Well nobody than Elaine can sing this song as good as her. Elaine deserves all the adulation that as far as any prominent Theatre Stage Actress or Actor .Let's not forget Singer goes. She makes the audience feel so stimulated .Well done Elaine x
I love Ms. Paige - always have. But her version of this doesn't quite work. It lacks the necessary drama built into the lyric.And, vocally, she just doesn't deliver. But, I've seen such greatness from her so often. I wonder what the back story is. Cuz something's a bit off here.
I love this added song to Chess when it came to Broadway, without Elaine of course. She does great justice to it in her 40th anniversary concert run, DVD as stated was filmed in Sydney where the CD was recorded in Dublin.
Not only does she stagger but it's way too pacy and feels rushed. Rhythm is off by a mile too unfortuantely - it's a kind of waltz with the accents on the first and third beats. Great voice and a quite professional singer though so it's regrettable she couldn't make it more justice here.
I disagree I like her take on it it’s a pop take it’s out of context from the show I like the pop things that she does but being a singer who Pop izes songs I would. I give it two thumbs up!

I usually love Elaine Page but she misses the mark with this song. It doesn’t compare to the version by Judy Kuhn. Ms. Kuhn injects so much emotion into this song and her voice projects so well, she hits the last row in the balcony.
hmmm....it's as if she is deliberately trying to just slop her way through the song. She might as well be singing the telephone book. Her performance in Cats is the gold standard. I was hoping for something like that. Very sad.

Her voice has not aged well. She doesn’t have the power or range in her chest voice anymore - that’s why she ‘styles’ the song as she does.
