Treblebleeds only work of you use your volume pot, I like them becuase i use my volume. They only work good with brighter pickups to begin with. When u turn down to 6 it keeps your treble like it's on 10. If right pickups and right components. I use 200k and 800pf caps.
I have in the past avoided treble bleeds in the past because Dylan spoke against them…... However I took Phil McNight’s advice on using the .001 uf cap and 150k resistor treble bleeds and it is amazing. Even on 500K potentiometers. I’m now a fan of treble bleeds
@@ramencurry6672 they work great if u use your volume pot. But if you never touch it it's a waste. Most prs guitars use them, they have the best sweep in there pots out of any guitar I've ever played. You just gotta try it for yourself, I used to be against them. Becuase I thought they changed the sound, then I got prs se guitars that have them and great amp. I use my volume as a boost. With a treble bleed.
Dylan your backwards on the potentiometers thing. Resistance on 0 if full volume, on 500k it would be off as your volume goes up the Resistance goes down. If your wired between pins 2 and 3 with pin 1 grounded, that how it works .
Ugh… I’ll shoot a video Demonstrating this …. I just went into my office… grabbed a pot, and a meter…. Turned the knob to 10…. It read 250k…. Turned it to 0… it read short. In what world………. Would a short pass signal?
@@DylanTalksTone which pins you measure, ive measured hundreds of pots myself , I have a pot from every brand that exists, i wanted to see which taper was the best. From lugs 2 to 3 how wire a potentiometer, 1 is ground, turm it to 10 it measures zero resistance which is full volume, unless you have no load pots. You want zero resistance. Full resistance is volume down. Its a variable resistor that's how it works. Your adding resistance to the signal path when volume is down and taking away resistance when turned up. Measure it with a multimeter, full sweep
@@DylanTalksTone i think you thinking about voltage divider. Not a variable resistor. With a ac signal from guitar your putting resistance in the path of a very tiny signal, then removing resistance when turning volume up.
@@DylanTalksTone ok do a video of it then. I wanna see it. If pin 1 is ground that's the way it works. Friendly bet on that. Pin 3 is ground its opposite.

A lot of those cheap generic film capacitors are made by companies that actually specialize in capacitors. They do deserve credit and praise even if they’re made in obscure parts of Asia nobody has heard of
There's nothing wrong with gfs potentiometer s there alpha Taiwan, there actually closer to tolerance the regular cts pots, there taper is fine. They dont use a carbon track, like cts, which makes there taper more accurate. Ive tested almost every brand of potentiometer, there parts are so close, I think most are made in the same factory. Cts doesn't make pots in the USA anymore. There made n Taiwan aswell. I prefer the Korean alpha pots better, they make pots for prs. But I think the best pots available are mojotone pots, there built with the c - ring like the original centralab.
Player series Strat is already pro level especially if you decide the optional route of replacing the pickups and doing a plek or fret leveling (If needed)
@@ramencurry6672 I know my way around gear. I can work on hardware and frets myself. I like the pickups as they are. The only modification I made to my Player II Series strat was a bone nut that I cut by myself.

a gynecological exploration tool!
Use film capacitors, there self healing. But highly unlikely to hurt any new production capacitors.

The best potentiometers might actually be the Jim Dunlap ones. Supposedly they’re designed to last forever

Hot take: majority of people don’t play their guitars
A guitar that appreciated in value didn't become a better instrument by magic. Just saying....
It was probably a good one to begin with. You don’t see Harley Benton’s appreciate
There are no dumb questions, just dumb guitarist, who have little talent, yet continue to try.
Well if they're happy...
