From his first indication of empathy in S1 (they’re just trying to feed their families) I’ve had the sneaking suspicion he was Joseph of Arimathea. Now I think we can pretty much call it.
I loooooove hearing Jairus talk to Yosef like this about Jesus possibly being the Messiah...I love how it's obviously blowing his own mind. I can't wait for the whole episode reaction!
I had a feeling Yosef is going to end up being Joseph of Arimethea in Season 2. I also have a feeling that Gaius is going to be the Centurion in Matt 27 who says “Truly, this man was the Son of God.” This is one of the reasons I love the Chosen: watching how they bring to life these “minor” characters while keeping true to the Gospel accounts!
I wasn’t sure if the centurion would be gaius or Atticus but I think it will be Gaius, I wonder what will happen with Atticus and who will be the soldier that saw him at the cross
Why would he go all the way to Jerusalem though .. I reckon the centurion that said that was scared because of the signs after Christ died showing his power etc
Yeah. When the first trailer dropped I literal laughed out loud and yelled , “He’s Joseph of Aremathea!” That shot of him smiling when Jesus was preaching got me. I’m glad to see they’re introducing him so early. When he’s at the trial and crucifixion, along with Nicodemus… it’s going to be powerful.
The more they hint - his family was from Jerusalem, he (or at least his family) was rich, and in contact with Nicodemus. So, yes, I think he’s Joseph of Aramithia.
I always love seeing your Messianic reaction to what The Chosen is doing with the people from the scriptures and their grappling with who Yeshua (Jesus) is. What a time to have been a part of God's story with His lost children !
Your words, "Like Seeing Long Lost Family Members" just sent tears to my eyes immediately! Yes!!! That is how watching The Chosen feels....you just put it into beautiful words! ❤️
Love the comments at the beginning of this video on the theme of light. Jairus’ name is Yair (יאיר) in Hebrew, from the word for light, meaning whom God enlightens.
@@thejusticeavengers1 Wow! Thanks for bringing this up. I had forgotten the third letter to John was written to a man called Gaius. That's amazing! Love this kind of thing.

I had not thought of that until i saw the title of the video. It makes sense and am very excited to see Erick Avari make his next appearance. I hope that they will take their time, i'd like to see some real interaction between the Pharisees and Jesus.
In season 1, it jumped out at me when this Joseph was with other more superior Pharisees and one speaks condemning of the fishermen fishing on the Sabbath, and this man speaks up defending them suggesting they were maybe struggling to feed their families. Now it is making sense. This IS Yosef of Arimthea who had ears to hear Jesus and eyes to see... not blinded by greed like the others as Jesus revealed.
He does tell Jairus that he's rich, that his family has means. I never made the connection before but yeah, I can see it. I just found your channel and your reviews of The Chosen. I see a lot of channels judging the series instead of critiquing it and finding ground in it. I've seen people even calling the creator a "heretic" for things such as not condemning the Latter-Day Saints, whose facilities he's using, which I think is weird. (Do we throw out Paul's sermon to the Athenians because he was using a pagan marketplace to give it? No, that's just silly.) Instead, I see it as a way of opening up dialog. I've been watching the series myself and while I have seen it vary a bit from the scriptures at points, there hasn't been anything I've seen that would be heretical, and certainly a storyteller is allowed "artistic license." I'm also getting a lot out of their treatment of Matthew as autistic, being an autistic man myself and always feeling like a bit of an outsider, even in the Body of Christ. It helps to see Jesus and Phillip, and then the other disciples, begin to include him. I'll be watching for more of your videos on this series.
I figured that out in Season 1…. Suspected he maybe Joseph of Aremethia (spell?) as he seemed sympathetic towards Jesus and Nicodemus although very cautious.
Yes. The way he is open to Jesus' miracles and teachings and he mentioned he has a quandry and stone business in Jerusalem and on top of it all his name is Yussef, he definitely is Joseph of Arimathea.
I think that phrase "I see Light!" is very interesting because it also in a way connects with his name too. The name Jairus is a Greek variation of the Hebrew name Jair, which means "One who Shines".
I do.like how you describe the back stories of the characters. But on the other hand you create more questions, keep up the good work. I've said before and I I'll probably say it again. I love learning from your show.
At last… someone is spelling the name right. Yosef (Yoseph), not Yusif (which sounds more like the arabic equivalent). Thank you Grafted team! 😊 Edit : I do believe he is in fact Joseph of Arimathea.
The thought crossed my mind back in season 2 when they were looking to find where the Romans had taken Jesus when they ran across the Egyptian woman and the paralytic who had been healed. It was Yoseph who warned them to get out of the area. I thought at that time he was the Joseph of Arimethea..
He has the right name, strong integrity, love of the Lord and His people. The more I hear the more I think he is and I've been wondering since day one.
I have always thought about the groups presented to us in scripture. There were the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Essenes (unnamed in scripture) and the Zealots but I think there was one more group. This was the group to which Jesus belonged. These were law keeping men and women, who were apolitical, who were just waiting on God's promise. I like to think that they were like Mary, unsure about what it means and not understanding but trusting in the vision and pondering things in her heart.

I knew from the second season that Yusuf was going to eventually be turned. He showed himself to be particularly ethical when he warned Andrew and the others about Sh'muel's shenanigans.
