to not lose dpm.
@@Omni0404 No. They said the manually press thresholds and ultimate. Everything on revo for bosses is not good.
They need to introduce summon skins or summon customizable and make huge bank of that
Maikeru had a guide up within 24 minutes.
technically, unless stated. wouldn't Nomad not be a necromancer due to being a student of Oreb, the Magister. who originally came from Teragard. whereas Rasiel is presumably either from Teragard or some random planet Guthix gathered the first humans came from? for Nomad to be directly related, Oreb would need to be manipulated by Rasiel. kind of feel to me that Nomad simply uses the souls of dead people to magically enhance himself, whereas Necromancy seems kind of like a living memory manifestation of the dead. though the ambassador eventually came to Oreb,
The Menaphos soul obelisk, and the Soul Wars obelisk appear to be teragardian in make at least. i'm just assuming Xau-Tak and the denizens of Erebus is playing both sides to get the player to do something. heck, Rasiel managed to extract elements of Erebus to create necromancy rune altars. in a sense, we're using techniques+knowedge from various points just for erebus to slowly encroach faster. the Mwanu/Horrors even appear to have transcended time and space to escape from Jermyn (Bobonosia) to presumably Gielinor, presumably taking chunks and altars made of black stone with them.
presumably something Xau-Tak related. you would think that Rasiel creating another well of souls is another finalized piece of tech that the beings from Erebus would utilize to maintain their forms and avert their body's enthropy. they'll gnaw reality from the inside out, starting with Gielinor's afterlife.
My assumption is that necromancy is a subset of soul magic. Applied soul magic.
What Nomad was doing was pure soul magic with no explicit application. Think of Rasial as an engineer and Nomad as a physicist.
Since Rasial was among the first humans on Gielinor, it's likely he came from Teragard and used Teradgardian soul magic to discover necromancy. If I'm not mistaken, he didn't start out using powers from Erebus. It wasn't until his interactions with Orcus that he created the necrotic runecrafting altars. So I don't think necromancy requires Erebus.
i generally thought that teragard was moderately low-technology, but didn't spring up as a superpower until they started to siphon from the scism. Saradomin probably was a regular human and wound up somewhere after casually walking through the scism. maybe he found The Crown on a random planet, though for some reason he never really recruited humans into his army initially, but he came back after thousands of years (or im thinking of after the Edicts were formed) and suddenly they outright forgot him and founded the house system as they developed without him, becoming isolated in the process (barring Robert the Strong). he at least has Icyene warriors when he assaulted guthix' homeworld for an elder artifact then left.
though he did later crossbreed humans with unicorns from a shard of Renmark (which became the enchanted valley. though it may possibly be the world's nature. since the Queen of Snow and the King of Roses are the same person, just transforms on a seasonal cycle. King of Roses might be santa. queen of sunrise represents spring at least.) which created the centaur race which had to occur after Guthix destroyed the planet to kill Mur. the world gate was hidden by Zarosians, so there'd be no other way for humans to arrive outside of the initial ones. @@JustBackgroundNoise
@@PluckyInc
It was Saradomin himself who instituted the system of twelve magisters to create order on the planet. After Saradomin left, the houses began feuding, and one of the Magisters, Oreb, eventually left Teragard before the fifth age.
The technology they do have is powered by energies pouring out of the schism, mixing magic with their tech.
I don't know if we _know_ that they use soul magic on Teragard, but what's true is that soul magic and Teragardian magic are both runeless.
Basically, I think necromancy is a form of soul magic, but not all soul magic is necromancy. It's why Nomad went to Dragith Nurn; he was a necromancer, but Nomad thought there was something to learn from him.
How is Necromancy with Legacy combat mode?
It seems comparable to other combat styles with legacy. A benefit is that it's outside of melee range but the autos don't consume any ammunition, unlike magic and ranged.
Given that it’s now near impossible to get hold of subjugation gear, upgrading past T70 power is not happening for me. I’ve spent the past 3 days killing Kril repeatedly, 400+ kills in with LoTD and the most I’ve got is a few sharks and warpriest pieces. Buying on the GE for anything less than 50m per piece is impossible. They either need to flood the GE with subj gear or increase the drop chance massively, and let’s be honest they’re going to do neither. Dead skill.
If I played rs3, I would suggest an archeology expansion themed around necro.
I need background noise while I study. Let's see if you live up to your name bearded man.
Edit: Your thoughts on Necromancy + Invention were hilarious
I'd personally like it if they replaced the pvm sections of requirements for upgrades with... drum roll please: Higher tier slayer monsters instead. all below 120 in requirement though. I hate the idea of having to kill a boss just to satisfy the requirements... despite bein' playing this game for the better half of my life - idk, just a personal input with added fluff. But yeah... would've been apprechiated.
It’s pretty balanced if you’re not fighting undead
The nex requirement is simply a lot easier than a lot of people assume and they over hype the difficulty in their head. Since they re-worked accuracy, blood phase is just a matter of if you can stay calm, while before you needed to have high accuracy and get good hits, while also staying calm
My problem with Nex wasn't the blood phase. That was fine. It was the ice phase that kept doing me in.
Although...now that the tank armor provides so much health, it might not be as much of a problem.
@@JustBackgroundNoise I brought powerburst of vitality in case resonance was on cooldown
@@JustBackgroundNoise Yeah ice phase can definitely put you on your bum. A couple things that might help.
If you switch nex to ice phase after being marked as a sacrifice, her first attack will be contain this. If you switch her after she's siphoned, her first attack is ice prison.
You might not realise you can use defensives and eat in the prison, you'll just need to click on the skill or food in you inventory. I find just spam clicking brews in my invent while in the prison an effective way of staying alive. As well as that, using resonance while in the prison can really help you gain some hp back once you're free. Debilitate is also really really helpful and you should be looking to use it whenever it's off CD

I don’t think killing 5 nex is steep, you get full t80 power set guarantee for only 5 kills. Also t90 is stupidly easy to get, couple of 1kc bosses and you have a full t90 power armour. It’s silly how easy they’ve made it
What other style can you get gaurntee t90 power with a handful of kills
