A huge thank you George, we love our new aquascape! Really appreciate your hard work. Ethan loved helping you. Hopefully next time you visit it’ll be looking just as good! Thanks again. 😀
@@katymacros8482 im guessing there was no melting since shops keep the plants in tanks too. So maybe just if they had a new batch otherwise i dont think there was any melting.
This is a great video because it reflects what the average person will need to do when using local shops. We do not have access to a lot of inventory locally. What you build with limited supplies is awesome. It is a true reflection what the average person can do with limited plants, substrate, and hard scape. Great video.
Hi George. Definitely like the idea of “tank makeover” videos. Watching the transformation is enjoyable and the ‘before and after’ picture is satisfying. Please do more of these! Thanks! 👍🏻
Yeah, I like it too. Although I'm currently getting into high tech tanks, I do love seeing a more "normal" setup. Reminds me of life before the obsession! Can you imagine a professional aquascaper coming in and redoing your tank back when you first started out, god that must feel good. I do hope this video gets lots of views so we can see more of this
It is a very good example of rescuing an almost abandoned tank to an beautiful nature living looking tank...... I feel that everyone should practice doing this & guide our coming generation on how to love the nature...... a grand salute to George Farmer 🙏🏼🌱
I think a simple "aquarium makeover" series like this one would be amazing! Not everyone has access to premium hardscape materials and plants, or is interested in running CO2 and expensive lights. Yet you can still achieve a beautiful aquascape like this one with simple materials and equipment found at any decent aquarium store. I think it would be a good staring-off point to introduce new people to the hobby, or to rekindle interest in people that have had a tank in the past and failed.

Tank makeovers sounds like a fantastic idea for a video series
Love this tank makeover concept! I would definitely enjoy more of these. I even like the added challenge of working with a limited selection at the nearest aquarium store -- creativity flourishes with such constraints or challenges :)
Love it! 😍 This was a great way of showing what you can do with a trip to the LFS and a spare weekend - really accessible for beginners and very budget friendly 🙂 definitely fits in with your ethos of promoting aquascaping too. The only drawback is you'll be inundated with offers of tanks to makeover 🤣😉
Def shout out to you for showing us that with locally available and limited materials you can create a simple easy to maintain and aesthetically pleasing layout. Def for for the black background.
Yes please to more makeovers, but still using local fish stores and plants/accessories that are commonly available. Simple set ups that are easy to both make and maintain, and yet look good. Many thanks.
This was wonderful George.. I really love seeing before and afters. This just needed a little transforming and a special touch! This really shows how you can turn an aquarium around with following a few steps and knowing what kind of materials will work for what you're trying to achieve! I think the black background would look really nice! I really enjoy this kind of video! It turned out beautifully! Ethan was a great helper and I think Ethan's going to do well helping maintain this Aquarium! I do believe you may have inspired a future aquascaper 🙏💚 I hope you're having a wonderful week! Stay well my friend!! 🙏🌿🐟🌿💚
That's why I like your channel as you say "just off the cuff". I started having an aquarium like this with really easy plants and with no co2 etc when I was 12.I think was a brilliant idea to move the tank by the door. It looks pretty and no need for background. Well done George. :)
Really great video. Lovely spontaneity. Shows your genuine passion for aquascaping - you couldn't resist rescuing the neglected tank! More content like this please George.
I think that the black background in the aquarium is the best thing to add because the filter coincides with the black background and you can't see it that way. The black background shows us a certain depth of the aquarium and we can see all the beauty of this tank.
In my modest opinion low light tanks without CO2 is the best option in a long run, you do not need to be worried about the soil losing its nutrients in 2 years, cheaper budget no CO2 and hight tech lights and yet you have green in your house choosing the right plants!
As much as I like your top end aquascaping videos, its great to see you applying your skills to the average aquarium keeper. Would definitely like to see more videos like this 👍🏻
I really loved this video. A little more of what the average person starting out deals with in working with what is available locally and making the best of it.
I really like this idea as a feature for your channel! So many of us run into really terrible aquariums in our friend's houses, and I love how you show how easy it is to transform embarrassing eyesore into a beautiful feature! Edit: I am shocked that you randomly found such beautiful plants at a non-aquascaping store - trying not to be jealous.
Love this; make due with what you have. You can make something great with limited materials, all the more challenging! Great looking tank you have created. Cheers
I was inspired by this video as I recently got interested in aquascaping after many years of plastic plants for my African Cichlids. I want to do a tank or two for colorful Shrimp and one for schools of Tetra's or Platy's
What a lovely gift for your friends, and reading the other messages I feel that a Aquarium Makeover series would be well received. I've a similar sized non co2 aquarium same filter and lighting although I am unsure what daily dose should I be adding to the water to best benefit the plants.
LOL I bet George was having a nightmare when sleeping over there after seeing the fish tank 😴 The young boy looks pleasantly happy after the makeover as would I 😀
Nice scape for the materials you had available George! Interested to see how the stem plants grow without aqua soil or root tabs! I also have thicker leaves trident fern! I love the way it looks! Keep up the great videos!
"estetically challenging" - I am simply laughing my ass of, well said. On the other note, we sometimes need a boost to get us on the right track, well done George!
I always just add some of the old water and some seachem prime. The old filter media on that tank will be infested with snails. You gotta keep the snails at bay!
This was a great video, as simple as the setup was, it still came out great, I would even go as far to discourage trimming. Let the tank do it’s own thing and go for a full jungle look!
The tank looked better before the make over... the snails and algae looked great under the light! Seriously- great video and goes to show that you can do so much to improve a tank with a little bit of creativity and money.
Awesome transformation, but stones I would use black lava or if red red lava, dragon (as those three not changing water parameters, or if so slightly) or even maple leaf rock. My chose is based on shape, as are not so rough in comperment to those used in this tank. Regards.
Looking cool scape george keep it as it is no background needed love like that maby some extra classic algee eaters and amano schrimp might do the trick to help keep algee at bay grate work again as always !!👌💯
A huge thank you George, we love our new aquascape! Really appreciate your hard work. Ethan loved helping you. Hopefully next time you visit it’ll be looking just as good! Thanks again. 😀
You guys are super lucky!!
This was very special George!!! And I know Ethan enjoyed this as well! I hope you all have a very blessed day! 🙏🌿🐟🌿💚
Did you have any melt back because all the plants were new?
@@katymacros8482 im guessing there was no melting since shops keep the plants in tanks too. So maybe just if they had a new batch otherwise i dont think there was any melting.

