I wish the term exposed was not used in these videos that show methods. "Method revealed" would be a bit more classy. Exposed seems to point towards something nefarious being done. I do appreciate you saying it's your interpretation though. It's a clever method that requires good handling. However Nestor Hato did this routine is moot, his performance was brilliant and beautiful. And that really, is what magic is about...presentation. Thanks for posting this method though, it's clever.
The word choice isn’t “exposed” to defame the trick or magician, but simply for UA-cam algorithms, clickbait, and advertising manipulation. Tabloid titles sell.
Another interesting part of this is that he throws the deck at the end, so Penn and Teller won't look at it. Not like anyone is going to stoop down and collect all the cards.
Allow me to say something about Lennart Green. He is not sloppy at all. His persona, his presentation paints a picture of sloppiness, but this is intentional. I highly recommend his DVD, where you see how methodical and clean his sleights are.
Don't get me wrong, I love the sloppy presentation style of Lennart, and I know he is a brilliant skilled card manipulator. The way he presents is great, looks more natural to most spectators.
This is truly amazing. I’m going to have to try a few things with this info now xD I just added 3 new PHENOMENAL tricks to my repertoire recently but this has a lot of potential. Yay for vintage magic gimmicks and those who know of them xD
i wouldve thought most people that have been around already knew this. Nestor actually released it a while back (2009 i think). the gimmick is called Nestorizer.
This is awesome. So many of us want to know this. Yet the actual few people that are smart enough, care enough, and ambitious enough to not only figure this out, but LEARN it, and VIDEO and POST it. Full disclosure, when I first saw you, you had credibility, but that moment you said “I can’t do that flourish/production” I almost closed the video. I’m so glad I didn’t! I went from this guy’s a joke, to dammmnnnn! This guy’s totally legit. When you did that first reveal you gained a subscriber and fan mister. I’m curious how much flak the “don’t reveal the secrets of magicians” crowd will give you. Thank you, thank you,. This was plaguing me as to how he did this.
That was very impressive! I have watched that Fooled Us episode several times at .25x speed and was able to catch....nothing. Well, there was a quick glimpse of the Ace in one frame.😂. I think you and your group of friends have figured out how the trick was done. Penn and Teller was right there burning his hands and the magician was still able to pull it off. Thank you very much for this tutorial.
i can't think of a better explanation...terrific tutorial...thanks! I watched Mr. Hato do it again....if this is in fact his method....He is doing it so quickly I can't spot a thing....He peels off the top four cards with a diagonal sweep....this would be the critical moment when he'd be ejecting the aces....but since the cards are not coming off in a straight line from the top of the deck....rather on a diagonal....you would think you might spot the elastic ejection which would come out on a straight line, therefore possible be revealed by the diagonal trajectory of the top cards....so the sleight would need to be done with exquisite timing ....so that ten cards are removed with 2 separate angles merged into one graceful apparency. So, if this is the case....it just means his mastery is exceptional....but....that is why he enjoys the reputation he does among his peers....and that's the main point I suppose...he is capable of that level of grace and momentum.....
This is a great trick and explanation on how it could of been done. In my opinion your gimmick and suggestion is right, thank you for sharing the magic.👍😊👍
The fancy flourish doesn’t use this gimmick at all it’s an extremely simple cardristry reveal that thousands of people use. No gimmick needed just a few days of practice.
An excellent interpretation, but Nestor removes pressure from the deck on several occasions which would eject the cards. I don't think that was how he did it. If he did it like that however, it was totally masterful.
If you watch his amazing performance, when he riffle shuffles the cards a couple times you can see that he does it in the way that leaves a pretty big packet of cards that don't get riffled that points to using this technique i think. When i watched his trick that was the only thing that seemed weird.
