This was a great moment and wonderful addition of The Star-Spangled banner. I just think the thing that impressed me most about it was it was sincere. Interestingly enough here in Central Texas this past week we had some thunderstorms which is normal for this time of year. A small town called Bruceville-Eddy had their power go out on Friday and it was graduation day and the service went on by candlelight and the crowd saying the Star-Spangled banner acapella technically great maybe not but beautiful nonetheless.

The first time I went to a baseball game in the Astrodome at 5yrs old, my Father, USAF, taught me how to stand for the National Anthem and put my hand over my heart. After the game he explained to me the meaning behind it. I always get goosebumps hearing it and Taps. I joined the USMC at 19 and was the recipient of my Father's flag at his service after his passing last year.

Best version that raised my hair on my arms and stopped me breathing was on the July 4 th up in Haight/Ashbury in San Francisco California...a guy on his porch full blast and flawless...with his electric guitar...the street slowed and stopped and I think it was a full 10 seconds after the finish....the roar from everyone on the streets...loved it.

I don't usually like any singer messing with any original classic song at all, but this one makes the anthem much more relevant and relatable. The fact that most members of the band are U.S. Veterans (lead singer Dave Bray is a Navy vet) makes it more impactful, I believe.

I love the way they sang the song, and your reaction to it, as always! I don't know if you would be interested in reacting to this but I'll mention it... "The Stars and Stripes Forever," played by The Band of the Grenadier Guards at Blenheim Palace: ua-cam.com/video/jyrmVBfe2Bg/v-deo.html . "The Stars and Stripes Forever" is considered to be "the second national anthem." I love the drama, brashness, and panache of the song, coming from a young punk of a country as it made its place in the world. It is a special honor for me to see it so beautifully played by the Grenadiers. I especially enjoyed hearing the soldier who so perfectly plays the piccolo.

I love this version of our national anthem. And it's so nice to see a person from another country appreciating that flag-waving. Today, we have people IN THIS COUNTRY who dislike the flag waving, and perhaps even dislike this country. Sad to see the USA not given credit for all the progress we've made over the last 50-plus years. Thank you so much for your input!

There once was a boy who lived near Dodger Stadium. He dearly wished to go to a Dodger game and see Fernando Valenzuela pitch. His name was Jose and he was 10 years old. Being that young he couldn’t buy a ticket so he snuck in under the fence. He climbed a pole and found a platform to sit on. Fernando threw a great game and came away with the W. When he got home his Mother asked where he had been for so long. He told her where he had been afraid he might be punished. Happily his Mother was not angry and asked how it was. He told her “people at the game were very nice. Before the game started everyone looked toward me and said JOSE CAN YOU SEE?”

Jimi Hendrix's performance of this at Woodstock defined a generation because: Jimi was fresh back from Vietnam and he makes that upsidedown Fender emit the sounds of the bombings, destruction and death of war.
When asked if it bothered him that people were calling it sacrilege, he replied "I thought it was beautiful."

One new flag, lifted and folded from covering the coffin during the ceremony, is given to either the spouse, parents, child, or sibling of any deceased soldier whether active, discharged or retired. It can also be handed to any designated representative, whether a service member or not, so long as they can show a relationship to the deceased should there be no living relatives.
Our military/government (through the Department of Veteran Affairs) will issue any and all medals and decorations of a deceased service member to the heir/spouse etc of a service member one time as replacements or honorarium.

The Star Spangled Banner is a very hard song to sing for the average person. I don't know why but seeing your title I thought it might be easier. Many Rock songs are easy to sing. But of course, this one is harder than the original. Oh well . . . It is alright. It has a place but not likely to catch on with many. This version will be played in some places but not many. The original itself almost didn't become the national anthem either, probably due in no small part to being hard to sing. The official choice of a national anthem was surprisingly not that long ago. There are probably a few very old folks that remember the discussion between it & America the Beautiful among others. So we aren't about to change now. We are stuck with music that is very easy to start singing in the wrong key. LOL!!