Who can resist a ‘ before’ and ‘after’? I appreciate the simplicity of your approach. Use what’s available.
Excellent.

Pimp my tank! I like the idea, not all the aquariums need to have dragon stones and CO2 plants :)

I think tank Makeovers is a great idea! 1. You are helping people 2. You are doing something you love to do 3. Others can learn from it! 🐟👍

Keep it light and bright. No black background. Nice easy to maintain island scapes are perfect for a family

Great Job George for what you had to work with ! Side note - can't wait for your book 📚!

Def for for the black background.
“aesthetically challenging” 😂
Love the fact you are showcasing a TRULY low tech scape that looks beautiful.
I loved the time lapse of you draining the tank and seeing all the snails move towards the water
Great idea George
Love to see make overs of nano tanks , as well as the larger ones
Great aquarium set up! Would be nice to see it again in a few months time to see how it's progressing!
Great to see what you can do on a real budget and limited options George.
This video will help loads of people improve their tanks.
Nice theme for a series. I am sure lots of people can be inspired to do simple tank makeovers
Yes please to more makeovers, but still using local fish stores and plants/accessories that are commonly available. Simple set ups that are easy to both make and maintain, and yet look good. Many thanks.
Awesome. More of these makeover videos George!

Tank Makeovers! YES!!!

Beautiful scape! Looks so good!

Tank makeovers would be awesome !!
Great video George! Shows what can be done with some easy plants and minimal hardscape. 👍 Wicked work!
Also very excited for the book release! 📙🐟🌱
Great video and beautiful scape George! Yes more like this! Thank you for sharing! - Little Bobby
So awesome. What a great idea for videos that are a bit different. Love the before and after. More makeovers please!

I do appreciated your willingness to help someone and introduce him to this hobby. Great virtue that everyone should cultivate.
I like this tank makeover thing. Feels like reality television
LOVE tank makeovers!!!!! Love seeing what you could do with limited supplies. This is my favorite vide ever 💕
In my modest opinion low light tanks without CO2 is the best option in a long run, you do not need to be worried about the soil losing its nutrients in 2 years, cheaper budget no CO2 and hight tech lights and yet you have green in your house choosing the right plants!
Can only imagine your reaction when you saw that aquarium lol
Great idea with the makeovers. i would love to watch more of that.
great idea about the makeovers!
George I must say that you have a rare talent. I can only dream to have such an artistic touch. Marvellous!
Beautiful makeover , thank you again , George Farmer !
One of the best aquascaper👏
Brilliant makeover! I can't imagine you could NOT have re scaped that tank. It was the stuff of nightmares.
Well done my friend!
Very good, George, and thank you from Indiana. Yes, this is interesting to see a remake and also advice when there is no proper substrate.
Well done and I like the concept
That's What Friends Are For 👍🏼
Awesome aquarium makeover 🤩👍

As always a very enjoyable episode to watch. Cheers
Nice one George, always ready to help out . Top guy.
I love sharing this hobby with my friends n others. It invites such therapeutic energy to a person and a home💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚 😎🤘
I use a small foam roller and paint the back of tanks with a couple layers of black acrylic - peels right off if you need it to!

That light is great for plants
Holy snap that was a lot of MTS!!! Hopefully you told them about overfeeding and how that happens! Lol. Great work sir!
I think this is a great idea!
Also tell your friend to send a update of the tank every three months so it wont look as horrible as beforw
Awesome video george
Great makeover them trumpet snails are a real pain 🤦♂️ looks good 👍 and the family is happy that’s all that counts nice work George
Great job, loved the makeover theme.
Very nice tank.
Awesome transformation, but stones I would use black lava or if red red lava, dragon (as those three not changing water parameters, or if so slightly) or even maple leaf rock. My chose is based on shape, as are not so rough in comperment to those used in this tank.

What a great episode! It seems casual and off the cuff, which feels relaxing ;-)
Looking cool scape george keep it as it is no background needed love like that maby some extra classic algee eaters and amano schrimp might do the trick to help keep algee at bay grate work again as always !!👌💯
Great job! I would only invert the position of the heater and filter hiding the heater behind the filter.
Hello George Just bought your book, looking forward to my own signed copy
Oh my gosh, Maidenhead aquatics in Lincoln is where I shop! If I’d seen you there I would have died! 😂
Lovely transformation but you should have talked them into another tank for the living room with pea-puffers and put all those MTS to good use! 😃
