I took Wing Chun and boxing for about 6 and a half years, from the same teacher (sifu did boxing for 20 years and wing chun for 30) and one day I asked him why most Kung fu is BS. He told me that 99.9 percent of traditional Kung fu master don't spar, and don't encourage their students to spar, so they never stress test their techniques and figure out what works and what silly moves to leave in the classroom. I think the biggest mistake traditional wing chun oracticioners do is go into a fight in the traditional wing chun stance. In most situations, you'll never be mobile enough to deal with someone who can dodge, weave, or is the least bit quick. We were basically taught to adopt a boxing stance and and only apply techniques that make sense, like the occasional tan Sau, oblique kick and some elbows as a couple example. I always laugh when I see people sparring or fighting and throwing out bon sau's and standing around stationary waiting for a punch to come. If you do Kung fu, study people like Tony Ferguson, Anderson Silva and Jon Jones. All of them practice wing chun/jkd, but have figured out what works, and merged that with their boxing and bjj. I especially enjoy the oblique kicks Jon Jones employs
That’s what I came here to say. That wasn’t “the coward’s way out,” that would’ve been ducking the fight altogether. i feel like a lot of this is that real fighters practice taking punches, while older school martial artists simply don't do that. I'd love to see someone who took kung fu as seriously as the pros take fighting go at it. Cause it seems like a lot of it comes down to actually knowing your way around a real encounter vs theory, also straight toughness and understanding what it feels like to get hit.
I’ve seen muscle bound big men who can’t fight, and skinny men who are very tough fighters with lots of stamina, don’t pick on people and don’t underestimate anyone
Seriously? That's all you learned as a cop in 30 years? Either you're downplaying everything you learned to make a point specific to this video or you're supremely arrogant and believe that you knew everything about being a cop before you started. Either way, it doesn't matter because there are people who mouth off, talk tough, and when attacked, they prove to be excellent fighters who are genuine tough guys. Granted, they're rare, but they are out there. Also, talking tough doesn't always mean a braggart who descriptively threatens people with what they're going to do in order to actually weasel out of a fight. The toughest fighter I've ever witnessed in a fight was a small man about 4'10", 90 pounds, who soundly beat and knocked out 3 large guys over 6' and 225 pounds. They told him that they were going to kill him. His response was, "Go ahead and do what you think you have to do, but I'm going home." They should've recognized his calm words and demeanor for the confident tough talk it was. I know that after they regained consciousness that they certainly thought twice in similar situations after that, if they even had the intestinal fortitude to try that on someone else.
In the service we were told that martial arts are only viable if you are fighting an opponent using the same style. when in hand to hand you fight as dirty as you can,

Afterwards the Real fighter said the referee should have been fighting. He'd hit people at that spot and angle and usually spin them to the floor. He was impressed the referee had stood the hit.
The key to most mixed martial arts fights is to get your opponent out of their style. Hence, if someone only knows certain types of, for lack of a better term, 'on their feet fighting', then someone who has trained in wrestling or various ground forms brings their opponent to the ground and dominates. Conversely, if you have someone who only has a ground game (which we've seen in some MMA fights), they try and use every opportunity to get to the ground, but if you can't force your opponent down, you are at a severe disadvantage as their strikes weaken you. If you are taking a martial art to learn defense, go to some form of karate or boxing to learn footwork and striking, then some Br JuJitSu for ground work and Aikido for rolls and balance. Work and practice your fundamentals until they become second nature. Then try sparing/attending an MMA gym/sessions and work on combining all that into something that works together.

The old guy at 1:38 went viral maybe around 10 years ago. He was so delusional about his no-touch art that he actually put something like $15,000 on the line. He lost it, of course. I can't remember his name now, but it used to be easy to find videos of him taking on all his students at once with his no-touch nonsense, and they'd all obligingly fall over when he waved his hands at them. It was pretty sad, actually.
also a LOT of martial arts do NOT have an answer for majority of boxing techniques. but martial arts vs martial arts full contact does come into play if its just for points at a tournament thats body shots only and its a lot less professional..
People can be sucked in by these fakers. I was. When I was young, I joined a Kung-Fu school just wanting to learn to defend myself. I'd never done any kind of self-defence before so didn't know shit from clay. I was told that the style of Kung-Fu I was doing was so dangerous that we didn't spar or compete in tournaments because the style was too effective. So effective that it had been banned from tournaments as people were getting too badly hurt by this style. Being young and gullible, I believed the bullshit and signed right up. I asked once what would happen if the fight went to the ground and the response was, "If you're good enough, it won't." and that was the start, and end, of defending yourself on the ground training. We were also told that if we went to another school to learn a different style, we'd be kicked out of the school. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and it took me 5 years to realise that I was wasting my time and money after way too many unanswered questions. I took up boxing the day after I left the school and was absolutely shocked and embarrassed at how badly trained I was. The one good thing was I was in good physical shape because it was exercise with a lot of resistance training. I got all that and more in the boxing gym.
