At least a robot is more predictable than a human. Robots have specific parameters to follow and a core that does not understand self-awareness as of yet so in essence it would be safer than your average human. Human beings with self-awareness are unpredictable but robots with specified parameters are.
nah, hiring a random dude to patrol your neighborhood with a minigun is a lot more cheaper lol...and is done/have been done on a mass scale in history, but only now you are afraid lol?

The Da Vinci is years old. I had the honour of facilitating a live video link at a conference in London, more than a decade ago, with a live prostatectomy via a "Da Vinci 2" in the nearby hospital. The Da Vinci 2 was the better, stereoscopic, remotely-operable robot for cutting-edge keyhole surgical procedures. I was utterly fascinated - geeking out, even - watching from the surgeon's perspective as tiny metal hands and tools delicately excised a tumour with such precision that nerves and vessels were spared, every tiny incision was perfectly closed or cauterised, and barely a half-inch scar would be left as a reminder. They had assembled a demo pod in the conference lobby, so once my part was done with the video link I went and had a play with the idle robot. As the conference visitors were all engaged n the event I had plenty of time to work my way through the various provided exercises- mostly tying tiny bows, or stitching jelly moulds together. The controls felt so intuitive, and the VR-like interface and haptic feedback provided so much depth and tact, that I took quite naturally to it. I redid several abortive efforts by the visiting surgeons and delegates, delicately removing stitches, rearranging mock tissues, and precisely reattaching them with stitches that looked inches wide in my view, but were almost just a hair's-breadth apart. It was as easy as sewing... just with weird thimbles. I even did a little origami, and not just a paper plane either, but the same little crane that I'd made from countless napkins and Post-Its ever since I was bored in class back at school. When I finally emerged from the control interface I realised that I'd gathered a small audience. They were all gazing at a large screen displaying the entire performance from my perspective beside the 'operating table' full of my tiny experiments. Suddenly embarrassed, and worried that I'd be in trouble for playing with the very expensive equipment when I should have been hiding behind my own equipment somewhere in the shadows, I tried to make a quick getaway. I was stopped by a woman holding the hand of a young girl. She gently tapped me on the arm and gushed excitedly. "That's amazing! You've obviously had practice. Are you a urological surgeon? My daughter wants to be a doctor one day. Where did you study?" I have never been a good liar. As the gathered group of suited professionals (some of whom were certainly accomplished surgeons) turned in curiosity to the exchange, I blushed uncomfortably and gave her my most professional smile. "I'm afraid that I'm just the IT guy. I couldn't resist trying it out." Upon gesturing to the amazing machine, I noticed a few quizzical glances. Guessing that they couldn't believe it was my first try, I mimmicked waggling the thumbsticks of an invisible controller and shrugged. "Playstation generation", I said, grinned broadly, and ducked out as quickly as possible. At least the little girl appreciated my effort - she laughed heartily. I wonder if she got a console for Christmas?" _____ "qua-drooped" XD - That's just gold! I will never pronounce "biped" the same way again! ;)
boston dynamics are definatly the best imo i cant wait fot machines like that to work with full ai and the digital realm starts working like our human analog realm
I mean, it makes sense if you consider the reality that they're still too expensive in comparison to using just standard humans. The sheer degree of maintenance required to simply keep them fully functional would be over the top. There's also the reality that dedicating an entire army to robotics would open them up to being hacked, or worse yet, uselessness through electromagnetic pulses, which can be made for an incredibly cheap cost.
@@Hans5958 you're going to run into the same issue of robots being in need of maintenance or repair. Until a time comes where they can repair themselves, or they have some sort of fleet of repair robots that can repair themselves as well as other robots - no matter the fault or problem, we will be of use to ourselves in the very least to some minute degree.
Nah these people that replyed are the dumb ones. Its time for humans to evolve again. We can make robots take all the mundane jobs and push humans into another great thinking period. Moneys the only issue. But we created money so why are we slaves to it?
You guys don't seem to understand how economy, even society works. I'd suggest you to learn and know history much much more. (I'm not here to show how smartass I am)
I look at it this way. The one where they knock the box down constantly, the robot will think that the human is an obstacle, get rid of thing stopping you (human) then you can lift the box up. O.o
It's amazing to watch how robots like Atlas, Asimo, Da Vinci, and SoFi from Boston Dynamics are expanding the frontiers of technology. Their amazing powers are demonstrated in this video.
Boston Dynamics are way ahead with all of this. Just imagine in about 10 years, it'll be like the NS series from i, robot. And like a few others have said, these are just the ones that they show the public. Imagine the ones that they're not showing you, like DARPA's stuff, how advanced those probably are. "One day they'll have secrets, one day they'll have dreams" ; ) Great video Cold Fusion.
@@tsiobieman6547 Of course they thought of that, it's made and run by engineers and marine biologists. They're most likely using it in areas that don't have bigger fish that might attempt to eat or damage it.
Actually it makes sense when you think about it. You can't tell in the vid but Atlas is really loud with all those electric motors going and isn't very fast either. A human with a scrap of military training could outsmart it easily. Not to mention as well it can't identify friend from foe so fitting it with a fire arm would be ridiculously difficult and probably cut it's already relatively short battery life (atleast compared to how long the average military engagement is) even shorter. Atlas really wouldn't be much help in the military besides for maybe logistics as a supply carrier.
@@RiggsEclipse The vast majority of drone strikes don't target people correctly anyway. So I doubt the military would be bothered too much about precise targeting.. They literally bomb entire buildings full of people based on the location of a mobile device. So deploying an armed robot into a building wouldn't be much different. I agree at the moment these machines could be out smarted. However with 5-10 years development they could probably move almost silently at an unsee able speed and process 100s of calculations in the time it takes a human to react. They also don't have any hesitation or suffer fatigue and will not be effected by ptsd.
@@aqueminiarts While I agree about the drones that is bombing runs you're talking about so that doesn't really apply here. Kinda comparing apples to oranges there. And the thing is that yes Somme of those things could become realities but ya gotta remember that for every improvement means a power consumption increase. And while computers have advanced incredibly in a short time batteries aren't advancing as quickly. Plus a computer program to identify friend from foe while already difficult to make to begin with, could be easily fooled with the right camo. So it'd have to be constantly updated which you can't really do while they're in a fight and if they can't identify a foe they're just expensive paper weights. Like with time I'm positive we'll have military robotics like what you're thinking but Atlas is no where close to that level for anything like that any time soon. That's not to mention unlike machines in movies you break one chip or wire and the whole thing will just stop working when it comes to computers. So they'd be really delicate.
@@RiggsEclipse I understand the problems you've raised with targeting and identify foes. My point was that military forces don't usually care so much for civilian casualties, they literally kill hundreds/thousands to get one target. The Industrial military complex does not care for your innocence. The issue with battery life is obviously a problem at the moment. But you can't seriously believe that what we watch on UA-cam is cutting edge, this is years behind what they are actually capable of right now.
@@aqueminiarts I mean to a degree they surely must care for innocents atleast for public image sake. And I honestly don't know. We have no way of knowing if for any reason that if they don't there will always be someone who thinks they're lying just cause it's the gov saying it. And while I agree the fanciest stuff will surely be kept a secret I also highly doubt it's a men in black situation. Tanks and better radar were kept secret in WW1 but they weren't science fiction levels of advanced for their time. We keep things secret sure but realistically they're not gonna be as advanced as many seem to think.

