Covid Recovery 4 Week Update! (Smell Therapy Update)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 сер 2024
- While the long term effects of Covid are still pending, it's possible to still experience a cough and other mild symptoms weeks after your initial diagnosis. In this video, we'll go over the symptoms I'm still experiencing and how I've recovered and manage ongoing effects of Covid.

Hey, honestly just got to day 11, and your videos really helped me. I've never felt so low not being able to smell things, scents play a huge role in everything i enjoy and Its been terrifying not knowing if what was happening to me is normal and that ill be okay. Thank you for the inspiration to keep fighting. My smell is at a 5% and after a few days of smelling therapy and my taste is starting to become normal, alot faster than my sense of smell.
You’ve got this! I hope you recover fully and quickly!
Did u get it back
Glad you’re feeling better. I started the olfactory training after seeing your video. My smell and taste are about 90% back after being tested about 3 weeks ago.
ive started smelling essential oils and anything that has power and is safe, mint mouthwash, coffee etc there is a faint smell that wasnt there a couple of dasy ago, how long until you had 50% roughly??
@@kaspaking probably about a week
Pretty much the only "positive" for me is that I cannot smell my bowel movements. If you put a plate of crap and a juicy steak in front of me and blindfolded me, I could literally not decipher the smells between the two.

Tested positive for Covid on Friday. Completely lost my sense of smell and taste on that day, but your experience gives me so much hope that I will get it back. Glad to hear you have fully recovered! And thank you for sharing this experience for people like me who are going through a really rough time not being able to enjoy these basic life functions.
Any updates?
@@congalala6777 Smell has returned, and improves day by day. I try to expose myself to as many aromas as possible to help stimulate the improvement. Lately, my ability to smell still fluctuates, but it gets stronger upon its return. Today at work I couldn't smell a thing, then came home to a house full of cooking and other fragrances and now it seems 100%! I am hopeful that this strong return means that it will not fade out again.
@@tylerterrasi4728 Great! I am pretty sure this is a positive sign. It's been almost a month for me and I would say that my smell returned about 90%. The interesting thing is the smell I have a hard time picking up are the bad ones. So Bathroom smells, rotten things, garbage etc. I could smell all the good things pretty well. LOL
@@congalala6777 Very interesting. As for me, I am pretty much back to normal but still have difficulty picking up very subtle odors in a room. Before this happened, I would enter my break room at work and I could smell the air around me; it had a distinct odor that signify that it was the break room. Granted, the odor was very subtle, but it was there. Now, I don’t really smell anything in my work building. When I get home, there are lots of scents around and it picks up noticeably.I’m thinking this will improve with time.
@@tylerterrasi4728 Yes! same with me. all those subtle smells are a little difficult to pick up
I tested positive on Jan. 3rd and lost my smell and taste the day before. I was 6 months pregnant at the time. My senses transitioned from anosmia to parosmia (most foods smelling rotten/fecal) in March, I had my son at the end of April, and I'm still dealing with it all. I've lost weight very quickly postpartum because I'm eating so little while breastfeeding. I've started taking zinc, vitamin B, vitamin D, and my prenatals just to try to get some nutrition in every day. I take caffeine pills to help with my headaches and stay awake enough to take care of my son. Most foods have smelled the same as my baby's dirty diapers since the day he was born. He'll be two months old in a few days. I'm going to take smell training more seriously going forward and hope for the best. If they ever come back, I'll never take my sense of smell or taste for granted again. This is awful.
I lost my smell & taste nearly 3 weeks ago. I watched your smell training video because I was so afraid I would never taste or smell again. As of maybe a week ago my taste is mostly, if not completely back. And scent is mostly back also. The only scent category that may be weak are florals or sweeter smells.
I don’t know if it was the smell therapy or if because I had a pretty mild case but I’m grateful to have my senses back.
are you recovered fully?..how long does it take?..please tell me
Did it came back and how long it took hope you are well
How long it took to be fully recover I’m getting little hint of smell back but it fades away . I’m on 21 day 😞
That’s totally me! Coughing, and clearing my throat is driving me crazy. I can’t wait to smell and taste again. Thank you for sharing! I’m so glad I’m not alone☺️
Ehigimentor Ehimen, will do. Thank you!!!
DR EHISZ also cured me,he is a great doctor.
Hi there, first of all thanks for the video. I lost my sense of smell for about 10 days, always had my sense of taste but as my sense of smell has started to recover I find that things also have more taste. To anyone watching the video, if you are going through this too, you have my sympathy but don't lose heart, I have read that the olfactory nerve system constantly regenerates itself and typically takes 6-8 weeks to complete a regeneration cycle. So there is plenty of hope for you to recover. My sense of smell started to come back 2 weeks ago, I could only smell a few things at first and very faintly and most things I still couldn't smell. Then the things I could smell got stronger and I could smell new things that the previous day I couldn't. My recovery has been gradual and is at about 80-85% now, and each day improving. I have been doing smell training for 2 weeks now with a specific kit of essential oils but, I also regularly smell things around the house as I have a reference to how they should smell. I have also been eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and making sure to get enough omega 3, ground flax, ground chia and walnuts everyday and making sure to get enough B12. On the recommendation of a doctor I have also been taking 600mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid each day as well. I don't know if any or all of this helped but I am very grateful that my sense of smell is returning and improving each day. I have noticed that it is not as strong in the morning but much stronger by the afternoon with certain scents, other scents seem less affected by this and have the same strength of odour, although these are the scents that I started to recover first, like mint, eucalyptus and citrus. Don't lose heart, I know it is difficult. Do your research and help yourself as much as you can with diet and smell training. I wish you all the best and a swift recovery.
are you recovered fully?..how long does it take?..please tell me
are you recovered fully?..how long does it take?..please tell me
@@rbragul8179 Yes, I am fully recovered. My sense of smell was completely gone for around 10 days and came back very slowly at first. To fully recover my sense of smell, it took between 4 and 6 weeks after it first started to comeback. Some days it fell like I had gone backwards which is why noting down and keeping a track of my recovery with the smell training kit was helpful as I could see a steady improvement overall. I found that I had a weaker sense of smell in the morning and stronger in the evening while I was recovering. After about 4 weeks I stopped tracking as my smell had recovered a lot and just had a little way to go. Although, I have read that it can take a few months in some cases. Now my sense of smell is completely recovered and as it was before. I wish you all the best, hang in there and be patient with yourself as people recover at different rates, but certainly try smelling things multiple times a day, particularly things you know the smell of, like coffee etc.

