    On the evening of November 29, 1964, 2 years before the fight, Williams was shot in the stomach by a highway patrolman, for supposedly resisting arrest. The . 357 magnum bullet moved across his intestines and lodged in his right hip, doing immense damage to his colon and right kidney.
    Then Ali had a Hernia that on Nov. 19 1964 for a rematch with Liston was cancelled. Then Williams found himself fighting for his life a week later. That stinks of rubbish. They knew that Clay would win the rematch because the Fix was in play. But they didn’t know what to do about mandatory challenger. So they purposefully cancelled the fight on the news Ali has a Hernia. No proof came to fruition. So they had taken Ali greatest threat of the title because he was not prepared to loose for a fix. So they attempted to kill him & his manager was on the fix, Bud Adams. These circumstances don’t just happen it was all done by design.

      Is bud adams his manager? The guy when Cleveland came back to the corner after winning and that guy talks to Williams to raise his hand as a sign of winning??

    Thanks for posting! Williams won most of his fights but very few of them on UA-cam; unfortunately, most of his wins were probably not filmed, or the films are long disappeared. One of the great heavyweight punchers of all time.

      I notced too. Right before Williams took over, he thumped and banged Williams with some well-timed shots. Dunno about his chin, etc. though.

    The Big Cat could punch!!! Even though he was a shell of his former self for the fight against Ali...Ali is quoted saying "he hit awfully hard!"

    This fight was key to Williams been given his long awaited title shot against Muhammad Ali. He KO’d a tough fighter in Todd Herring who previous year in 1965 fought former Heavyweight Champion Floyd Patterson.

    Going back to the 60’s in heavy division most of the time when you have a devistating puncher like the big cat strikes lightning when he hits you Sonny Liston said he’d never been hit that hard before till big cat Williams laid gloves on him

    Thanks for posting…a lot of fans don’t k ow how devastating a keels d Williams was and just k ie himfor his two losses to an unstoppable Sonny Liston and a loss to a career highlight loss to MuHAMMaD Ai.l and this is after he got shot and had a billow lodged in him..but barring those tow losses Cleveland had blistering speed and devastating power.

    That left jab by Williams is so punishing it actually caused Whiplash every time it landed. Williams was definitely not the same man here as he was when he fought Terrell 2nd time & Billy Daniels. But you can see him sizing up Herring and when he lands that right that nearly floored Herring, he never was able to recover.

      This fight here vs Herring proves Williams wasnt that washed up when he got destroyed by Ali later the same year.

    • @clevelandwilliams5922
      @clevelandwilliams5922 Рік тому

      @@iamtman1 Compare his fight with Liston, Terrell & Daniels which took place post incident. Then compare the fight with Herring, which was last fight before his long awaited title fight against Muhammad Ali. That’s how you compare & contrast correctly and are able to see what the gun shot incident did, what it took from Williams. He may appear to be great in this fight film but I can see a lot of health restrictions. Please stop deluding yourself to justify your love for Ali. Ali had his chance to fight the post .357 magnum Williams. He chose to fight him at that point in his career for a reason. He feared and wanted nothing to do with Williams until or after the incident.

    People forget he was in line for a title shot against Rocky, didn't get it, against Patterson, didn't get it, against Ingemar Johansson, didn't get it. Finally had to fight Liston who was also having the same issue, winner getting chance at Patterson. Liston beat CW in a tough grueling fight. I love Floyd, but back in 1960, he wouldn't have beat Cleveland Williams.

      Plus, if I'm remembering correctly, he is a rebuilt fighter after shrinking to scarecrow proportions while recovering from the gunshot wounds. More powerful even then than one might think considering the one-sided Ali trouncing. Just too slow for Ali, even slower than Sonny, but still dangerous.

      Plus his manager used him for free labor on the ranch and although it helped Williams rebuild himself physically, the night of his fight against Ali his manager told him that Cleveland was going to have to pay all his medical bills from that gunshot wound.

      @@frankpaya690 This needs to be investigated, to why they did that to Cleveland Williams. Because was that to shatter his confidence to ensure an Ali victory. Ali lost to a post .357 magnum recovered Williams, he would never have been remembered or been in hall of fame. Plus it would’ve exposed the lies of Liston wins. Because if Williams post .357 can beat Ali, but a prime Williams couldn’t knockout a prime Liston. Ali beats Liston, then you know something stinks, to why Garnishing winnings was fundamental.

      @@trimotomann653 I won’t stop fighting for Williams because I know from all those events all working together, they were not just circumstances. It was a plot, because simply Liston was a hated man both from public and sports establishment. To why Williams had to fall, because Williams was considered by many at the time from 57 - 64 a top fledged heavyweight boxer. It demonstrated that Liston was something to destroy Williams & Patterson. So Ali comes along with the big mouth & he was going to bring fresh viewers. The controversial acts were overlooked and even celebrated at times. But Ali went too far by refusing to serve in United States Military. They didn’t want Williams to beat him because there was too much on the line. I’m talking about elements of boxing fraternity that were part of the conspiracy with Liston losses. They ensured that Williams was never going to hold that title, because Ali genuinely refused to fight him or face up to him and that was reinforced by recovering from gun shot injury. So elements of Nation of Islam expressed Ali’s concern and come in Bud Adams. No one in their right mind destroys the confidence of a fighter who is trying to win the Heavyweight Championship. Their is no logical sense in all of this, unless there is something crucial that no matter how bad Ali public opinion was during 1966, they were not going to allow the dirty tactics of Miami Beach 1964 or Lewiston Mayne 1965 be exposed. A loss to a crippled Williams would’ve drummed Ali out of existence.