Hahaha, I'm a yellow belt in Karate and I don't know shit, trying to go against a blackbelt is just insanity. If someone set me up for that fight I'd never take it. I'd rather box Jake Paul
The yellow belt one was BS unless there’s more to the story. BB shouldn’t be going full speed on a yellow belt like that. And YB should have bowed out.
The thing about traditional martial arts is its really only designed to counter other traditional martial arts. They are rigid systems that lack flexibility in dealing with styles that they aren't familiar with. That was a big part of Bruce Lee's philosophy of the style of no style. He was looking for ways to deal with any opponent of any size or any style because the traditional forms were inadequate for real fighting. You can be a true master of a particular style, but it doesn't make you a true fighter. Edit: The clip at 5:52 is cool and all, but it seems like they agreed to keep the fight standing. If this were MMA, the dude would have shot for a single leg and taken the master down to the ground kinda like the clip at 7:37. That's why you see so many low/leg kicks in MMA, or you'll see a fighter using leg kicks to setup a head kick later in the fight. Not just throwing flurries of kicks like this guy.
Getting Punched in the Face by a Trained and/or Well-Skilled Puncher really is a Wake-Up Call. Flash of Light, Pain, Blood, Teeth coming Loose, etc. (all of which I have endured). But, if you can mentally prepare for it and absorb it, you may be able to return fire, which most are not prepared for. I have been punched many times (US Navy, Bar Fights, etc.), and sometimes by very large dudes, but have always been able to withstand the initial punches and hit them back, with solid punches of my own (thrown with technique, leverage and violence). They often crumble like a house of cards. Anyone can be knocked out. There are also many other ways to be dropped (Body Punches, Kicks to the Knee, Leg Sweeps, etc.) and all can put you in a terrible disadvantage and a World of Hurt. Train, Prepare, Focus, Be Alert and be a Nice Person (unless some Bad Guy needs a beat Down).
Does anyone realize that Tai Chi is not a martial art? It is an art form a little more active than yoga, which keeps the muscles toned, the joints limber, and also involves a meditative element. Think of it in terms of Eastern Pilates.
That last guy who went after all the Chinese fakes really paid for it. The government got so pissed at him for embarressing masters of chinese fighting arts they crushed him thru the Social Credit System. Poor guy couldnt buy or sell, rent a place to live and in some cases couldnt even get food. Wasnt allowed to travel even within the country.
The Masters sacrificed themself to show to their student how/why not to get beaten badly. So come to the class and pay more to learn how to beat the MMA
4:00 he actually learned from this - trained boxing for the next halæf year and came back to, well not meet the same student but an odler one, however - he actually had required some fighting skills and did a lot better. Maybe to honour his effort he got the win. But he saw his fighting was not enough and tried to learn what had taken him out in the first place. kudos to him for that :) That´s the way you train fighting
I don't think it's because they know they can't fight but choose to anyway. I think most of these guys are so delusional that they actually believe their nonsense works. It's not until they take real contact that they realize their fighting style doesn't work. Or until they wake up, because some of these guys either get KTFO'd immediately or go into brain trauma auto-pilot as soon as they take a real hit.
No way! I saw Fong Sai Yuk ride backwards through an army while blindfolded dispensing untold casualties with a bundle of spears on his back. No way that's fake!! 🤣🤣

By contrast, Boxing and grappling is 100% rooted in the practical.
Where did people get this idea that martial "arts" is about fighting and not an artistic performance discipline?
Whatever that is at 10:00 is great. I’m not sure what I’m watching but I could watch more. It looks like one guys is punching the other guy in the face while he tries to do shadow puppets.
Lol at the "no touch" master.
Technically he didnt TOUCH his opponent lol.
He is undefeatd in no touch fights. When the other guy is allowed to touch him, well... his record is less impressive.
I've seen Tai Chi fighters throw people to the ground so hard it was like they fell off a three story building.
So… they died?
@@mwbright Why not post some proof of that. Utter bollocks.
'The Man of Tai Chi' sucked so bad, it made Keanu Reeves hide his face with a beard for the next ten years.
I saw this happen in a boxing match… the guy was destroyed in two seconds
6:14 You mean the “MMA fighter” that didn’t use one bit of MMA?
I love Bushito Masters.😂😂😂
I called Bolo Yeung 'cute'... then I woke up ;)
Some of these martial “artists” need to put their paintbrushes and crayons down and pick up some loves and fight training! I saw one of those “no hit masters” (where they throw their energy, chia pet, jedi force, or whatever) get in the ring and he got hit so many times in 3 seconds HE started throwing punches! So much for a “no hit master”! He QUICKLY decided he was more of a puncher after being the punchee for a couple of seconds. He was KO’ed a few seconds in! 😂😂😂😂 *EDIT* Ahhhh you got one on those “no touch masters” @ 9:08 . Just got to that part! I hope you have more! 😂😂😂
Never take a fight against a guy who’s gonna keep one hand behind his back. It’s a no-win situation for you, no matter the result. Duh
Nah bro, we watching 60 year olds. What do you think we are gonna see?
