    Guy has some serious power, but half those "uppercuts" were hooks. Particularly the first ones (around 1:17) he draws his right elbow back and drops his hand telegraphing a hook or uppercut. I think a D'Amato style of slip and load is better defensively and offensively.

    hmm in my opinion its a low right hook , and not a body uppercut , he misses the power now from his knees like a squad and still turns his hip into the shot ,which is not the way it meant to be for an uppercut

      @@Liquidcadmus Exactly. To add, it depends on the situation, the timing, angle etc. There's plenty of fighters who throw an uppercut at some point in their career without setting it up first esp. traditionally with a jab. Andre Ward, Roy Jones, Canelo, of course Mayweather etc. but they don't make a habit out of it.

      @SzKPL 7 років тому +6

      I don't think that pivoting your foot has anything in common with blocking or throwing kicks. It might be even better not to do it, because than you're always ready to throw a kick.

      Then yet again boxing & mma are 2 different categories. I tried mma for a month and you always have to shift footwork, pivot, change guard, angle etc. While boxing well its more simple but still hard to master.
