- An hours coverage of the Talmag Trophy Trial held at Hungry Hill, Aldershot on Sunday 26th January 2020. This video shows the solo entrants. (See comments below re the sidecars).
This is the 65th annual Talmag Trophy Trial. This classic trial event (open to European pre-1965 Fourstroke machines only) is organised by the TALMAG club - that's the Territorial Army (London) Motorcycling Club. This year's event featured eight classes for the various machine types and sizes, as well as - for the first time in its history - a third (blue) route, an open class for riders wanting a more challenging route.
I hit the buffers with the length of this upload, so if you want to see the sidecar action, then search on;

The results are at the end of the video. A thumbs up or any feedback comments would be appreciated if you enjoy this video. Feel free to subscribe to see more trials events coverage - particularly modern, including many national events, classic, and sidecar trials.

Love seeing all the Classic Bikes still being used.
I loved those old sounds
Beautifully filmed, with some absolutely wonderful looking ( and sounding!) bikes. Thank you.
Thank you Nigel !! Great video and sound ...
This vid only tuck a year to find me, but that was the best hour I have spent on U Tube. Lovely old school bikes doing what they were meant to do, and doing it well.
I've just posted the 2022 TALMAG event for your viewing pleasure Cptn Scarlett! Regards.
Absolutely excellent and really well recorded. What a lovely hour.
Glad it is appreciated Hazel, thanks.
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing.
Brill. Brought it all back. Must go next year.
My favorite kind of riding.
That was great !
Beautiful bikes.
A superb detailed piece of filming. The excellent coverage of this classic Pre '65 Trial makes you feel like you are in the midst of the action. Can I please ask what equipment you were filming this on. Absolutely Magical. Thanks.
Hi/ I'd love to rattle off a list of my expensive state of the art gear, but sadly for me all pretty low rent. A Panasonic HS700 camcorder, with a Boya external mic with a 'dead cat' on it... wind noise is the curse of many trials venues. Always filmed through the viewfinder (not the fold out screen) to better keep the rider centred. And ShotCut for editing. And thanks for the interest and your comments.
Yes and didn't that Triumph No.32 sound sharp.
Ai miei tempi le mie preferite erano la Montesa Cota 247 e la Bultaco Sherpa T 350, ma la linea della BSA era inimitabile.
Peccato per la guida all'inglese...
Yes, I'd agree, and of course not forgetting the Ossa MAR which was also a great bike in its day... just not when you went through water and the brakes got wet
What does one of those BSA cost?
Here in Italy it is extremely rare ..
Yes, in the UK we are fortunate as so many of the bikes used for pre-65 4-stroke competition were British made, so bikes and parts are doubtless easier to source. But prices are high here too, though trials spec' BSA C15 and B40 models are still within reach of most enthusiasts, and many events allow older 2-strokes, so BSA Bantams are converted to competitive trials machines.
All bikes are 4T?
For this event, yes. And manufactured pre-1965. Some classic events have a 2-stroke class, but not the TALMAG which has always been 4-strokes only. Thanks for your interest.
For this event, 4T only, but most classic trials events in the UK have a class for pre-65 2T bikes as well.
Can one purchase these type of motorbikes??
From WHERE Please?
Thank you.
Try a google search for pre 65 trials motorcycle, there are a few for sale on ebay and there are dealers and restorers who specialise in them.

THANK YOU Russell.
Very Much APPRECIATED,
Thanks again.
Regards.
So, if you got the answer you needed, will we look forward to seeing you ride the 2022 Talmag Terry? After the initial purchase (which is probably better than putting money in a building society) classic trials must be one of the cheapest motor-sports out there.