None of these "masters" even have any athletic form.
It was pretty sad, actually.
also a LOT of martial arts do NOT have an answer for majority of boxing techniques.
but martial arts vs martial arts full contact does come into play
if its just for points at a tournament thats body shots only and its a lot less professional..
Every martial artist knows that the hardest opponent an artist will face is an accomplished boxer.
This is the dumbest thing I have seen today.
Don't wear pajamas when you fight.
Simple understanding!!! Kung fu master don’t ever fight with reality - they are all in paper . While MMA is reality
10:26 I think he just forgot to drop lol.
He forgot why he was there
People can be sucked in by these fakers.
Unless you're a 60 year old man with bad knees then there's not a chance in hell Jake Paul is taking that fight.
@@walker84_uk51 Bad cardio, I would gas out in the first round, especially with out steroids
that fightwr at the 6:41 mark will definitely get his pro card soon. he will be the one to watch.
The yellow belt one was BS unless there’s more to the story. BB shouldn’t be going full speed on a yellow belt like that. And YB should have bowed out.
First rule, don’t wear pajamas to a fight.
Say that to BJJ and Judo guys.
@@thedefinitive6296 Another expert spouting nonsense.
@@williampagdon4822 Great another teenager with access to the Internet letting their imagination run wild.
I love guys who punch air then try to pick fights.
This IS the real thing. Thanx for good video 🙏
All the training in the world can't teach hand speed or reflexes. Not every has these qualities and they will never be good fighters.
Tai Chi as a martial art? In my area it’s usually old grannies keeping fit.
That guy got winged right in the chung
I see what you did there. Very punny sir.
@@Ravenstrike721 You're dealing with a master of the marital arts.
Always thought TaiChi was only for meditation and calm. When did they start fighting?
Really wanna see Steven Seagal face a real opponent
Does anyone realize that Tai Chi is not a martial art? It is an art form a little more active than yoga, which keeps the muscles toned, the joints limber, and also involves a meditative element. Think of it in terms of Eastern Pilates.
That last guy who went after all the Chinese fakes really paid for it. The government got so pissed at him for embarressing masters of chinese fighting arts they crushed him thru the Social Credit System. Poor guy couldnt buy or sell, rent a place to live and in some cases couldnt even get food. Wasnt allowed to travel even within the country.
4:37 This guy wears a black belt for a reason.
I honestly don't understand--why do these guys, who know they're bogus and can't fight, get into a ring with...well, anyone?
I don't think it's because they know they can't fight but choose to anyway. I think most of these guys are so delusional that they actually believe their nonsense works.
It's not until they take real contact that they realize their fighting style doesn't work. Or until they wake up, because some of these guys either get KTFO'd immediately or go into brain trauma auto-pilot as soon as they take a real hit.
That yellow belt / back belt fight was not cool. Belt levels exist for a reason.
30 year martial arts Master looks 18...
Tai Chi is a great exercise and to do a moving meditation. However with that said, it's not the style, it's the fighter. But not Tai Chi.
My friend use to be a kung fu master and end a ballet dancer
After watching this, I’m not so convinced that those kung fu movies are real.
No way! I saw Fong Sai Yuk ride backwards through an army while blindfolded dispensing untold casualties with a bundle of spears on his back. No way that's fake!! 🤣🤣
To be fair these ancient martial arts only work if the opponent also follows the same rules.
Nowadays you are better off taking Grav maga, Brazilian jujutsu or MMA.
@@coldsoul333 Grav maga is made up.
Nope. I'm here because i saw the thumbnail pic of Gus' hot dog truck behind the Galeria. I've seen that since the 70s when we picked my father up from the train .
Curious what else i will see that's familiar.
Spend 6 months in the gym and then think about if you want to be a fighter...
Самое смешное, что всех этих "великих учителей" легко бьют даже начинающие бойцы.
Honest question.... Has anyone seen a video of a martial artist fighting a real fighter where they won? I've never seen a single one, and I've seen thousands of fight videos probably
pretty sure real fighters are martial artists - just they train more effectively and ditch the filler.
Love Xu Xiaodong =) Also, Tai Chi is a wonderful way to stay healthy as you age. But that's really all it's good for.
When down, get up again and again Wing Chun Masters.
Now, i am a martial artist(eternal student) and both my previous and current teacher are not tall but i've seen them take down giants and professionals as if they were raggdolls. The emphesis here is on 'Fake'. Never underestimate your opponent. Btw, a decent martial artist doesn't go around picking fights..just saying..
Even if you’ve been a bit of a scrapper in the past it’s never a good idea to brag about it, have a happy life staying under the radar
WWE learned from THEIR masters.
Giving up when you know you are beat is the cowards way out. You step your dumb asss in the ring.
