I usually just use a white plane and track a mask to the blade then overlay feathered and colored copies for glow. Let's me customize it as much as I want, but it does take longer than a 2 or 4 point preset.

I need help! It’s automatically adjusting my roundness and end and start size. I did hold key frames, but it gradually changes them over time. Example: One frame is at 0.90, and 3 frames later, I have it at 0.70. However, it’s automatically gradually changing it to the second between the first and last frame.
but i did what you did, toggle hold keyframes but when i move the light saber in the next frame the position changes in the last so there is the lightsaber moving in the same spot the whole time not folowing the character.

This is a good tutorial! But if your a person who does Star Wars stop motion on there iPhone and want the light saber effect here’s the link to it at the App Store but it costs 1$ LASER SWORD PHOTO EDITOR
That's funny, cause I just repeated the tutorial in 2017 with great results. Are you talking about the switch to "screen" mode? If so, you probably did not add the solid black layer. You add the saber effect to the black layer and then change the mode of the black layer to screen. You have no option on the saber effect itself for "screen". Hope I'm understanding you correctly.

Of course, if you want it to be REALLY good, you have to use colored lamps in your set.
That, or spend a lot of time adding lighting using software.

NTN StopMotion that picture is absolute perfection
for lighting, you need to use unnatural lighting, which means you just block all sunlight and use lamps or something

NTN StopMotion I do have one basic lighting tutorial that might help. But we will definitely think about doing a more advanced tutorial :)
