Been a while since I've done a serious TAS. Definitely improvable; there's some things I forgot about in a few levels that by the time I realized I forgot to do them, I was too lazy to actually go back and fix it (re: the water level). Well, maybe someone else will take the time.
(also, maybe I'll start actually using Bizhawk some day. Today is not that day. Tomorrow is probably also not that day)
and yes, that one message box is absolutely required

After watching the speedrunners play this hack in real time, I thought a TAS would be boring. The any% kinda is, but this one is definitely entertaining. Well done!

In the water level, wouldn't it be faster to keep the throw block by releasing it every 30ish frames instead of letting it disappear?
Yeah, that was the reason I mentioned the water level in the description. I was too lazy to go back and fix that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

60fps would have been so nice years ago; looks crisp
SMW has always been 60 fps or 50 if you play on PAL.

when you touch the side of a springboard while on yoshi, you automatically get moved above it and start the bounce. when a springboard touches yoshi's tongue, it follows the coordinates of his tongue on every frame. when both happen at the same time, then you get teleported to the top of the springboard, and then the springboard moves to where his tongue now is, which also moved up, which causes you to move to where the springboard now is, which causes the spring to move up, etc. basically its a feedback loop which keeps teleporting you higher, but it stops when the bounce animation finishes.