Yep... replace the words "search and rescue" with " seek and destroy" ... not so cool now. At the rate they are going.. atlas will run at 50 mph very soon. Adapt battle tactics.. they will like the sentinels from x men.
Why is that bad? If they replace police, isn’t that good?
People: Designs robots to replace difficult tasks in the army.

Where did you study?"
I have never been a good liar. As the gathered group of suited professionals (some of whom were certainly accomplished surgeons) turned in curiosity to the exchange, I blushed uncomfortably and gave her my most professional smile.
"I'm afraid that I'm just the IT guy. I couldn't resist trying it out."
Upon gesturing to the amazing machine, I noticed a few quizzical glances.
I wonder if she got a console for Christmas?"

"qua-drooped" XD - That's just gold! I will never pronounce "biped" the same way again! ;)
Boston dynamics best robots outta those groups for sure 😀
boston dynamics are definatly the best imo i cant wait fot machines like that to work with full ai and the digital realm starts working like our human analog realm
This is gonna blow up soon, robots are gonna be everywhere.
Military has said won't use technology. 😂😂😂
If you saying that that's a big lie, they send a weaponized version after you! Boston Dynamics use to work for..........the militairy!
Rich Gallagher They didn’t say they won’t use the technolog. Only that they won’t use the current model.
For offensive purposes, of course they will use in other applications.
5:14 Now let's just teach him how to do the Fortnite default dance and we're done😂
I love all the creations by BOSTON DYNAMICS
5:58 they did surgery on a grape, with the da Vinci
I’ve got a plum that doesn’t feel so good, can I bring it in?
Free us from jobs already
Robots must take jobs Immediately welcome to the unemployment line. Idiot
Most uneducated response ever! You win the prize!
Nah these people that replyed are the dumb ones. Its time for humans to evolve again. We can make robots take all the mundane jobs and push humans into another great thinking period. Moneys the only issue. But we created money so why are we slaves to it?
Thomas Watkins the government created money and turn us into slaves
You guys don't seem to understand how economy, even society works. I'd suggest you to learn and know history much much more. (I'm not here to show how smartass I am)
Thanks!

