As an Armenian with Syrian family roots, I genuinely didn’t expect Armenians to be mentioned that many times here. Very cool to see a little bit of that. I want to look a more into the history of our two nations now
in the seljukian invasion of the byzantine empire, the armenian territorials were heavily overrun and the armenian christians, who didnt submitted to foreign rule were resettled by the emperor into the small area, that remained in power for them. the area between turkey and syrian today, huge parts of Edessa. it was called the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia and was heavily supported by the crusades. In fact all meaningful actions of the crusaders were about this little Armenia and not the idiotic attempt to create a kingdom of Jerusalem. The whole concept didn't worked out, because the catholic crusaders were not acceptance to work under orthodox expand of these areas, giving orthodox probyzantine and armenian nobles actual areas back and rather wanted to create catholic states. There were some connections, like Balduin, first king of Jerusalem married an Armenian lady, but even this marriage was made irrelevant, after the kingdom got a strong claim on Antiochia and Edessa. So in some sense the crusade was more the destruction of these pro-orthodox Christian states, that survived the Seljukian invasion, than an actual good move for Christianity. Of course all European historians were magical disinterest about this effect of the crusades. So most Europeans don't even know about these Armenian areas.
This channel clearly teaches us something. The current state of the country doesn't reflect how nice the quality of the people who live in there. i know many people who think that just because a country is in war or poverty, the people in there are bad people, and vice-versa. I'm pretty sure if I had the chance to visit Syria even if they were in imminent war, I would meet some very nice people. Nice video, as usual!
Syria is who we owe civilization to. Eternal love and respect. And I hope things get better soon so that I can visit the wonder that this nation is! ❤️❤️
Despite everything Syria has been through, it is still a beautiful place to visit with a lot of history, and I hope it will get better soon. WIshes from Canada!
I had a pilgrimage tour as a teenager in Syria. I remember how warm and lovely people were and how beautiful the cities were. It was obvious that it posessed a lot of history in it. Aleppo was specially lovely and it makes me sad seeing the current situation of the city and thousands of years history gone in a blink. I hope the future will be brighter for them and they can soon accept more tourists being completely safe again
Bashar Al-Assad just fell a day or so ago, he fled to Moscow amid rebels taking over the capital city. This is still developing, but it looks like Syrians all across the country are overjoyed by this. I hope that this means that safety will once again become prevalent across the beautiful country.

I am from Syria, and this is the first time that I don't get triggered because of the way the Syrian war and its sides are explained, I am actually amazed and wondering about the insane amount of effort this work needed.
As a Turkish citizen, it is my greatest wish for peace to be restored in Syria as soon as possible and for the Syrians to return to their homeland safely.
@@rahuladesilva7686 Yes, he does. Many Turkish people do and that is understandable as refugees are not meant to stay permanently to in countries they take refuge from.
Ghaidaa the Guide seems like she would be an incredible guide. Very personable, knowledgeable and incredible English. Not to mention its cool that her name literally sounds like guide!
i like how Ghaidaa rolls her eyes as she mentions "Krak des Chevaliers" its like "yes, this is a beautiful place, and it was important during the crusades. The French, however..."
As a Syrian, I can say that this is shockingly very accurate ! regardless of the scarce information about Syria on the internet you managed to came up with a very informative video, even the bits you explained about the crysis were accurate, it is actually like that, no one, even Syrians, quite understand what's going on. Bravo 👏👏
the western kurdistan thing is not true though.. even in that area the kurds are minority..also didn't mention anything about northern natural syria which is now part of turkey

