Jacques shows us how to make his wife, Gloria's, favorite sandwich. Garlic lovers will especially enjoy this recipe as it begins with rubbing garlic cloves onto a toasted English muffin and is topped off with whole slices of garlic. He then adds chopped sweet onions, anchovy filet with a splash of oil, a tomato slice, salt and grated mozzarella. Make sure the mozzarella covers all of the bread so it doesn't burn while in the broiler. Top it off with a dash of Italian seasoning and soon you'll be ready for a tasty lunch.

Oh my, I just read in the comments that Chef lost his Gloria this week.😢Anybody who's watched Jacques Pepin over the decades knew how very much he loved her. If even *we* knew it, then she did too. I hope her family can take some solace in the fact that she knew how very much she meant to them & never had to doubt that. It's the dearest gift anyone can hope to receive on this earth & the Famille Pepin gave it to her while she was here. Deepest condolences to Claudine, her husband & daughter too.

My husband almost cried reading about Gloria's passing. To think of losing a spouse after any time but to be together as long as they have been has to be almost unbearable.

My heart has a big hole in it for him. I lost my own husband at the end of April 2020.

A little over a year ago my husband & I took the annual Jacques Pepin cruise on Oceania. Gloria was with him, & they were such a great pair! At a Q&A she fielded a question "have you ever been intimidated cooking for Jacques?" Her immediate, unhesitating response said it all - "Never!" She was thin & frail then...I am so very sorry to hear she's gone. I think her loss is a great one for all her family, but especially for him. A great lady, & a wonderful couple.

Some of the best memories I have with the love of my life in our home I used Chef Pepin's recipes. Through our love and the love of others Gloria lives on forever as your recipes are part of our holiday traditions as well as everyday life. Thank you for teaching me how to cook.

Jacques to me feels like a father figure. My own father passed away when I was 13 years old. I am in my 30s now. Jacques is my cooking father, he teaches me. I have a number of surrogate fathers who are helping me catch up by showing me the way. Learning technique in my cooking by following Jacques has made me a better cook, yes, but what that has really done, what Jacques has really taught me is that consistent success takes perseverance, it takes practice, humility, and the good humor of not taking myself too seriously when I fail, which helps me to keep moving forward and improving. To see Jacques continuing to push forward with such grace and humility and love is a testament and a further affirmation of the lessons he's given me, given to all of us. My heart is with him and I hope he is surrounded by love, and thank you Jacques for everything. You have helped me cultivate a real passion in my life and through your lessons helped me find the confidence within me to keep going and getting better, inside and outside the kitchen. Blessings and peace to you and your family and friends.

I remember Jacques and Julia together. I was supposed to meet Julia at a Canlis event she was going to do. She fell ill and never made her appearance. I was sad when she passed. I enjoy watching Jacques videos. He shows that good food doesn't need to be pretentious.
