Unboxing Quad Grows and top tips on how to use them

- In this video I am in my garden unboxing my Quad Grows and wondering if there are some methods I could use to get the best results from them. I call on my friend Eli from In The Garden with Eli&Kate to answer some of the questions I have.
Quad Grows are a self watering growing container ideal for gardeners who wish to go away for a holiday in the knowledge that their plants will be self sufficient whilst they are away. The Quad Grows need manual filling by the gardener, in this case me, and the amount they need filling depends on the weather and various circumstances but usually they need topping up every 7-10 days.
I will be using my quad grows in my greenhouse to grow my pepper plants in over the summer months. I have not used them before so the information from Eli will be invaluable. Please watch and enjoy.

Hope Eli's beer didn't get too warm! Yeh my chillis have started to look a bit sad too 😥 they were doing so well but hey ho. Good luck with the quad grows. Will be interested to know how you get on with them 👍
Thanks Kerry, I did feel a bit guilty pulling her away from her beer 🍻 My peppers and chillies are still looking sad and have aphids now too 😩 I fear I am not meant to grow peppers. Thanks for watching 😊

Since changing the design from a 4 pot to a two 2 pots design Greenhouse Sensation have always sold the plugs to allow you to block the joining holes and split the units - which makes more sense to me.
I use the mulch caps as I grow outdoors and evaporation is high, and the cane support is fantastic. I grow in a 60/40 coir/clay ball mix so I remove a fair bit of the potted plant compost, push it through the loose cover in my hand, lower the pair to the pot and firm the roots in before sealing the cover. (Hope this makes sense!) I bout their solar kit as well to drip water each pot on sunny days - works a treat.
Top tip - as Eli says. (with any wicking system) do not fill the tank for at least a week - this forces the roots to go looking for moisture and makes for a stronger plant.

great question about the Quad Grows to ask Eli! did you contact the company about the broken base...did they send a replacement?
I did get in touch with them but haven't heard back, I'm not sure I used the right contact address, I will investigate further and report back 😊 Thanks for watching

@@magspies when I asked my husband to find the invoice for the order he couldn’t find it so I contacted a company which I think I told him to buy from but I haven’t heard back from them but as I couldn’t give them an order number it’s not really their fault.
I looked on Greenhouse Sensations website and they sold the quad grow pieces separately so I bought a reservoir from them for £6.99 along with the bungs to block the holes so it has been resolved in a way. They have delivered them now so I can get my peppers in place soon 😊
I would recommend Greenhouse Sensations if you are looking to buy 😊
@@bethanskitchengarden ah yes, it can be frustrating when paperwork goes missing. but you'd think they would have at least replied! great you got sorted anyway, and can get those peppers in place :)

Hi question I have that stinky smell with nettle comphery mixed with an all perpose feed I left the watering can outside then watered my outside vegetables can I still use the rest in the water butt thank you happy gardening Richardx
I'm sorry I don't understand your question, did you put the comfrey feed in the water butt? If so then yes the water will be fine to use, if the waters just smelly because its stagnant I would empty it out and clean out the water butt, with all the rain we've had lately it should fillip in no time. @@RichardTaylorgardening Yes it should be fine, I'm using comfrey and nettle feed that I made last year and there seem to be no problems 😊