While this is a good theory, I am not 100% sure I'm convinced this is how he does it. Yes, he has to be turning over 8 cards as 4, and your theory shows one way he could do it easily, but my evidence is at 1:23 if your linked video of the performance. The one of the kings he just transformed into an ace is now at the bottom of one of his packets. Initially I thought he just did a packet change, and already had the 4 aces on the top, and smoothly put the 4 kings on the bottom while making it look like he put them on top, however, that is not true because at 1:04 in that video, before he's even revealed that he's changed the kings into aces, you can clearly see that's it's a 10D on the bottom. Now at 1:02, you can see he has his cheeky little pinky ready for keeping a break, then shortly after that, when he places the Kings back on top, before he squares up, he has some cards side jogged (against the meaty part of his thumb), that might be the 4 aces. Basically, he's really, very, very good, and I think he did this with sleights more than gimmicks, however, your gimmick idea might be something us hobbiest magicians might be able to pull off.
yeah im with ya. I dont really think there was an elastic gimmick going on there. Half of the performance hes just casually holding the deck and not really holding it tight. Props to this guy because it looked the same to me but hes definitely doing something different
But at some point he had the cards in free fall waiting for a stop call. How can it be just a piece of rubber? I mean it looks just the same but i can see a problem if someone decided to pick the last possible card in the deck, as in the top one.
Hi, awesome tutorial, could you please explain how you make the gimmick though? Is the elastic glued to the cards? Seems as though it would break rather easily. Thanks!
it really is how its done, check the video of nestor hato, on 4:40 maybe, slow it down and you'll see the four cards jumped from a gap. the camera is close up on his hands
Again, this is really great! By the way, I like your way of speaking, your dialect. I understand you better than an Englishman or an American, because I am German. Are you Scottish or Irish?
@@totallymagic as I said I personally think that it's a oil and water routine, plus he is probably well versed at dealing from the top or the bottom of the deck seemlessly
Thank you great video! I had watched the P&T video several times but I couldn't notice anything suspicious, the handling was so smooth that I ruled out any possible multiple lifts or switches, but still I couldn't comprehend how it was performed. Nice job!
What you see both Nestor and this guy do is a minor force, basically saying, No one's gonna pick the first 10 cards or so so I'ma ignore those. Which card from section one would you like?
you do a block push as you spread the cards and tell them to pick a card "from the spread" nobody will ever select the cards you have gripped down on at the top. as for the dribble, you just dribble the cards slow enough, 99% of people say stop right away as you ask them to say stop.
This certainly seems a probably solution. That's probably why he threw the cards over his should when done, so they couldn't be examined, and the elastic cord probably wouldn't be noticed on the floor behind him as he wrapped up the dialog.
yes I admit my sleight of hand has never been good, probably because I'm too lazy to master it LoL. From other comments I think Nestor probably did it another way?
Juan tamariz used a similar technique for getting a card previously selected from a deck of cards by a total stranger naturally they need to play ball! 👍🏻 He’d stiick them back in the box and naturally one pops out as soon as the pack is open! Elmsley uses something similar as well for his rising card! 👍🏻

He presented it in a different and unique way that connected with the audience.
I thought you were crazy at first with this suggestion, but sounds like a very likely way to pull it off, sousing a gimmick that hasn’t been used much in 30 years. Thanks for posting! Also, Nestor was so fast it was beautiful to watch nonetheless
Wow, I really like this one. Very well taught. You're awesomeness incarnate. Do you glue two cards together to make the gimmicks or is it just crazy glued? BTW., I love Lennart Greens sloppy style.
That's incredible. Such a simple gimmick to achieve a baffling effect. Your opening performance is so close up and I couldn't see anything tricky. Right where is my elastic thread glue and cards.
Just look at the video again and his first trick turning the kings into aces he clearly shows only 4 cards sets them on top of the deck and the flips them
This is definitely how he does it, I watched all of the moves in 0.25 speed and there were definitely more than 4 cards when he lifted them.. Off to make that gimmick and learn this
Penn and Teller have only a matter of minutes, on a Las Vegas stage while an audience watches and cameras are rolling. This guy and his magician friends had as much time as they wanted, under no pressure of timer *or* audience, and even acknowledge that this might not even be the correct method. I'd think the difference would be super obvious :|
HIs riffle shuffles are actually pretty rough looking in the video though. Watch them in slow mo and you will see it's not a very thorough shuffle. Also he sells this trick, it's called the Nestorizer.
We have to remember this is his opinion on how the trick was done. He could be right or wrong... personally, I feel the trick was done a different way. Just my opinion.
In the beginning, I could not believe that this method is the one he used because he sometimes spread the cards so smoothly in his hands. I think I see something, but I do not know what. You did it every time when you flipped the cards over face down. Once you flip the cards over and square them, you dragged your middle finger and thumb along the top and the bottom of the deck - seemingly doing nothing. But it's interesting that you did that move every time. Maybe that's just your way of squaring the deck? Maybe it's something?