Great video. I hope these conflicts get resolved soon so that Syrians can live peacefully in their country and the rest of the world can appreciate Syria's beautiful history and culture. In Brazil, Syrians and the Lebanese are very highly thought of due to their honest hardworking ways. One of the most respected hospitals in the country was actually founded by them (the Syrian-Lebanese hospital). Love from Brazil.
I went to Syria in 2008. It was an experience I'll forever hold dearly in my heart. I randomly ended up staying with a family in Daraa. They treated me like a king. Whenever people spoke to you on the street their intentions were genuine, they just wanted to communicate and often offers to buy you or give you something simply because you spoke to them ❤️
Hello, I am from Daraa. I almost swear this is my family. We received a tourist in 2008 in a town belonging to Daraa (Sheikh Miskin). I was young and I don't remember many details, but I think it was between morning and noon, and I think he ate with us at home.
Except the civil war, it won’t. He did Iraq and Lebanon ksa Libya Vietnam korea sudan Somalia central Africa Congo Ethiopia Rwanda etc… perfectly I guess his Syrian episode will also be good And he did the most controversial : Israel
Ehhh, I doubt it will be as controversial as it could be. They said they wouldn't side step it but they didn't really go into that much detail about the civil war. They spent more time talking about accents than the current civil war lol

As long as the communist China keep their seat in the UN and have their voice in the security concil, then NO, not gonna happened. Sorry to wake you up but that's the ugly reality
Yeah, it's what Keith was mentioning in the music section, with the Echoes from Ugarit piece which is a modern cover of (a guess at) what the song would've been. (I say "a guess at" because we have the sheet music but aren't 100% sure how to read its notation.) The Civilization series also uses two different scholars' interpretations of the sheet music for the themes of Carthage in Civ 5 and Phoenicia in Civ 6.

The thing about Damascus steel isn't that we don't know how to replicate it, it's that we don't know how they possibly did it back then. I know Syria is more than their history but man, if architecture is the handwriting of humanity, then the book of Syria might be the longest in the world. Love from the US, hope I can visit someday.

As an Armenian with Syrian family roots, I genuinely didn’t expect Armenians to be mentioned that many times here. Very cool to see a little bit of that. I want to look a more into the history of our two nations now
Love you guys 🇸🇾🇱🇧🇵🇸🇯🇴❤️ 🇦🇲
I thank Armenians for coming to aleppo. That cherry lamb dish is my favourite.
I'm from Aleppo and I have a lot of Armenian friends, you guys rock!!
Thumbs up for the Hayastanis!
in the seljukian invasion of the byzantine empire, the armenian territorials were heavily overrun and the armenian christians, who didnt submitted to foreign rule were resettled by the emperor into the small area, that remained in power for them. the area between turkey and syrian today, huge parts of Edessa. it was called the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia and was heavily supported by the crusades.
So most Europeans don't even know about these Armenian areas.
the fact that the Assad regime fell EXACTLY three years after this video was posted
russia be like:assad resigned by his own will
What a coincidence. XD

@Bullymaguire69onPS I'm really happy to hear that, I hope I can travel to Syria soon again
Bashar Al-Assad just fell a day or so ago, he fled to Moscow amid rebels taking over the capital city. This is still developing, but it looks like Syrians all across the country are overjoyed by this. I hope that this means that safety will once again become prevalent across the beautiful country.

I went to Syria in 2008. It was an experience I'll forever hold dearly in my heart. I randomly ended up staying with a family in Daraa. They treated me like a king. Whenever people spoke to you on the street their intentions were genuine, they just wanted to communicate and often offers to buy you or give you something simply because you spoke to them ❤️

he’s going to after he finishes the fully or almost fully recognised countries
Taiwan isn't even the official name though. The official name is "Republic of China".
Yeah, there will be one after he starts partially recognized states, after finishing UN members.
There will be another series about islands :)
As long as the communist China keep their seat in the UN and have their voice in the security concil, then NO, not gonna happened. Sorry to wake you up but that's the ugly reality
Hurrian hymn is actually one of the oldest if not the oldest pieces of music in the world discovered in Syria
True, I was there when it was performed for the first time.
Yeah, it's what Keith was mentioning in the music section, with the Echoes from Ugarit piece which is a modern cover of (a guess at) what the song would've been. (I say "a guess at" because we have the sheet music but aren't 100% sure how to read its notation.)
The Civilization series also uses two different scholars' interpretations of the sheet music for the themes of Carthage in Civ 5 and Phoenicia in Civ 6.
And it's a banger!