I got covid after a fishing trip with my dad a week ago. I lost my smell and taste Sunday. My wife and I went out for steaks and it was like eating a high dollar napkin. It’s now Saturday and I can smell peppermint, clove, and eucalyptus. I can’t pick up citrus at all oddly enough. I swear by zinc when you first start to lose the smell and taste, hit the zinc. I feel it’s aided in faster recovery that and b2.
Did u get it back and how long it took
Im not sure how you can tell how much better your smelling is because of the training and how much because of natural recovery. I developed COVID symptoms one week ago and for 4 days had what felt like zero smelling ability. I now have maybe 20 % back, which is encouraging. Taste improves too.
It’s been 2 weeks for me and my smell and taste is back to 60%, I’ve been doing olfactory training after watching your video. I’m very hopeful.
By any chance have you had any burning sensation in your nose after losing your smell

I tested positive on January 6th. I also lost my smell and taste 3 days after that so yeah it was interesting that it wasn’t my initial symptom either. It’s my 4th day with no smell and taste and it is very frustrating and saddening. I’m a 22 year old female and I’m trying the smell therapy with lemon, rose, and eucalyptus essential oils. Really hope it works! Thank you for sharing your experience and Good luck to everyone battling Covid.
I’m doing that too. Is it working for you?
Do you have an update?
@Rebecca 24 I am thankful that I have gotten my smell and taste back about 1.5 months after so sometime in March of last year. I did the smell therapy religiously and I think it helped. If you are currently dealing with this, I would say keep trying the smell therapy. It does help with stimulating the olfactory system and establishing memory of lost smell and taste. I hope you recover from this soon!
@@arsh1781 thank you so much! Now I have hope that mine will come back :)

I know right! I can’t smell a thing! No taste... can’t breathe properly. It is so frustrating to have headaches and nausea all day long.
Tim Get an ECG on your heart. A lot of athletes with mild covid have had damage to the heart. Breathlessness when exercising was a big indicator for this and in testing showed issues with the heart. Hope your continuing to improve 👍🏻 one PT to another.