Can’t read? Underneath and untethered are two very different words.
Enjoyed the video nonetheless.
He also pronounced quadruped so that it rhymed with "duped" smh
I look at it this way. The one where they knock the box down constantly, the robot will think that the human is an obstacle, get rid of thing stopping you (human) then you can lift the box up. O.o
It can only dodge obstacles
Flexican the robot wont "think" anything at all, it has no ability of thinking
@@FenceThis you know what I mean, lmao
He is with a friend, not with a machine.
This is wonderful.
At: 1:23 - the DOD is not interested in using this Robot - that means precisely they are interested.
"That's not a head, it's an arm" also "You can see it keeps it's head immobile while the body is moving around"
Well spotted
@@rumbled5461 nice pun
It's amazing to watch how robots like Atlas, Asimo, Da Vinci, and SoFi from Boston Dynamics are expanding the frontiers of technology. Their amazing powers are demonstrated in this video.
3:23 Anybody else wondering WHY he was afraid to let the robot autonomously give him the soda can🤔
It might drop it
@@carcinogen60yearsago lol they should've had that all tested and safely ready for the presentation.
Watch the Boston dynamics video, they suck at giving people drinks.
@@pleasedisregardthefollowin5568 yea I seen that a while back, the robot didn't want to let go of the can.
The video of the baby-feeding robot smashing the baby doll in the face with a bottle comes to mind.
Anyone remember a major saying on TV with jade helm 15. That they dressed robots in military uniforms to see how the public would react to them.
"One day they'll have secrets, one day they'll have dreams" ; )
Great video Cold Fusion.
Nope they Don't plan to use this for offensive or defensive purposes they just plan to stick these on shelves at toys r us
Toys R Us is bankrupt
sends you a free poltergeist, EVIL ENTITY.
Toysrus is gone, it's Walmart or warfare. Maybe first responder application can start production without all the doomsday protesters.🤣-pft.
before anyone learns to shoot to kill, they learn to crawl, walk, run and open doors and such.
dont forget backflips
Love them all, great cold fusion.
Idk how much I want my surgeon using their “creative freedom” on me.
Hail to our new masters. I ask that you consider, before my deletion, that I can useful rounding up more humans!
Sofi is my favorite. I can’t wait to see what it discovers.
Looks like were gonna have a great future
A.I. and robotics are the future and I welcome it.
I too welcome our robotic overlords
Love on a real train playing in the background added to the amazement of the video, that's the music of the technology of the future.
"Robot fish using a fisheye lens" Damn
4:18 imagine being chases by this beast
I really love the Honda Asimo. Really versatile and advanced.
That fake fish will get ate by a bigger fish...?
The fish robot is great until it gets eaten by a bigger fish.
I thought the exact same thing. What if it gets eaten by a bigger fish, did they think of that scenario?
There’s always a bigger fish.
make that a bigger fish robot.
@@tsiobieman6547 Of course they thought of that, it's made and run by engineers and marine biologists. They're most likely using it in areas that don't have bigger fish that might attempt to eat or damage it.
Fine tuned surgical procedure has to top the list, but they were all quite impressive technological achievements.
Spot mini looks like the Hunter from Half Life episode 2
Dude I thought the same
I'll be Fakn Scared as Shit when the Robot ask for a Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 Watt Range
Just what you see pal.
Jeez, you really know your guns.
The Boston Dynamics rig on wheels that has the 48 inch vertical was the coolest Robot in my opinion.
me, upon seeing the robo boi on wheels "master, destroyers!"
Came here after the new Spot Launch vid..
Lmao same
Nice video ColdFusion :]
And is there a fleshlight attachment? asking for a friend .....
MrScottyMillz - ho check real dolls com
I'm impressed and frightened about these advancement
I like all of the usefull robots ;)
"The military has no interest in using these..." pahhahHahaahHa yeh, yeh of course they don't.
How stupid do they think we are?
Actually it makes sense when you think about it. You can't tell in the vid but Atlas is really loud with all those electric motors going and isn't very fast either. A human with a scrap of military training could outsmart it easily. Not to mention as well it can't identify friend from foe so fitting it with a fire arm would be ridiculously difficult and probably cut it's already relatively short battery life (atleast compared to how long the average military engagement is) even shorter. Atlas really wouldn't be much help in the military besides for maybe logistics as a supply carrier.
@@RiggsEclipse
The vast majority of drone strikes don't target people correctly anyway.
@@RiggsEclipse
I understand the problems you've raised with targeting and identify foes.
This thing is about to take ur job 💯
I liked the surgeon assistant robot and the first yellow robot, we should respect QUALMS and the robots as they are an extension of QUALMS.
Open cat will win battlebots 2025
Probably it will be called "custom cat"
Atlas its what's going to be chasing you one day at around 85 mph. If your on foot forget about getting away.
If you're in a vehicle, you've already been caught.
wow!!! congrats to all who are working in robotics!!!!!
