Every time I decide to try FSX again it feels like hanging out with a friend you haven't seen in years. It also feels really calming and I just lose track of time replaying the missions and visiting places I used to fly all the time. Good memories.

I wish MSFS 2020 had such great missions like FSX and until Msfs 2024 comes out I don’t think any other flight sim will beat the missions and the amount of missions that fsx has. Honestly even though I have Msfs 2020 and XPlane 12, I still see myself coming back to fsx not just because of the nostalgia but because it is just a great game.
If slow computer is a factor, highly recommend FS2004. You can get it to look better than FSX with better performance. Of course, the latest Xplane and microsoft sim offerings are the best if you have the computing power
If I still can't get a PC powerful enough to run MFS2020 or X-Plane 11 or 12 and my budget allows it, I'll definitely get FSX. For a sim that's almost 20 years old, I think the graphics still hold up. And with add-ons it can even look as good as X-Plane 11.
Yeah after uploading this video I started doing some more research and found tons of free scenery/visual addons and aircraft addons for free. I think I could have talked about this in the video but I didn't research much addons before it being published. I think I'll learn from this video though and I might remake it to make it more informative.
P3d is a jump from fsx in terms of graphics but only requires plenty addons to make it look good. Fortunately like there's simplaza for msfs, there is a likewise website for it too. Most fsx addons work too
I think I could probably run Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition (a.k.a MSFS 2020) on lower settings on my PC but I like the part where Flight Simulator X doesn't take up about half of my hard drive the way 2020 would. And I'm not going to go for MSFS 2024 because I refuse to buy online-only games. The downside of Flight Simulator X is obviously the lack of detail outside of a handful of major cities and other famous locations but fortunately, since it's still old-school Flight Simulator that lets you install whatever add-ons you like, there is a whole galaxy of third-party scenery, both fanmade and commercial, which I can download for either completely free or for a pittance considering the commercial add-ons for FSX are usually well over a decade old.
I got into aviation in 2020, but I didn't have a good enough PC to buy MSFS back then, so I tried with FSX. And guess what? I went to my local second-hand store and found a perfectly preserved DVD box for FSX, with everything in untouched shape. And the price? 6€!
I managed to import ground textures from msfs to this one had to rename files more less accordingly to original Textures from world folder using cfs2 and fs2000 textures since they r same and u can view them to see what it is ! Seems to work ! 659 textures ! Not bad ! Took me two days ! U have to compare em side by side and be decisive !
@@AviationIguess yes it’s no brained really yet thankfully I was able to find that folder in the msfs directory folders it’s something like bpffg idk can’t remember now and btw I imported base files from it map files cvx atx and those types which u have in numbered folders main textures in root folder in fsx but they r structured differently completely! So many things can be used still ! Apx files no u can’t well it kinda works but when you search your airport by name u get ????? Marks loads of same stuff from fsw fsc dtg p3d cfs1-3 fs2000-2004 works also I’m telling u! Yeah I tried msfs my 10 year old hp zbook 17 g2 can’t do it overheats it’s on i7-4940mx 32gb ram@2133mhz 2ssd 1Tb each and nvidia quadro p5200 16gb kinda of an aging beast! But yes still going strong with fsx I know we can make it look as good as msfs yet many things we don’t have there like train stations and etc! Btw May I ask if might have a copy of fs global 2005? Well hey the biggest thing for fsx is there is a VERY GOOD BENEFIT in my opinion. Well sure xplane might be realistic but fsx has MORE addons than xplane and well for fsx u have rikooo and many different addon website for free. U can get PMDG airliners and big airlines for free in xplane there are still alot but fsx is better so in my opinion buy fsx for good addons and mods. And buy xplane for realism and physics. But me i like fsx better
i feel fsx and p3d are more realistic in aircraft performance than msfs. Also fsx and p3d controls are more more human friendly than msfs. in fsx we know how much time compression there is and its perfect. In msfs we have to guess time compression. Fsx is very easy to play with keyboard and mouse. Msfs is much more complex to play with keyboard and mouse.
Nah, if your pc cannot handle mfs it most likely won’t run xp11 at decent graphic settings (except you’re ok with low settings). At that point the best choice would be fs2004. Way better sim overall than fsx. With the right addons it can look pretty decent
@@aviator1111 depends on how u config it in the scenery priority list ! The way I did it is by adding it’s what ever and how ever possible from all sims 2000-msfs! Lower than fs2000 is a no no scenery wise ! Including dtg fsw and fsc cfs1-3! U just have to know how to fiddle with certain files ! Nothing is impossible ! For example all default cities instead of adding individually I added as one complete package all scenery files from each city in scenery same for textures ! U save space and gain priority for all files ! No loss no conflict seems to work same way for continent files but fs2002-2004 isn’t easy! Anyways I meant this on my own

Not even old PCs can run FSX properly. You're better off with either XPLANE or FS 2004. Microsoft has their head in their butt with their newer sim. Instead of fixing the junk they just want to release a new MSFS. So a cheese again like FSX. No fixing, just money...

Whit visual addons its really great and still be used. I used it for 4 years. You just need addons. XP11 is great but needs addons aswell like fsx

To be honest,FSX is more realistic and can have better graphics (than xp11) with mods,and Fs2020 is literlay a Improved FSX graphically

I play fsx and with planes thay you like and scenery if you put it in the max settings it looks as good as any modern sim

FSX is worth it i wouldn’t say for the realism, but the missions make it 100% worth it, something that is very lacking in MSFS2020
TLDR get x plane 11 or fsx if you have a slow pc, both are cheap

FSX with addons looks better than XP-11, plus has better air traffic and lifelike ATC voices.