@@starbabymady I lost my sense of taste and smell completely for around 4 days so it was relatively short. I would try to smell things like coffee and put lemon in my mouth everyday to test it...then suddenly one day I was drinking lemon tea and I tasted it but afterward, like for around 2 weeks things didn't taste normal, there was a hint of metallic in the food. So I would say It took in whole a month for my proper senses to return slowly.
After 2 days of fever, I woke up well and energetic today but at noon I found out that I lost my sense of smell , It was a shocking incidence to me, and was really mad about it. I was planning a travel to see my wife, kids and parents, now I have to wait 2 weeks to do so.🙏🙏😭

I was diagnosed on Jan 21. Lost smell and taste 1 week after positive test. For me it was similar to sinus infection with extreme fatigue and I would get winded just talking to people. Legit tired. Smell and taste back after 2 weeks thankfully. I’ve never been so happy to smell bacon in my life 😳 I still have a raspy throat that comes and goes...cough not so much anymore and lingering fatigue but blessed it was nothing more. I gained back my sense of smell after 2-3 weeks. Praise God…
I followed the olfactory training, and it also worked for me. I do feel like my taste is 100%. My smell is like 90% and is always better in the evening. I noticed I was also much more winded during my workouts. Just thought it was because I had taken time off. I mainly do cardio so going for a 45 minute to hour walk/jog definitely slowed down. Just noticing how unmotivated my mind is to work out also. I feel like I’m forcing myself to go almost everyday. The cold may have some impact on motivation. Yet, I always feel better after it’s done. I do not push myself too hard. If I feel I need to take a day off because my body hurts, I listen. If I feel halfway through that I can’t do the long route, I slow down and take a detour. Modify and adjust.

Are you recovered fully...how long does it take?..
I caught covid at the beginning of February and never had sever symptoms or fever. But it has done a number on my lungs and has left me very fatigued compared to how I was prior. But yes I still feel lingering symptoms, occasional congestion, drainage, clearing my throat and coughing (especially at night trying to sleep or laying down through out the day) and occasionally I will have headaches off and on. I’ve gotten sick often through out my life and don’t have the strongest immune system. I urge anyone who still thinks this is the flu, or think that because they are healthy they won’t be bothered by it, please take this seriously. It’s not just the matter of losing your life it’s also about your quality of life. I was very worried through out being sick that I would get worse and have to seek help, due to shortness of breath. And I’m thankful to god that I didn’t give this to my family. I’m not overtly religious and don’t pray for much, but I prayed hard that I hadn’t given it to someone else. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone even the ones who take this situation as political nonsense and have no respect to others for their well-being. But please everyone else don’t get cocky either limit social contact and be smart about things. It’s impossible to keep this from happening to you indefinitely but don’t take risks or chances, nothing is gonna be worth the consequences that can happen from this and you don’t realize that until you have it and it’s too late. There’s my rant. Thanks.
That cough and clearing throat started after a week and took about 3 to 4 weeks for me
Im almost done with week 2 and still feel sick, cough, fevers, achey and all this virus is terrible and the shortness of breathe
Thanks for the video, I’m on day 15 after testing positive, faintly getting some smells from the oils, I tried getting back on the treadmill, but when I did my cough got worse and had more shortness of breath, but I’m hopeful and staying positive that I’ll return to normal soon, thanks for your update 👍🏻
how r u now, i m on day 7 and had cough
I experienced the same thing. First had covid symptoms on Monday, Jan 25th. Tested positive on Tuesday, Jan 26. Then Wednesday Jan 27, I got a call from the state health department telling me to quarantine for 10 days then asking me about my symptoms and if my smell and taste were affected to which I replied no. Later on that afternoon, I received an antibody infusion at the local hospital and on Thursday, Jan 28, I had a delicious lunch at home. But then on Sunday, Jan 31, I noticed that I had no smell or taste. It shut off like a switch, and now Saturday, Feb 5, I’m going on my 7th day without any smell or taste and it’s really depressing me. But I’ve been doing the essential oil smell exercise each day with eucalyptus, rose, lemon and clove oils and hopefully that will restore my smell and taste sometime within the next 3 weeks. I’m early yet so perhaps I need to be patient.
Did u get it back
@@starbabymady Nope.
I get winded as well. Not as bad. It’s been 4 weeks since my positive test. I got it December 20th and got retested two weeks after and it came back negative. For me in came in waves. Fever. Then I lost taste and smell no joke in the matter of 20 minutes. I had dinner, could taste all my food and smell since I cooked it. 20 mins after I had pretzels and hummus and couldn’t taste a single thing. So weird. Then fevers stopped. Got a bad sore throat. Lasted 4 days. Then I felt completely fine. 4 days of feeling completely normal then had the worst body aches and chills. No fever. Got tested while I had these body aches and chills thinking I was still positive. Nope! Test came back negative. Had these body aches for the next week or so. Then after, I would feel completely fine and then I would feel like poop. Lay down for an hour, then felt completely fine again. So weird and random. Thank God I feel pretty much normal now. Smell is basically back. Taste is still gone. It’s weird because I can “taste” sour, sweet, spicy, salty, but I can’t taste the actual flavor. You could give me a piece of candy and I could taste how sweet and sour it is but the actual strawberry flavor is gone. One day I can taste the flavor or something very very minor, then the next day I can’t taste anything at all. The fact that my smell is pretty much back gives me hope I will taste very very soon. To anyone that has covid, you’ve got this! Listen to your body!!! Take your vitamins, immunity shots, drink plenty of tea, hydrate constantly and eat food even if you’re not hungry- you need energy and calories to fight it off!
are you recovered fully?..how long does it take?..please tell me
My smell went away on my 6th day of symptoms, then i got parosmia (smelling things differently then before). This is my 8th day of parosmia. 85% of smells smell normal, maybe slightly muted. Just tested positive about 5 days ago after having an irritated throat and runny nose. It went into full blown "bad cold" symptoms, with nasal congestion, cough, and stuffy ears. I thought things were clearing up when I had a decent good night's sleep due to no mucus when I lay down for bed, but this morning I woke up and I could barely smell anything. I get faint smells from normally strong scents, like coffee beans, scented candles, and cleaning supplies. My morning peppermint tea was like drinking plain hot water with the odd cooling sensation of the plant, but zero flavor. A hot shower with my rose-scented body wash came up with nothing. Laundry detergent - nada. It's a bizarre sensation.
I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks, but I think this smell training is a good place to start. Not being able to taste food in the same way I normally would has really curbed my regular appetite, and the only way I can taste anything at all is by adding sugar which I try to use sparingly. I take regular supplements daily already, but maybe it's worth bumping up the dosage a bit on the B complex just until I can get the ball rolling.
Thanks for the encouraging progress reporting. The number of people I have read about suffering the loss of smell and taste for months if not years has been unnerving (unintended pun), but I will try to stay positive that my senses will return in due time and keep up with the training. I know it's rare, especially in cases with full vaccination, but that dread that you could be one of the unlucky few who don't recover is an ever present thought in the back of your mind.
It's been 3 weeks since I tested positive for COVID. I feel better, but I still have this nagging cough and throat clearing, fatigue, and loss of taste and smell. I too noticed salty and sweet were very exaggerated. The salt in water was one of the first things I noticed. It is nice to have smell and taste back. I too know about the cough is the gift that keeps giving as well as the fatigue. Keep getting better!
how long did it take you?
@@cherish5711 About 3 weeks. For a couple of days when it started to come back, all I could distinguish was sweet and salty. Then one day, I was able to smell hand soap. It took about a week to be back to 100%. If you're in the early stages, don't lose heart. What I found interesting is when I didn't have taste or smell, it made me realize how much texture plays a part in eating. A friend made chicken divan. The gravy and almost mushy broccoli was so smooth going down my (irritated) throat I understood this is what made it comfort food. Get better!
@@Molly-eq1ix I’m 2 weeks in. I can smell completely fine but I just can’t taste yet. :( Did your smell come back first, or did they come together?

Awesome. I'm glad you're doing better. I just lost my sense of smell by morning and everything tastes bitter or unnatural, and strange. I hope to regain my senses like you have soon. And as you said, it took about four days until my sense of smell was gone and I guess my taste is slow disminishing but I believe I can make a full recovery

Like Brian it has been a year and 4 months for me to not taste and smell. It has been debilitating for me. No enjoyment as far as eating. The danger from not smelling is scary and I have some close calls.
Every single thing that you explained is like a carbon copy of my experience. Weird because so many people have experienced different things, but I took a chance on your video in spite of all the other thousands of videos and you answered every single thing. Thank you. Now i'm not fully recovered with taste and smell because im not as far along as you but I hope to recover the same. BTW Did they give you any medication?
Did u recover I’m on my 19 day I have a hint of smell during the day
I have corona and i not smell now nothing on day 7
Day 30 since first symptom, taste is what is taking it’s time returning fully. My smell is about 60%-75% but everything I eat is so bland. I only can tell that my taste buds like the food and makes me continue to eat it but so disappointing that the full flavor is just not there still. I know no one knows how long this lasts and that everyone’s body acts different; not to mention even doctors don’t know everything since it is so new. Hope positive results pour in in 2021 about everyone’s symptoms completely disappearing and this can be a thing of the past.
Yes I’m in day 23 and I’m getting better and my smell is coming back almost fully but I feel like taste takes time but when I chew on orange gummies I can taste them but when I chew on some random food the flavor is not there but I’m eating garlic to get it back faster and drinking cinnamon and honey tooo !!

Thank goodness you posted this! It's been about a month since onset of symptoms for me, and I'm still not feeling well, I'm better one day, then next day feels like I've relapsed slightly. Sense of taste and smell came back after about a week for me. I'm kind of weak, and a bit winded if I try to do more than I guess my body is ready for. I've been wondering if it s me, or if recovery is generally long.
It can take a while! I hope you continue to feel better every day!
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs might help you.❤️ I’m still not 100% yet but feel that those 2 things plus vitamin c, d, zinc, selenium, and smell therapy helped me heal faster than if I didn’t do those things.

I smell smoke but no one is smoking
Got diagnosed earlier in January and have been experiencing that nagging throat clearing/coughing you referenced (about 2 weeks in). I find that nasal irrigation helps, and will on occasion take OTC cold meds to alleviate symptoms. Got about 50% of my smell back (and sometimes smells can also smell different).

Please answer I would like to know this also
Hi! You said your taste/smell has totally returned, and on the smell training video you said you were on day 17 and it wasn’t quite there. Do you remember when it came back - I’m on day 17 now. I’ve been doing the smell training and I can smell things if they’re strong and right to my nose. And I can distinguish salty, sweet, ect but no flavors
it takes time. Smell comes back first followed by taste. You should feel some improvements on the 4th week.

I just got the virus and yes coughing and clearing my throat is a constant thing i lost smell and taste and if i talk for too long i cough and feel out of breath i got the body aches as well
My parosmia has been going on since the beginning of July roughly. It seemed to be things that contain sulfur initially. I have been unable to smell certain things, like poop, instead smell an odor which is completely foreign. I didn’t know what it was for a few weeks until I smelled the odor in a situation where I knew what I should have been able to smell. I hope that this subsides, I don’t enjoy the smells of food anymore and some foods taste different. As someone who considers themselves a foodie it has really hard to not enjoy something like the smell of something cooking.

Have you been putting tests swabs in your nasal passage and do you wear masks? @@dariussmith5590 I think to be tested in early stage is really important, so to let your body rest and isolation not to go out, especially the body is vulnerable. I tested positive on my second day of symptoms (running nose mostly). There was only running nose so I thought it was a false positive not until I lost my taste two days after positive. I took vitamins every day and watched ua-cam.com/video/vN30emwcNS4/v-deo.html for further information. Also, I took some Chinese medicine from my family. Some of my friends, (we infected together....) got their taste back after two weeks, and some of them had fevers and headaches but retain their taste all the time.
